    pulled pork meal deal
    Joan E.

Drove out of our way to get to this place. We originally found it at a barn dance- my first pulled pork food truck experience. So delicious!! Today I had the smoked turkey, Carolina Style, with Bud's BBQ sweet sauce. Amazing! Will be having sweet dreams of slow smoked until we meet again. The place is clean, staff are nice, good music. Not expensive. Highly recommend but come early- they are open until sold out.

    So goooood!!!

The sauces come in a variety of flavors and every single one of them are yummy! The brisket is slow smoked and tender. I ordered 2 brisket sandwiches and sides of cole slaw for about $20. The cole slaw was creamy with a hint of spice and paired with the brisket and the many sauces so well. My only complaint is that I was already half way back to Chicago before I realized that I should've ordered another for the road. For the price and the flavor it was surely well worth the trip.

Found this place Sat while out and about. We had the pulled pork sandwich. Good amount of meat, with a nice amount of mild smoke. I'm guessing they use a fruitwood. It was very good, as were their sauces. You have two to choose from a sweet and a spicy, both were tasty. I mixed them for a third that hit for me. This is a food truck or really a food trailer. Pretty limited menu when we were there. Pulled pork, brisket, chips, and canned soda. Didn't see any other sides or options. Carry out or use the picnic table in the lot, not a lot of frills. I didn't see any smoker, so they must be cooking off site. I'm generally opposed to that, but in this case it works. It is by far the best BBQ in Dekalb or Sycamore that I've had recently. The four star rating might be a tad high, but in relative terms, it's beyond any other place in town. It's clean and simple, the owner (I'm assuming that the guy working was the owner) was pleasant. Can't ask for much more.

Easily the best BBQ I've ever had. Very friendly owners, nicely priced, and close to home!

The butcher and pit master, showed me the fresh cuts, including organic Amish chicken, seasoned with his distinctive spices, I can tell you it was a hit with the family. I also got the meat and sausage roll and the two meat combo with pork chop and bbq ribs, yummy. The hot food comes rapped with aluminum foil with each hot item getting its own pocket of foil. Like I said, this is Americana, with that hint of nostalgia come a lot of food for a very reasonable price, including home made salads, like traditional loaded potatoes salad, creamy coleslaw to more adventurous, Shrimp Macaroni Salad, and Bowtie Crab Salad. I will definitely have to get some steaks and home made sausages for the grill monster, and might even try some of their fresh habanero cornbread. Man my mouth is watering just thinking about it! The service is nice and welcoming, and the ambiance is roadside bbq shack meets clean and orderly butcher shop, in what looks like a country store with plenty of benches outside to nosh on.

Has a pretty large amount of basic and gourmet toppings to choose from. The prices are higher than the crap chains but it's much better tasting. Always busy. It's a pretty good sign that people like to come here. This is located pretty close to NIU so obviously the name is pretty easy to understand for even the thickest skulled of frat boys and other college students. A few words to get their attention. Have to speak the language of the locals. A crap ton of local beers. It's about $8 a pint. Splurge a bit more for some finely aged whiskey. It's about $18 for a medium pizza. That's kind of a lot but this isn't mass produced chain pizza though. Also you can get it with vegan cheese. This melts like the real stuff. We got one of the Sergeant Pepper pizzas New York style. Filling. This comes with arugula, black olives, cherry tomatoes, green peppers, mozzarella but we got the vegan substitute, mushrooms, and onions. Big enough for a couple. They have even bigger ones that are expensive but are good for parties. Crazy place for tons of good drinking and eating. It's located on West State Street. There's good options for meat eaters as well as vegans and vegetarians.

We ordered a breakfast sandwich on a croissant and the Nutella crepes with strawberries. Both items were very large portions for a good value and came out relatively quickly. We went with our baby and were able to put the car seat in the booth with us because the tables are very big, which is great. The restaurant has music on, but just loud enough to hear, but quiet enough to have a comfortable conversation without being distracted or having to yell. Overall, I would recommend anyone going to find a quality breakfast at a reasonable price.

PJ's has a lot of typical tavern fare including booze and fried stuff. Also some things are healthier. The prices aren't that bad especially with the specials they often have so ask about these. Came at lunch and we got seats at the bar. It's got enough room that you could bring a group. There's also more dining on another side so plenty of tables. Has pretty much what's expected at a tavern as far as drinks and food. It's about $5 for the cheapest cocktails, so okay prices. The best one of these we had was the Wheatley Vodka Club, which is ironically pretty simple. It's $11 for the Beyond Burger. This comes with lettuce, onions, and tomatoes. Fries are on the side or you can get something else. The rest of the menu is pretty meaty with things like burgers, hot dogs, and the Italian beef sandwiches. Has a lot of things to like here.
