The pancakes were absolutely amazing and wonderful. They were simple yet so well fine. Each pancake had its own unique flavor and was perfect for the start of a Sunday morning. The dining room felt like an extended family breakfast. The staff was amazingly attentive and were great stewards of their crash. Even down to those who were tidying up the tables, allowing for the next guest to sit down. There's a high level of detail even down to someone forgetting a thermos an hour after they had left the restaurant. My only complaint is that there's not one in South Carolina however, I'll get over it and that just simply means I need to come visit Nashville more often. read more

The wait to get in was pretty long, and unfortunately, their pop machine wasn't working, so they were serving drinks from 2-liter bottles. One of our people happened to be in the bathroom when they were ready to seat us, and they didn't want to seat the rest of us until she came back, which was a little frustrating. We waited 30-40 minutes in line just to get a table, followed by another 15 minutes for the food to arrive. After waiting nearly an hour, I was honestly expecting something exceptional, but I came away feeling underwhelmed. They have a huge variety of pancakes on the menu, which is impressive, but the flavors didn't really stand out. We ordered the Sweet Potato Pancakes, but they didn't really taste like sweet potato. The Blueberry Pancakes were good but felt like something you could get at many other breakfast spots. The hash browns were another disappointment--they were essentially just grilled, smashed potatoes and lacked the crispy texture I was expecting. I also ordered the Chorizo Quesadilla, which tasted pretty plain and could have used much more seasoning and flavor. The French Toast was good, but the real highlight of the meal was the hot chocolate. It was rich, comforting, and easily my favorite item we ordered. I've heard such wonderful things about Pancake Pantry. So, it was a quick decision when the daughter asked me where I wanted to go for breakfast. She warned me that there's always a wait, but being a Monday, I thought it would be ok. We were surprised to find parking right across the street, then arrive to no line and being seated right away. We had never been to The Pancake Pantry before, but after seeing online that it's basically a Nashville icon that's been around since 1961, we knew we had to try it while we were in town. I don't understand how this place has 4.5 stars. We ordered through Postmates and the food was disgusting and not as advertised. Breakfast tacos only had egg and greasy, under seasoned pork belly in a flour tortilla (when the heck do tacos have flour tortillas?). Paid parking lot behind the restaurant (I believe there is some sort of discount if you eat here - inquire inside). When you first walk up to pancake pantry you will notice a line out the door. This made me excited to try pancake pantry. After we were seated the service was pretty slow. We were seated with 3 waters instead of 4 and there was a fourth person in our party with us, we did eventually get another water. After that it took an unusually long time for someone to come take our drink orders and from there everything was pretty slow. The food did not come out together either. The pancakes were just regular pancakes nothing special but I will say the plain pancake was tasty and the best of the ones we tried. Most of the pancakes with flavors just had toppings. I did like the warm maple syrup! The portion sizes are not bad but for the price I'm not sure it's worth it. Also the black coffee had a burnt taste so I did have to use creamer. It helped that it was just a quick walk from our VRBO, but more importantly, it's the best breakfast I've ever had. The pancakes are unbelievably good, the Grill Cook's Medley is a flavor bomb, and the breakfast tacos were rich, filling, and delicious. We will always eat at Pancake Pantry when we're in Nashville.
