Best vegetarian pizza with a wonderful green cilantro sauce!! I used to go to Sliver often when I went to UC Berkeley, and it seems like they changed locations to Shattuck. The place sells different flavors of pizza every day. I ended up getting a sliver of the Roma tomato, onion, lemon drizzle. The crust is perfectly chewy and crunchy, with delicious toppings. The sliver is so cheap (a bit over a dollar) and a pretty good size for a small snack. Also, one of the highlights of slivers is their sauces. They have a green sauce that is made with cilantro. It has citrus undertones that perfectly balances out the cheesiness of the pizza. Definitely try a slice here if you're in the neighborhood, you won't regret it! read more

I cheated and got the regular crust (which isn't regular at all, but simply amazing) instead of the normal GF pizza I get. The crust has a bite to it, holds up to the toppings, and is perfectly crisp, without being crouton texture crunchy. The pizza of the day had Roasted Sweet Potatoes, Dino Kale, Mozzarella, French Goat Cheese, Fresh Herbs Brushed with Infused Sage- Garlic Olive Oil. The Kale was the start of the show. Great Vegetarian pizza option in the Berkeley area, each Sliver does a different pizza of the day so we picked this location (corn, tomato, mozzarella, feta, and cilantro pizza) based on their pizza of the day. They offer a basic cheese pizza as well as vegan and gluten free options in addition to their pizza of the day which is a really nice option. They also have a salad of the day option and a take and bake option for the pizzas! The pizza in house was fresh and delicious and the take and bake was equally good for the next day. The green sauce is a must and has a bit of a kick. Parking wasn't too bad on a Sunday afternoon but could be a limiting factor certain times of the day. We only waited a few minutes to order and received the pizza fast! Large amount of seating inside with a modern vibe. Sliver Pizza has roots in the Cheeseboard, which is closed for the duration of the shelter at home order. I've had it bookmarked since Joan C. reviewed the Telegraph location, then I discovered this location on Shattuck, which is closer to us. Cheeseboard pizza is our favorite and today I checked the Sliver menu online for the pizza of the day. It had corn, chile pasilla, yellow onions, mozzarella, French feta cheese, cilantro, garlic olive oil and Mexican key limes to squeeze on it. Sounded perfect and Alan ordered it online, as well as the salad of the day. Unlike Cheeseboard, Sliver doesn't sell halves of the half baked pizzas, so we bought a whole one. The website said the pizza would be ready between 6:20 and 6:30. I went down to pick it up, arriving in the middle of that time frame. There's no parking in front on Shattuck, but there's parking, plenty at this point, though probably not during normal times, around the corner on Allston. I walked in and when it was my turn, told the young woman behind the counter that we'd ordered a pizza and salad online and gave her Alan's name. Alan had been taking a nap when I left, so I didn't confirm that he had paid or that he had ordered the salad. The woman told the man in back that I was picking up a half baked pizza. She said it would be a few minutes wait. I paid for what turned out to be the pizza alone. She asked me if I wanted green sauce. I said yes, if it's not too hot. She said it carried just a bit of spice and put some containers in a small paper bag. Instructions on the menu board were to heat it at 400° 4-6 minutes. After a short wait the pizza was ready and I took it home. I put the pizza stone in the oven, preheated the oven to 400° and cooked half the pizza for 7 or 8 minutes when it didn't look ready after 6. We squeezed lime over each slice and I tried a bit of the green sauce in addition, finding it a bit hotter than described. The pizza reminded me of Cheeseboard's, so it scratched that itch. Alan didn't like it as well as I did. He found it a bit on the salty side, probably because of the feta, of which he's not a fan. After dinner I find myself quite thirsty, so he's probably right about the salt level, although I really liked the pizza. He told me he had paid online, so we paid twice. He will check our credit card bill tomorrow and will call Sliver to sort it out. I still prefer Cheeseboard, partly because they sell half pizzas that are half baked and partly because they're closer to us than Slice is. Also, the lime wedges Sliver gave us were insufficient for a whole pizza, which is annoying. But during the time when Cheeseboard is closed, I am a fan of Sliver. read more

