Ordered takeout and got the prosciutto and brie panino with spinach and tomatoes ($10), as well as the churros ($5). I had been here once before and gotten the salmon bagel ($9), which was amazing. This place doesn't disappoint! I loved the flavor combination of my panino, and they didn't skimp on any of the toppings. I believe they use a pretzel bread, which makes it that much more filling and has an incredible texture and taste. However, the star of the show was the churros, which come with an apple spread. The texture of the churros was different than the kind I am used to--softer and less crunchy on the outside. I didn't find it too sweet, which can sometimes happen with churros for me. The best part for me was the apple spread, which was also not too sweet and balanced out all the sugar on the churro quite well! I'll definitely be back. read more

This is the coffee shop of my dreams! It's the perfect place to get some work done or sit and catch up with a friend. Incredibly chill vibe, which caters to the name and hilarious mascots. I immediately felt at ease coming through the doors, and already want to come back! This place not only has coffee and tea, but also beer and wine and a food menu too. I had a 20 oz Iced Matcha Latte that was very refreshing. I came here with about an hour to kill, and now I wish I had more time to hang out here. The staff are very welcoming and friendly, and everyone seems happy to be here - unlike other places I have been where it seems like the staff are already one foot out the door. I had a little trouble finding the location, which is tucked in the back of a nice shopping/office complex. However, there is an attached garage with validated parking up to 3 hours for the attached restaurants. Slowpokes is located just across the street from Levy Park, which could be a great place to take your drink when the weather is good! Can't wait to come back to this spot. read more

Got the vanilla ube iced latte (no picture) and was so disappointed. Looked amazing but just tasted like a sweet iced latte. The crostini was good, especially the cheese: tasted like a rustic version of pizza. My favorite thing was definitely the board games, they had so many!! Most people were there to study but it would definitely be a fun place for a hangout. I was also really amazed by the service, the barista was so friendly, pleasant, and went out of his way to be hospitable. Also, if you parked in the garage you can get your ticket validated. First time here, located right in front of Levy park, there's a parking garage for parking just case you don't want to do street parking. Just an FYI you can't see it from the street lol. I loved the decor, there is plenty of seating outside and inside. I went around 5 on a Friday and the inside was packed with people studying.(A great study spot) The decor is super cute, if you plan on sitting outside you'll get a nice view of levy park. The drinks were pretty good, I tried the With Love latte(honey and cinnamon) there was a bit of a weird after taste but it wasn't bad. We also had an Iced Honey Pea, the ham and cheese Brie and the breakfast bagel. Those three were really good, I'll definitely be returning. read more

I have been visiting many Houston coffee shops as I have been studying this month. This has been one of my favorites. Good drink selection and GREAT food selection. Breakfast tacos and chicken sandwich were fire. The service was great and the ambiance is laid back but very clean and feels fancy. I love the sloth and snail decorations. I love Slowpokes! First off the customer service is the wonderful. Everyone is friendly and seems happy to be there. The space is my favorite in Houston as well, with abundant natural light and large tables, making it conducive for both studying and hanging out with friends. I came here during a weekday in the midst of the pandemic. They were open and we're taking special precautions (social distancing, blocking off chairs and tables, contactless pay, plexiglass at the register). I parked in the parking garage. There are signs saying that you will get towed if you park in front of Levy Park and go to the restaurant FYI. They validate parking so park in the garage! I ordered the PB&J to go. The bread wasn't your typical white loaf slices. It was fresh and chewy. The strawberry jelly and peanut butter was also tasty. Customer service was very good too! CHAI LATTE What I liked about this drink was that it wasn't overly sweet. It was smooth, but it needed more chai flavors. I wanted a little more spice to it, but it wasn't bad. It was a good cup of chai to start the day. CHICKEN PESTO PANINO- avocado, mozzarella, arugula, and aioli This was a good sandwich. I liked the pesto flavor and the chicken was meaty. The arugula was earthy, but it tied in well with the herb-y pesto and the chicken flavors. I would order this again. It was light, but filling. LET IT BRIE- mozzarella, brie, pear, and arugula I didn't think I would like this flatbread, but I did. The pear really helps to hold all the flavors together because the arugula can be a bit bitter, but with the mozzarella and the pear, it balances everything out. APPLE BLOSSOM- blended green tea with apple, jasmine, and florals I love hot tea and this tea wasn't bad. It didn't really stand out to me, but the aroma was good and I liked the fruitiness of it. The light jasmine flavor really carried the fruits well. I wouldn't mind buying a bag of this tea to enjoy at home at my own leisure. Overall, I had a great experience. Also the seats were wooden benches, and not very comfortable. Favorite coffeeshop in this area! Lovely location next to Levy park where you can grab a coffee here and stroll around the park. Seating is plentiful, but it can get busy here during peak hours. They have a happy hour M-F from 4-7, which is great to reward yourself after working hard for a few hours. During happy hour they have $4 drafts and $5 wine glasses, as well as this amazing $3 soft pretzel that you must absolutely try (normally $4). On Wednesday's, they have half-price wine bottles (normally $35ish and up) which is great to share with friends. House coffee is yummy and a great price ($2). You get 10% off if you bring in your own tumbler! Tacos are also really yummy. The baristas are wonderful. Parking is plentiful on the street (3 hr) and I believe they also validate garage parking. They're fine with dogs in the outside tables and I've seen people come in to order to-go with their pooches. read more

