I have never been so disappointed in a meal ! It was so sad to be presented with one of the most tasteless hamburgers I have ever been served. A thin patty , wilted lettuce and cheese not even melted onto the burger! No homemade fresh beef patty in sight ,only a pathetic frozen looking excuse for a burger . My husband and I have been annual visitors at the Grizzly Bar for many years. We used to enjoy a juicy prime rib when we were close to Roscoe. We always looked forward to a tasty meal at the Grizzly . We did complain to the waiter, who did a fine job as our server, and he took $20 off our bill .We should have not been charged for any of the three burgers we ordered. Staying at an Airbnb close by.... this place popped up and I decided to give it a try. I'm from South Florida. We went on a Saturday at around 4:50 pm with no reservation. They were able to accommodate us, or I wouldn't be writing this review. The menu was limited, and fairly spendy. My wife had a white claw, I had a beer, and our son had water. My wife and son both had steak and potato soup before their meal, while I opted for a salad with blue cheese dressing. The salad was extremely fresh, but the dressing tasted like store brand stuff. I wondered if it was an omen. The soup got raves from my wife and son. They both had burgers, while I had the Cajun shrimp and sausage. It was honestly one of the best meals I've had in a restaurant. I tried my wife's burger, and it was good too. I don't know if it was $27 good, but it was good. I expect we will go back, and I expect I'll order the same meal, but with a Caesar. I expect my wife will order what I had with the soup, and our son will have another burger. Service was good. The furniture was amazing. I don't know who built those chairs, but they were absolutely spectacular. Would recommend. read more

My husband and I stopped in on Wednesday at about 7pm. We hadn't done our homework and were surprised to see the 'Reservations Required' sign on the door. Taking our chances, we went on in. Boy am I glad we did! A couple was just leaving the bar and they got us in after a very short wait. The service was excellent. Their wine menu was surprising (good) and they had good beers and a full bar. My husband had the cherrywood ribs and they were competition BBQ fantastic! I had the special which was a tenderloin served on a shrimp and artichoke pasta...also fantastic! Cooked perfectly and very generous portion. The place blew our socks off and we look forward to coming again when we make what will likely be an annual trip (at least) to the area. read more

This place is consistently great! They always have great burgers, steaks & sandwiches but the SPECIALS are the best. The shrimp and scallop curry pasta was absolutely delightful - 3 out of 5 of our family had it and loved it. The atmosphere is casual but the food and service are seriously top quality! Julie gave us fabulous treatment despite how insanely busy they were for a Sunday night. We are regulars during the summer months and we are never disappointed. On occasion you might see a real cowboy...spurs and all! Plenty of fishing guides and those folks enjoying the Madison River during "the season" keep The Grizzly Bar busy all summer so call for reservations! I was initially told that they had several vegetarian dishes plus the meat can be omitted from a pasta dish. We came and was told no they have bruschetta, a salad or they could omit the meat from a pasta dish. I ordered the spicy pasta with no meat. I ate half of the pasta and then found two pieces of chicken! WTF, the chef came out and argued with me! My husband eats meat, he ate the first piece and said ' oh yes, that's meat! The waitress was super understanding, not her fault. It's the chef that is full out full of lies! I will NEVER recommend this restaurant to eat since the chef couldn't even apologize for the meat being in the meal. Vegetarians, don't trust the chef....he will lie to you and not care! We had the special (jumbo shrimp & scallops over fettuccine) and the shrimp, basil tomato over fettuccine. Both were delicious. Our friend had steak. Said it was tender and cooked to perfection. Excellent wine list. Try the Klinker Brick Pinot. It was great! Definitely worth the drive (about 44 min. from home) to get there. Take your friends. It's special! I have NEVER entered a half empty restaurant and been told "we are too busy to seat you". This happened not once...But TWICE to my son and I . I called earlier in the morning to make a reservation on one of those times...to no avail. Apparently they haven't heard of the concept of VOICE MAIL. It's unfortunate because we are staying close by and looked forward to some nice dining there. After reading several poor reviews in the same vein as ours we will NEVER return to this place. There are plenty of other excellent establishments around. Fortunately this has been the only let down to an amazing father-son trout fishing vacation. We LOVE Montana and highly recommend this area for some amazing fishing and other great outdoor activities. read more