Pizza was served undercooked. Slightly cold at first bite straight after receiving it from cashier. Also we were not given access to restroom even through my wife had to Go really bad. They said restroom was out of order when it was clearly not. they only have 1 restroom and employees must have a place Togo. Felt guy working at counter was rude and didn't give a s***. Was disappointed with this as I have enjoyed sliver to this day but am not sure I will return after this. Half cold mushy dough never fun straight out the box. Quality has gone down since they have become a franchise and have multiple locations. I much prefer cheese board pizza to be honest, They are the original creators of this style of pizza. Sliver copied their business to the T and even took the cheese boards sliver with every slice idea and called their pizzeria sliver. I was happy to eat at the first sliver location as quality was still on point but now it is a shame to see what has become. read more

I can never say enough about this place. When people ask me recommendations for places to eat in the Bay Area, Sliver is always my number one place to recommend. My boyfriend went to Cal, so I always found myself up there and I never went a trip without visiting Sliver. One trip I had missed dinner because of the plane ride, but when I got to my boyfriend's apartment, he was waiting there with three Sliver pizzas and a TON of green sauce (it's SO GOOD). I honestly wasn't sure what I was more excited about: him or the pizzas ;) Whenever I visit Sliver, the staff is always so cool and nice. WELCOME BACK SLIVER!!! At this new location they are literally outside of the BART station doors! I can step off BART run upstairs, grab a pizza and jump back on a train all within 10-15 minutes. What a dream! I love that this new location has outdoor seating -- perfect for people watching or basking in the sunshine while enjoying lots of pizza! This Sliver is in such a central location it's even better than the previous downtown Center location. Convenient in many, many ways! Downtown Berkeley hasn't been the same ever since they closed their doors on Center St. and I've been missing my Sliver lunches so much. This is one of my absolute favorite pizza places! Even though they don't use meat at all on their pizzas, I don't mind because the pizzas are still great without it and makes me forget about the meat! This is a fast and casual place where you go up to the register and order your pizza and it's ready very quickly! You can also order a whole pizza and they're usually ready within a few minutes! They're constantly making new, fresh pizzas since it's a very popular spot to grab a quick bite, especially with the UC nearby. An honorable mention that I have to talk about though is that green sauce... I'm not exactly sure what it is, but it tastes like a blend of cilantro, garlic, tomatillos maybe? Idk, but it's amazing and I always end up drowning my pizza in it. The pizza is already good without the sauce, but the sauce just takes it to a whole nother level! It's a little spicy and almost tastes like a salsa so you would think that it's weird to put it on your pizza, but it just works so well! They also have this light red/pink-ish (tomato based?) sauce that is much spicier than the green sauce and also works very well with the pizza! But that green sauce is my go to and what I end up taking 10+ containers of to go with my pizza. Another thing that I love about Sliver is that when you order one slice, you basically get 1.5 or 2 slices because they always give you extra! Warning: Cheese Board/Sliver compare and contrast included! All my friends love this place - similar to Cheese Board Pizza on Shattuck, Sliver is like a cute house and Cheese Board is like a nice mansion next to it. The costs are the same (~$24 for a full pizza in both places with a few extra slices on top), but I've tried Sliver's in-house green salsa and the spicy red/orange salsa vs Cheese Board's in-house green salsa, and I'd say that Cheese Board somehow just tastes fancier and better. Because I'm always looking for bold and intense flavors, the green salsa at Sliver just falls short for me - although I love their other kind of red/orange salsa! It's *really* spicy though, so beware. For reference, I love spicy food and would always eat 5-6 little cups (practically drinking it, honestly) of the red salsa with half a Sliver pizza, and my tongue always feels like it's falling off afterwards - but so worth it! There is definitely a lot more seating at Sliver than at Cheeseboard, but the location is farther down Telegraph (not as safe around the area at night) and it also doesn't have a live band like Cheeseboard does. Overall, my verdict for Sliver: not as good as Cheeseboard but still great and closer to campus! read more