The first thing I noticed about this place is that the parking situation is not optimal. It's right next to a park and so most of the parking is reserved for park-goers. There is some streetside parking a bit further away though, so it is possible to find free parking. You need your receipt in order to log into their wifi, but even then the wifi is a bit slow. They have a large menu so everyone can find something they like here. I had the lazy latte which is a latte with lavender and honey. It was really good- the lavender taste was apparent, but subtle. They were quick with making all the drinks too. There is lots of large tables and enough seating to handle the Sunday afternoon study crowd. There's outlets along the wall and the atmosphere is quiet. read more

The energy was awesome, employees were friendly and the decor was eclectic and cool. There was music playing and while I enjoyed it quite a bit, it was loud so this isn't the best place to work or study quietly. As a matter of fact, it seems more like a place to meet with friends. There are even a bunch of board games available to play. Also, the seats aren't extremely comfortable so it made for a short visit. However, the tea I ordered was hot and tasty. Stopped by here for the Yelp Elite event and loved their seasonal coffees! Lots of fun and creative flavors to try! Their churro donuts were also very good. The sauce was not my favorite, but the churro donuts were good enough on their own! Also not sure if this was intentional, but when I was there, someone brought out our food and then another worker started talking to them to ask about something, and we are just standing there on the other side of the bar waiting for their conversation to end in order to get our food, which was in the worker's hand in front of us.. we joked that they really do put the "slowpoke" in Slowpokes but next time maybe just give us the food first :) read more

Get: any latte (especially their seasonal lattes!), flatbreads, chicken pesto sandwich Avoid: parking in the parking garage and staying more than 3 hours! (Ie if you're studying) - it costs $9 with their validation if you stay over 3 hours. Sunny days it can get crowded. This is a great coffee shop to study at. Their coffee is good, but their food is even better!! I always get the chicken pesto sandwich but really there are no bad options. If you want you can switch breads too! Their latte is quite nice, but I think they are a bit smaller than other places. The people who work here and very personable and friendly. Be aware of the parking though. You can park on some spots on the street but make sure you're not near a fire hydrant. Also the parking immediately in front of the coffee shop is only for the park. They do validate parking for the garage, but it is only for 3 hours, so if you come here to study keep an eye on the time! I will definitely come back! read more

My first time and I've been meaning to come here forever!! First impression was great I sat in there for a while after I ate because I was so comfortable. I LOVED how nice and cold it was in there. It's way too hot outside and so many stores and restaurants aren't willing to turn the AC colder. If you get cold easy and plan to stay awhile maybe bring a light jacket though. I decided to take a chance and try their rose and pistachio latte. I can't say I could taste either flavor distinctively from each other and in general it was an average latte. I also tried the oh-one-eight flatbread and added roasted peppers and onions. I think it was a bit too greasy for me and just wasn't my taste but don't let it deter you I fully think it was just not for me it tasted fine. They also have loads of merchandise and drinks and pastries available at the front. When the weathers nicer you can sit outside as well! I look forward to being back soon and trying new items and maybe bringing something to work on and new people!! read more

I was a fan of the original Slowpokes location and this has been an upgrade in almost every way. The cortado: The same as the first location. It's creamy, it's heavy, but the flavor overall is a bit milder than most. It has some chocolatey and bitter notes. It's pretty solid and unoffensive, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. Other drinks: The cold brew varies a bit. It isn't too reliable, so it can sometimes be hit or miss. The chai tea latte is very syrupy and sweet, so you'll like it if you're into that. The house blend pour over was decent. It was a bit more acidic and fruity than I generally prefer, and they have other rotating roasters which have been Ethiopian for a while which are also generally very acidic and fruity. I haven't had a drink that I hated, but I haven't loved everything I've gotten either. The food: I had the molletes which I liked, but I have nothing to compare them to. It was a solid biscuit with beans and cheese on top, and I like all of those ingredients. Several of my friends have enjoyed the chicken pesto panino. The shop and location: I love the location. First, it's closer and more convenient than the original. It also has a really nice park outside that you can enjoy when you need a break from the indoors. There's generally ample street parking, but they also validate parking for 3 hours (I think) if you park in the garage next door. Inside isn't super bright, but the large windows do allow for some natural lighting. It can get a little loud here too. If I am lucky enough, I really like to sit in the booths, which sort of isolate you which is great if you're working or on a date or something. The location and physical space are what puts this place so high on my list. My only complaints about this place at all are that it can be pretty cold inside and that it can get loud. Overall, Slowpokes is a solid coffee shop and excellently balances having some real character in the decor without feeling too cluttered or overwhelming. I like the cortado, and most drinks and food I've had or heard of have been good. I'd easily recommend coming here to anyone. read more

It tastes exactly how it is described except it gets hard after it cools down. Flavor wise it's good, but texture is too hard for what it is. -fig&prosciutto sandwich - RECOMMEND. one of the most tasty sandwiches i had. It isn't strong in terms of flavor. What i enjoy about it is the balance with the sweet/tart of the fig jam and the slightly salty prosciutto. I just wish it would be a tad bit more filling.
