This is one of our absolute favorite restaurants. They have a great selection of cocktails/beer and more food than just BBQ. The pulled pork is some of the best I've ever had and the fish fry on Friday is delicious! A nice townie bar in the Richfield/Hubertus area. Sloppy Joes seems to attract lots of Harley riders taking in the sights near Holy Hill. It's a very nice bar, with a small dining area to the right. Despite being called Sloppy Joes I was told by my dining companions that the sloppy joes were pretty "ehhh" so I stuck with a grilled ham + cheese which was quite delicious. It's always nice when you get a simple item made REALLY well, right? In other news, they have an AYCE fish fry, lots of burgers and a solid offering of bar eats. Drinks are well made and reasonably priced. Our server was attentive and didn't give us any trouble when we decided to stick around for more drinks and chat after dinner. Finally, you can expect country music on the sound system which segues to club music after 10 on the weekends. This can be a plus or a minus depending on your preferences. And I like spicy. 2.5 stars - Weird bar scene: half the restaurant is a bar playing a random combination of loud music after the kitchen closed. Restaurant seating is a few tables on the other side. - Host didn't know when the kitchen closed: we called ahead to ask then got there and there was confusion. Lowlights: - My sister ordered a BBQ chicken pizza and was served an all meat pizza: pepperoni, sausage, ham, and bacon. Wtf? We told the waitress and she said she rang it in as BBQ chicken but the kitchen is closed now. Ridiculous. So my sister wasn't able to eat dinner. How this happens is beyond me and we were insulted by the lack of accountability or trying to accommodate us. - The waitress mentioned today was $1.99 burgers then when asked about menu favorites proceeded to say her favorite was the jerk burger. We ordered that. It was $9. Apparently you can't get that for the special even though there's nothing on it but some seasoning--no extra topping or special bun. Also we ordered mild and it definitely was not. - We ordered cheese curds and I remember the waitress repeating that back to me but they never came. When we asked she had no idea what we were talking about. So we didn't get those. - They were out of everything: croutons for Caesar salad (and maybe cheese too cause nothing but leaves and dressing was on it). Beer we ordered and the backup they suggested were also out. Most disappointing was the brisket mozzarella sticks we were excited about. They are served sliced so we could have gotten the normal ones and a small side of brisket and made our own but that would be trying to provide customer service. Pretty close to disastrous as you can get from a service standpoint. Not sure how this place is run, but I'll get bar food elsewhere next time I'm looking for it in the area. read more

The drink and food prices are reasonable and we have not been disappointed with anything after eating there 5 or 6 times over 2 years. Sloppy Joe's was able to accommodate our group of 12 after a round of golf at nearby Kettle Hills. We shared 'table wing's in buffalo and Thai chili flavors - very meaty, not over sauced. The cheese curds were A-M-A-Z-I-N-G and are a must order if you stop. Our group has some jokesters and we teased the server about 'pickles upon request'. He brought out a plate of pickles for the table and they were crisp and flavorful. The service was top notch, menu items were reasonably priced and everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. I ordered the mushroom swiss burger - there did not seem to be a lot of mushroom, or swiss, and the ciabatta rolled overshadowed the burger patty. We attempted to go to another establishment however were turned away as they were at full capacity. So I called to see if they were still serving food. It was just 3-4 mi. down the road. Guided to Sloppy Joe's by some friends we made our first visit today. The food and service were outstanding!!! My wife had the brisket Sloppy Joe and it was perfectly Smokey with just enough sauce- served with fries it was an excellent meal. I had the Brisket Pot Pie and it was an amazing delight! The light crust all around and hearty sauce was thick and savory, the entire experience was amazing! Take your time eating the pot pies because they stay HOT and tasty the entire meal! Our friends had the sliced beef sandwiches and the smoke ring looked perfect. Beer selection is good including some local fav's. We came in at the perfect time on a drizzly Sunday afternoon, enjoyed the food, the games were on and the staff was attentive and helpful. Thanks to the owner for greeting us, we will be back. I have eaten here before the pandemic. The barbecue beef and pork were great. There were a couple mistakes on our server's part but our experience was ok. ive about a mile from Sloppy Joe's and drive by almost every day, including right from the beginning of the pandemic. Not long after the governor mandated that restaurants be closed Sloppy Joe's had signs up that said they were open and there was indoor seating available. This continued throughout the restaurant ban. The restaurant across the street was closed as were every other restaurant in the surrounding area except for 1 other violator. I feel that if other restaurants had to suffer the consequences of the pandemic Sloppy Joe's should have complied with the order too. Now that the ban has been lifted and restaurants have to limit seating Sloppy Joe's is fully open with motorcycles lined up and down the street. Outside there are people galore, no social distancing at all and no masks in sight except for some servers. It is blatant refusal to comply or to protect people from spreading COVID-19. I have not been inside since the pandemic started but I can't imagine with all of the cycles there that there is social distancing going on inside. I don't know if people are wearing masks inside either. read more