YOU GUYS. This place is great. The food is always amazing and comes out quickly. Steaks were cooked perfectly. It is so worth the drive from west Yellowstone. They also have really good wine and the ice cream Oreo pie is delicious. I've attached a picture of my dinner of chicken and shrimp with an ancho chile sauce I believe? If you want to splurge and have a great dinner, then this is the place to go. Reservations are a must as it it not a large place and many fly fishermen in the area. So make sure you make reservations. The food was excellent and the staff is very friendly and service was great. My wife and I ha had the "off-the-bone"ribs and our friends had the assorted fish special that they said was also excellent. We all highly recommend this place if you are in the area!!! read more

Called approximately 23 times to try to speak to someone about getting a gift card over the phone since I am out of state to buy my parents anniversary dinner. No one answers their phone. That's just ridiculous. Their answering machine states they will only call you back if they need to change the time on the reservation. I've eaten there once while in state and it was not that good. I do not recommend a place that will not even pick up their phone and use 'communications' to help customers. read more

I flew to Montana to visit my friend In Ennis. He is an 85 year old disabled veteran who gets around with the help of a cane and a service dog named Wally. Life is more difficult for my friend since he lost his wife this time last year last year. I mention this because he wanted to take myself and his doctor to "The Grizz" to have dinner at a place his wife loved to eat. We drove from Ennis on Saturday and the place was pretty busy. There were no handicapped parking spaces so we parked where we could. My friend hobbled across the parking lot with Wally, his doctor and myself. When we went inside to get a table the waitress told us that dogs were not allowed. Wally had his service vest on but she insisted dogs could not come in. We asked to speak to the owner figuring there must be a mistake. Surely he was aware of the ADA regulations regarding service animals. I guess not. He was rude and said it was his restaurant and "out here" he makes the rules. No service dogs allowed! So the one star is as low a rating I could give a place who turns away a disabled veteran and his service dog. Shame on you, Nick. We returned to Ennis and had a great meal at the Gravel Bar and Grill. Not only was Wally welcome, they brought him a treat of his own. Real class people there! I would never suggest that a Yelp reader not go to a restaurant. However, an incident like this, and an owner who disregards the law would cause me to dine elsewhere. You decide! read more

WORST SERVICE IVE EVER EXPERIENCED. I've walked in twice- the first time, we walked in with a group of four people at 5:30pm, the restaurant was almost empty, and they turned us away because we didn't make a reservation. This would be understandable except we had been calling for 3 days trying to get someone to pickup the phone. The second time, we made a reservation and got in, but the staff was standoffish and rude, and our order came out late and incorrect. We walked in & said we just wanted to go to the bar, she said go ahead....so we proceed to go to the bar to find it blocked off with yellow caution tape so we sat at a table next to the bar, could not get served...then we were told we needed a 'reservation' to sit there! so we get up and stand at the bar to try to order & was told we can't stand at the bar because of 'COVID' then was told to sit at this make shift bar in front of the 'cook line'...after 20 minutes watching everything like an outer body experience, I asked the cooks where do I need to go to get a drink? I was told by the 'owner' who apparently is also the cook that we could leave!!!! I said I am just simply asking where do I need to go to get a dink!?! He again reiterated we could leave!!! Masks are required so perhaps it was my TRUMP 2020 mask which set those snowflakes melting but none the less it's my GOD GIVEN RIGHT to wear any mask of my choosing and YOU, YOU are running a business and are expected to be courteous & professional!!!!! We were not disruptive, biligerant or out of line to be treated this way! I guess it's their right to refuse service for no reason and its my American right to give them a bad review and let others know this is a TERRIBLE PLACE with TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE and TERRIBLE OWNERS who apparently DISCRIMINATE if they don't approve of you! These people don't deserve your hard earned money! We took his advice and GLADLY left! Go 20 more miles towards Ennis to the Blue Moon saloon where they understand what good customer service is!!! read more

