Slow Hand Coffee + Bakeshop is clearly doing something right--when I stopped by around 9:30am, most things were already sold out. I grabbed a bacon jalapeño muffin and coffee. The muffin was very delicious, easily the highlight! The server was kind and welcoming, which always makes a difference. It's not the coziest spot if you're looking to linger, although they did have working wifi and it was very bright with the windows. They do close early though, so getting there early is key. The baked goods looked amazing and their breakfast biscuits may just be some of the best around. Remember that rad vibe I was telling you about? Well, the people working were joking about their "mystery burrito" but assured me that it would be good. Since daring is my middle name, I took a chance on the fattest breakfast burrito I've seen since living in Arizona. Let me tell you, they flippin' nailed it! My mystery burrito turned out to be a bacon, potato, pimento cheese, and egg cornucopia of Heaven wrapped in the exact right type of tortilla. It will never cease to amaze me that people are still waiting in that insane Starbucks drive thru line when this place is right across the street. The food and drinks are delicious, clearly hand made (with love) and is no more expensive than the corporate BS across the street. Most mornings, before work, I can be in and out within 5-10 minutes with a delicious coffee and an even better biscuit sandwich (one of the best in the city in my opinion). I've also never met a barista/staff member there who wasn't incredibly welcoming and kind! We drove here on an early Sunday morning to grab coffee before a walk at Shelby park. The ambience is a small coffee shop with the hustle and bustle of people grabbing coffee and headed off to work, church, etc. The workers were nice and were patient while we looked at the bunch of delicious goodies they've got. Coffee: - Salted Caramel Latte (4.5/5) exactly as described. Just a delicious latte with a dash of salt and a good punch of caramel. Ooof this was the best thing I had for sure. Food: - Chocolate cheesecake brownie (3/5) good but not very sweet for a brownie, and the cheesecake portion was really hard to actually taste. I'd grab something else next time I come. - Lemon poppyseed muffin (4/5) really tasty and chalk full of icing and a hint of lemon flavor. Would of liked a bit more lemon taste, but also nice for those that don't love a bunch of acidity. I cant remember ever having so much option anxiety about coffee shoppe offerings, but I languished in it. The egg and cheese biscuit I ate was one of the very best I've ever had: a flaky, (but not dry) biscuit and an egg that was soft but not runny. It was quite wonderfully put together I must say. I visited at the perfect time of year to try literally almost all their pumpkin treats and every single one was sublime! I love the atmosphere inside this little shop for a cup of coffee and cranking out some work, and the big dog friendly front porch for a slow morning and conversation. A much welcomed coffee shop to a little strip of Gallatin that I hope is an on-going trend of walkable businesses and restaurants in East Nashville along Gallatin. It's nice to have more places that aren't just late night establishments and places to venture during the day. They've got great baked goods and their biscuit sandwiches are awesome. Pelican and Pig is going up adjacent to them and I'm excited for that concept of open fire cooking. The whole motiff is very rustic. The coffee is great, ample seating in the cafe and the biscuits they were serving were awesome. The chicken biscuit had amazing flavor. Not to mention he seasonings on the breading keep you wanting more. It's not greasy and didn't feel heavy. The biscuit was flaky and had a great time to them. Crunchy outside and creamy inside. I stopped by to grab some coffee and to satisfy my sweet/carb tooth.They have a large display that showcases what they currently have and we had trouble deciding which ones to get because they all looked so delicious. I ended up with the pumpkin scone, so freakin good and also massive for $3! I saved half and ended up eating that as a snack later in the day. I also got a latte which was good (not super coffee heavy just the way I like it!) I've read other reviews of slow/bad customer service and did not really experience that. The staff that helped us out were pleasant and service was great. It did take us a while to get our coffees, but hey it's covid what can you say? The biscuits, however, were hard, not flaky, on the outside and mushy inside where the egg had been sitting for quite some time. Place was amazing when it first opened. They lost their Cook and then it's never been the same since. I tried going back today and paid $14 for a burrito which was practically scalded by the heat lamp from sitting for so long. The coffee and baked goods are fine but what I don't like is that you can't get what you want on their menu for the entire time they're open. Once they run out of stuff they're done but originally you could go in and order food and they would just make it like a regular place and I miss that. read more