We were on our way to Hubertus and hungry for lunch, so we looked for a place to stop and found Sloppy Joe's. Neat building with some great exposed stone walls and some tin signs and such on the walls. We visited right before Christmas, and they had wrapped presents and santa hats around to give a nod to the season. We dined at the bar, and I noticed that they offered about eight different beers on tap. It was over 30 minutes after we ordered when the first of our food arrived, my chicken pot pie. The waitress did mention that the pot pie takes longer, about 15 minutes after I ordered it. It would have been nice to know that ahead of time, but we weren't on a time crunch. She also apologized for the wait after 30 mins, which I appreciate. It was another 5-10 minutes before Mr. R's sloppy joe sandwich arrived. The pot pie was practically the size of a football, with a nice flaky crust on top. It was hearty, stick to your ribs fare filled with shredded chicken, hunks of potato and carrots and peas, spiced with pepper. Great job on the pot pie. We have continued to visit here. I used to be luke warm on the food, but the latest iteration of the menu is pretty damn good. We stuck to classics like wings, burgers and a rotisserie chicken special, and everything was really well done. If I had to complain about the food, the vegetables with the chicken appeared to be frozen... seriously? Everything else was so on point, just drop the Veg if you cannot do it fresh. They have also added a very nice outdoor patio that is mostly covered. Really nice setting. On beer, they have also slightly improved the offerings. More micros/craft beers, fewer light domestics than I remembered. The beer selection could still be greatly improved, but it is certainly serviceable. This place seems to have become the defacto hang out for weekend harley dudes with ed hardy shirts and pre-ripped jeans, so if that is your jam, put on your Bret Michaels bandana and motor on over. Would like this place so much more if they had something unique... truly great micro tap selection, unique food, huge bourbon selection, beer flights... something to separate it from all the other similar places around. read more

No masks...no hand washing even sat at a table that had not been cleaned then only wiped down no sanitizing we had to ask for it to be done. Not sure why they haven't been closed down. I'm sure in time they will be when someone tests positive. It got so crowded when a group of motorcycles arrived. No limit to how many people were there. We left before placing our order. I get Washington and Ozaukee Counties believe COVID doesn't exist but when people from all over are coming in it's only a matter of time before someone tests positive and then business will really suffer. This is definitely my favorite place to hang out in Wisconsin. First, best bartending staff. Always fun and friendly and great drink knowledge. Second, the owners really go out of their way to accommodate. Great live music, lots of community involvement, and a top notch environment. The food. When you pull up, you are kicked in the face with the smell coming from that gigantic, blaze orange smoker outside. It dares you NOT to try the brisket or ribs which once you do, that's it! Game over. You will be hooked forever. They make their ribs and sauces from scratch and will make the choices to your liking. I highly recommend it. Update...I don't know what happened to this place. We used to love it and came here often for the past 10 years or so. In the past, occasionally the food would leave something to be desired but, overall it was very, very good. It has consistently gone downhill and the last time we came here it was terrible. Chicken was over cooked and dry. Ribs were lacking flavor and the the chili...it had a CLEAR BROTH and would have been better described as beef vegetable soup. First time to this classic dive bar. Cozy comfy bar with additional dining area and outdoor seating. The first thing you notice are the huge smokers right in front of the location. The entire block smells awesome with wisps of smoke in the air. I had the beef brisket sandwich which was insanely flavorful, juicy and succulent on a soft pretzel bun with bbq sauce and a "real" horsey sauce. I opted for the tater tots which were excellent, soft and potatoey on the inside with the perfect crunchy outside. My wife had the classic sloppy joe sandwhich which she raved about. Our server Laurie was friendly, funny and engaging and our food arrived quickly. My only comment would be that they could update their beer selection with some hip Milwaukee brews from Good City, Third Space or City Lights. We will be returning soon! read more

I was excited for the corn fritters but they were cooking and had to wait awhile for them. They seemed bland but I liked them. Maybe add something to sweeten it which would make it great.
