While visiting Madeira beach we stopped for some pizza at Slyce. It has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and is located in a good location. We decided to try the Slyce special and it was delicious. I am glad we got the individual sized pie because it was big enough to share! In addition to the pizza we ordered the savory wagon wheel. Now I have to say I love cheese but I did not particularly care for the wagon wheel. The consistency of the baked brie made it difficult for me to enjoy it. I did however appreciate and enjoy the fresh fruit and crackers that came with the wagon wheel. Overall the pizza was good but I'm not sure it was good enough for a second trip with so many other food options available in the area. read more

Ok... I'd give a 5 for the pizza, and that's coming from a NY guy!!! However the service knocks this place down to a 3, and that's me being nice. Where do I start... we were told 15 minutes wait and a half hour later we're walking back up going how much longer will it be... they looked at each other and say didn't you get a text, and we said no... so we finally got seated. It took forever for our drinks to come out. Then we were a party of 4 and 3 meals came out... mine did not. 20 minutes later my pizza came out, no apologies nothing but here you go. I'll say it again the pizza was good. I ate half and was ready to go... we had to ask for the bill... the waitress never came back even though we asked for another drink. She brought the drink with the check. Now I had half a pie left and she doesn't even ask if I want a to go box. She drops the bill down and walks away.. My wife, daughter, and I stopped in Slyce on Friday August 5th, 2022. It was our first visit, but it won't be our last. We arrived a little after 5:00, and there was already a good crowd. We were lucky to get one of the last available tables inside. We started with the Wagon Wheel (original). It is baked brie and comes with crackers and fruit. It was very tasty. The three of us each ordered individual size pizzas. My daughter created her own, it was cheese pizza with pineapple. My wife had the Pear A Dice, and I had the Beach Bird. We shared all three and we all agreed they were very good. My family is from Chicago, so we know a thing or two about good pizza...and this is good pizza! Both my husband & I came here for dinner taking a seat at the bar. I really appreciated the ramp to get in and out being not a fan of stairs. Once inside we were friendly greeted by the host. Our server was Brandon who was on point & took super care of us, friendly and even giving us a few points of interest not to miss. Wonderful lunch specials and views at the Madeira Beach slice location. I had the slice and salad lunch special and it was delicious. I added mushrooms on my pizza for 50 cents as the special is just cheese pizza. The salad was colorful and a great size for a lunch special. We really enjoy this place. Since the Slyce in St. Pete Beach closed we have found the Slyce at Madeira. Their pizza recipe fits our palate, they have a decent draft beer selection and the view and breeze from the deck separate enhances the ambiance. The food was good but the service was terrible. We had a party of four and only three of the pizzas were brought to the table. When we were finally able to flag someone down and ask about the fourth one they brought it out burnt. We sent it back and they returned about ten minutes later with another one which was also burnt. The server tried to convince us it wasn't actually burnt and to look underneath. The crust around the edges was black and inedible. Let me preface by saying I don't even eat pears but I was intrigued. Ordered pizza and was told they had no delivery drivers so we did carry out. After all, it was only 2.2 miles away. Well... that included a bridge closure which resulted in an estimated 50 minute drive! So we parked and walked 2 miles for the pizza. Went to Slyce after a beach day and it was awesome! There was live music outside and a bunch of tv's outside and inside. The waiter was great and put on the football game we wanted to watch. The food was top notch. Our party ordered the spinach artichoke dip as an appetizer and it was delicious! We got the house salad, Caesar salad, and Greek salad. All were fresh and yummy! Had delivery to the DoubleTree Hilton in North Redington Beach. French dip pizza was excellent, with yummy well cooked crust (like a hand tossed) and horseradish cream sauce instead of red sauce, we dipped the crust in the au jus, even better cold the 2nd day. Was one of the original customers, at both soft openings, original and after Irma. Food was always overpriced, but expected considering this is a tourist destination. Great water view, fun games and outdoor area. BUT my last visit was TOTALLY unacceptable. Created by a manager (I had never met) by staring at me across the bar. We ordered drinks and food, then an altercation happened BESIDE us, and she cut us off. Literally two drinks and food was all we had. I really