Yum! Slow Hand offers delicious coffee drinks and baked goods in east Nashville. I tried a mocha latte and it was lovely. My boyfriend tried a cinnamon latte and he also enjoyed it. We tried the cinnamon roll, pumpkin scone and red velvet cookie. The cinnamon roll was delicious, with a homemade cream cheese frosting and heavenly cinnamon flavor. Truly delicious! The red velvet cookie was the star of the show, perhaps the best cookie I've ever had. The exterior was crisp and sweet and the interior was moist and full of cream cheese pockets. I haven't even finished my drink or food and I needed to quickly write this review. My first thought was that it's incredible this coffee shop is surviving being across from the only Starbucks in East. Now that I've tried it, I understand why. The bakery case is scrumptiously appealing but the bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit is memorable. More then memorable, but simply delicious. They have this sandwich nailed down, and I was told the owner makes the biscuits fresh daily. I also tried the almond milk matcha and it was very, very good. Not too sugary or bitter which are big no no's from this matcha lover. Note: the only reason it didn't get five stars is due to the chai tea being sold out at 8:30am on a Wednesday. Slow Hand greets you with a counter full of pastries, both sweet and savory, which definitely get your appetite going! I couldn't resist when I saw the beautiful croissants laid out, ordered a jalapeño and cheese croissant. Unfortunately, the only menu in sight was on a clipboard kept by the register, so try to get your hands on it prior to getting to the register if you're a bit indecisive or take time to mull over choices (like me). My BF wanted the sausage biscuit, but they were out (and this was around 10 or 11 am) so he got the chicken biscuit instead. Was my croissant delicious? Yes! It was buttery and flaky, the cheese was nice and gooey and the jalapeños were not overwhelming, adding just the perfect balance of spice. Croissant wasn't burnt, although I would've liked it a little less crispy too. The chicken biscuit ended up being a winner! As seen in the picture, its arrives with a bold presentation. Chicken is so moist and juicy, cooked to perfection! Honestly you can't get juicer chicken than this. They use bread & butter pickles in this dish (which normally I avoid) but it imparts the perfect flavor onto the chicken. A little tang, a little sweet, combined with the mustard, is just delicious. I really like that if you're in the mood for just a small snack or light breakfast you can get that, but if you're in the mood for a heartier breakfast you can actually get it a coffee shop without compromising taste. 4.5 This was a pleasant surprise! I came here by accident. I'd been misled to believe that Pelican & Pig was open and I wanted to bring my out-of-town friends to a new spot. After parking (the lot is shallow and parking is tight; either rideshare or look for nearby street parking?), I discovered that Pelican & Pig was *not* open but the adjacent eatery was allowing Slow Hand patrons to sit and dine -- which is a good thing because on a Saturday morning, the place was packed. For a new establishment, this bodes well for the business and bad for customers. The word is already out and it hasn't yet been a month (two weeks?). I was okay with the old Gulch/SoBro location but this new Slow Hand iteration really knocked my socks off. The menu is much larger. Again, I don't know if that's them or P&P but I loved the options. The baked goods are just as enticing but this time, there are a few gluten-free options so now those with problematic bellies can go all in on the sweet stuff just like everyone else. I am not much of a coffee drinker, but the menu is diverse enough that it's easy for me to find something to fancy. For the coffee drinkers among you, you'll be very happy. My bean-addicted friends were all very satisfied. For right now, walk in, get in line and use that time to peruse the baked goods options (in kloches, available for adoption to your mouth/plate) and the menu so that by the time you reach the register, you can order and not gum up the works. Everything is made to order so it might take some time to get your food -- especially given how busy it is... especially on the weekend. Know this and bring patience. Also, it's Greenwood. Hipsters are breeding and that means a dining room full of children of varying degrees of behavedness. Since I am not a coffee person and had had a bunch of caffeine (from tea) in the days leading up to my visit, I got water to drink. It was room temperature (the current trend, I was told) and smelled like formaldehyde. That was my biggest ding of the visit. Because I am a fatty and couldn't resist gluten-free goodies, I chose two: the flourless brownie and the chocolate cookie. The brownie was light, cake-like and wonderfully chocolately. My cookie was a dense, chewy, dark chocolate (with flecks of white chocolate) masterpiece. I was sad when I'd finished it. Lest you think me an animal, I had both of those items (and not at the same time) after my savory food. Not having the option of a gluten-free biscuit, I was unable to enjoy the mouth-watering breakfast sandwiches my friends enjoyed. They looked and smelled heavenly. That doesn't mean I went without. I had breakfast tacos complete with green salsa, thick-cut bacon, eggs, and french fries in a double corn tortilla. By the time we were all finished with our food, we needed to sit and digest a bit. Everyone was happy, I looked like a genius for bringing us and I'd made a note to self to come back (during a weekday). Slow Hand's move out east looks really good on 'em. There are four 2-person tables and a couple stools at a bar. The floor was dirty. Slow Hand really deserves 2.5 stars. They had some complications, including being out of decaf coffee. Their breakfast sandwich was also pretty salty. The space is clean and I like how you can sit in the Pelican & Pig area. It's also kid-friendly which is a plus in my book, but the lack of decaf was super sad. They also didn't really have any other options for people who don't drink caffeine. We are people too! We deserve a warm beverage without losing our minds from the caffeine rush. read more