This is the Madison Valley's greatest secret. There is nothing between West Yellowstone and the tiny town of Cameron on the 287 except Grizzly. If you blink you may miss it, but don't. The decor is warm and inviting and the food is outstanding. Katrina and Nic have this place down and they run it like a well oiled machine. Their extensive wine list caters to a finicky high brow seasonal crowd but the vibe is nothing short of chill. When available don't miss the Triple Threat Burger (its a special) and the ribs, the ribeye and the tenderloin are must haves. Their seared ahi tuna appetizer is excellent and I'll often get it in a salad. It's tough to find a bad meal in all of Madison Valley but this place should not be missed. Reservations are essential. They're closed Tuesdays. read more

A first timer to Montana, I did not expect to find a gourmet restaurant in the middle of big sky country! This place is a hidden gem, a small cabin on the outside but a warm, inviting family restaurant on the inside. With only about 10 tables and a full parking lot, we were lucky to snag a spot for dinner. Once seated, we were presented with a small but upscale menu. They only have about 15 to 20 items on the menu, but dont let that fool you! Every item sounded so tasty I had no idea what to order. I settled on the veggie pasta with seared tuna and was not disappointed! The pasta did not come with the veggies listed on the menu, but i did not have a problem with that. For dessert, our table enjoyed a delicious slice of peach pie with blueberry ice cream. Yum! The only downside of this establishment are the prices. Any addition/substitution is extra (which I wouldnt expect for a simple substitution like caesar salad instead of a side salad) and they make it seem like a hassle to modify your food. They also pre-make every dish (i think) so they run out of menu options on a busy night if you dont get there early. Their alcohol is expensive as well, but hey, in the middle of nowhere, you dont have many other options! read more

Great hidden restaurant with delicious food and great views of the forest hills near the Madison River. The angus ribeye and pastas were a hit. The ribs were a bit spicy for the kids' palettes but did fall off the bone. Reservations are a must. Don't get upset if you don't make one and can't be seated. It's a limited dining area. The service at this restaurant is the worse I have ever had. My husband and I are from San Diego, California. We have traveled the world and throughout the United States and we have never been treated as rudely by a restaurant staff and owner as at The Grizzly. We have a second home in Montana and have been going to The Grizzly for 5 years. The service has always been poor but this is the ONLY restaurant in our town of Cameron. The food is good though so most people put up with the poor service. The other day we called for a dinner reservation. 1x to make our initial reservation and again in the afternoon to confirm. When we arrived for our reservation it took us 15 minutes to even track down an employee to tell them we were checking in. We were ignored for another 45 minutes. Seeing that it was busy we patiently waited. Finally after losing our patience we tracked down a waitress who told us they had to scratch our reservation because their was a misunderstanding on behalf of staff and they were now "sold--out!" We then approached the owner who told us there was nothing she could do. She said It was a mistake they made with our reservation and they could not help us. Our party of 6 left the restaurant with at least another dozen people who also had grown tired of waiting. This is an obvious example of a restaurant that is taking advantage of the fact that "they are the ONLY game in town. Service is bad, really bad, downright arrogant. Don't subject yourself to this kind of disrespect and frustration. Life is too short!!! read more

Our very large family has been going to the Grizzly bar for over twenty years. Our visit in September will be our last. The food is good, but no better than most of the other restaurants in the area. Atmosphere is nice. Some of the wait staff is friendly. Owners don't seem to care if your there or not. Their reservation system is a joke. You can make a reservation and leave your phone number as instructed, but if they don't feel like checking their messages you have no reservation. As mentioned in other reviews they have no problem serving you drinks and running up a bar bill. Only to be told later they can seat you, but they won't be able to serve you. WTF!!!! I don't recall ever feeling as shunned at a restaurant as I did just now at the Grizzly. Looked for a special restaurant to celebrate my 13th wedding anniversary and settled on the Grizzly. Got there around 7:30. There were open tables, a few spaces at the bar, and an area to the right of the "reception" area that would have adequately sufficed as a place to sit and dine. Despite this, it was posted on the door that it was reservation only. We had driven a long way so we decided to see if we could possibly fill in one of those spots. We were ignored at the "reception" area for a solid ten minutes. We finally got onto a waiting list. We were then ignored for 30-40 more minutes. Multiple people waited at the "reception" area to speak to someone only to have employees walk by them, eyes down, completely unwilling to acknowledge them. Being treated like a ghost is pretty crummy. We were hungry and pushed through for as long as we could, but at close to an hour we bounced. Good luck future patrons of the Grizzly!