feel she thought we were someone else, but so rude and no explanations from management. The bartender did come over to apologize, just the strangest, rudest encounter at a restaurant EVER. In the last year I've been twice- once for take out, once on the patio- both times we had the Buffalo chicken pizza with a Caesar salad. Great both times but not the best pizza ever. I have fond memories of their other location but they've revamped completely- before the sold customizable large slices- now you can get personal or shareable sized whole pies. In my memory this has always been 5 stars. And I don't know if that's just because of all the fun times I've spent here? Or because it was the pizza we ordered and ate on a cardboard box, the first night in our home when we moved here. I really like the outdoor patio here and since eating at restaurants is such an unknown and strange thing right now it felt like a comfortable choice. This held up. I really like how vibey they make it a restaurant in a Publix grocery lot feel. Especially when they have live music. The signature dry rub wings are a hit every time. Likewise the house salad is a solid choice. The pizzas are fun. The toppings are unique and my creative soul and palate super enjoys that. The pizza taste itself is just good. Not sensational. I find the fault to be in the crust. And so I love this pizza, I do. But maybe I've just had much better in the past year, and maybe I have gotten pickier. It just feels like a lot of money for a good pizza. If you take a peek at the photo I shared with the "Pear of Dice" you'll notice a relatively (what is the opposite of generous?) sad amount of pear and prosciutto. Ironically enough while I was underwhelmed by my food for the first time at Slyce last night. The service was just the opposite! I have never had a better time with an employee at Slyce. I recently enjoyed wood fired pizza and a fun atmosphere at a place called Slyce in the Madeira Beach area! They have a good amount of seating inside, plus an outside deck that overlooks the intercoastal waters. Our server was friendly and accomodating to our party that included kids. It does get loud inside when it gets busy here on the weekend. Thankfully we got here early and avoided the dinner rush. Our server said it was happy hour, so we ordered some drinks, but then later realized it was the weekend and there was no happy hour. Not a big deal as were going to order drinks anyway. This is a spendy place for pizza, but the wood fired pizza tastes so good! It hit my humanly craving for foods cooked over a fire. We tried an assortment of pies, including the Chicago deep dish and a create-your-own with a few different meats. I didn't like the Chicago as much as I thought I would but the others were good. The pizza is awesome the price is awful!!! $62 for one large pizza and 3 sides and this was ordered for pickup. Not only is it expensive they expect a tip,,, so my total bill for a pickup pizza night was over $70 and that was without beer!!! Now we first were direct to order online and the cost online was $42 and then when we hit submit the system stated that the Maderia location was not accepting online orders so I call and all of the phone prices were significantly higher. We've enjoyed this place a number of times with Mel's folks, who live in the area, but this was the first time we've come on our own. First off, there's no overstating the beauty of Slyce's location. On the second floor of a waterside location in Madeira Beach, it offers gorgeous intracoastal views for patrons who enjoy outside dining. Plenty of comfortable seating out on their patio to enjoy those views, too. Now, word of advice-come hungry! If you're at all like me and portion control goes out the window when it comes to good pizza, you're going to walk out of Slyce stuffed and ready for a nap! On this particular visit, Mel and I actually enjoyed a few cocktails and an appetizer before indulging in pizza. Mel ordered the Strawberry Balsamic Martini, while I went with their Classic Manhattan. Both were artfully constructed (see pictures) and both were quite strong. In fact, the martini was a bit too strong for its intended flavors to really come through, but I chalk that up to them working with a trainee bartender. The Manhattan came out perfectly, so, again, inconsistencies due to inexperience, I think. Our appetizer was delicious, as well - spinach artichoke wontons! The wantons were baked to a light crisp, filled with the aforementioned goodies and served with two dips, a cusabi dressing and a sweet thai chili sauce. My preference was for the cusabi, but both were fine complements for the spinach-artichoke flavor. Finally, the pizza. Our go-to here is the Slyce Special - pepperoni, green olives, and extra Mozzarella! Never go wrong with the classics! Their menu has plenty of more creative options and many of them are quite good, but we always come back to this one - the saltiness of the olives brings out the other flavors of their sauce and the pepperoni delightfully!
