Finding this spot isn't the easiest but if you park in the hotel parking lot you can take the elevator up to level M. The restaurant is located in a triage of two other restaurants. There's a host for the lobby if all 3 restaurants and they will direct you where you need to go. SM23 is a trendy lounge. They have an extensive drink menu! They also have a small plate selection. I came in for happy hour and it was packed. The bartender navigated with grace which was delightful to see. I ordered the calamari and the dim sum shrimp dumplings, as well as a margarita. The margarita was delicious!! Probably one of the best margaritas I've ever had. The calamari was very good and I loved the sweet and sour sauce it came with. The dim sum dumplings were just ok for me. They were pan fried and I expected them to be steamed. I also wasn't a fan of the sauce it came with so I just used the sauce I had for my calamari. This place definitely has potential, but it just wasn't there tonight. Here on a quiet Saturday evening: bossa nova music is softly playing, and service is extremely slow. It made for a very sleepy vibe. My cocktail, which took at least 15 minutes to order, was pretty good. The SM23 mule, however, did not have any ginger beer flavor to taste like a mule. It was a good cocktail if it were called something else. We waited about 20 minutes for the bill, which never showed up, so we paid at the bar. It was probably better to order at the bar, too, since servers were virtually nonexistent, although it was empty. I would recommend someone visit for a first date since the sleepy music was perfect for a casual convo. I would also suggest ordering and paying at the bar. read more

One of my girlfriends and I decided to come here to celebrate her birthday. When we arrived I had to find street parking a little distance away. I couldn't find the entrance so I walked through the hotel, past the movie theater and found the spot. I was told by who I believe was the manager or owner of the 3 places, there was garage parking that they would validate for us for next time and that would make access easier. The place was a small lounge setting with a bar and cute section seats. I was able to sit where I wanted. They had a playlist going with some music. We were served by Cruz and Sophie which were also the bartenders and they were nice. I got the raspberry and lemongrass martini and it was pretty good. Followed by Cruz's special drink he made for me and that was good too. My friend got the grapefruit mojito which she loved and the steamed shrimp dumplings. She said that was good as well. The bill came to about $65 gratuity included because food was ordered. All in all we had a good experience. read more

Great Service, delicious drinks and really good food! I came here a few weeks ago and had been here for New Years precovid with my boyfriend and we truly enjoy this place when we're in the Morristown area! In our recent visit, we had initially decided to come here just for drinks however since we were getting a bit hungry we decided to first get a snack here. We went with the shrimp dumplings which were really flavorful and delicious and paired really well with our drinks. After sometime, we asked our waiter if we could order dinner and thankfully he said we could from the restaurant next door called Ming II (I believe the owner is the same as SM23). We ordered the Drums of Heaven and the Pad Thai which were SOOO yummy! Also our waiter gave us delicious shots on the house to try which was very good as well! It's fairly small in space but has a full bar and coordinates with a neighboring restaurant to offer a selection of small plates. The drinks are reasonably priced, I paid $12 for the "English Garden" gin cocktail which was very refreshing and pretty big. My only wish is that they had slightly louder music/different selection of music (but that's just personal preference). The staff/bartenders are very nice, friendly and offer excellent customer service. When I went there it was not busy at all (considering it was the weekend, after 9pm). What a hidden gem! Literally! It was a little difficult to find but I didn't mind the adventure. Once we arrived we walked into a small, romantic lounge. All the tables had a small candle at the center of the table that made the ambience very intimate. The lounge has booths all along the walls for seating. There is seating at the bar as well. I noticed that there were two TVs displaying different kinds of art which I thought was better than sports playing in the background. All the severs seemed to work together since we had different people check on us. They have a good selection of cocktails, bourbon, and wine. I was very impressed with all of the choices. Always a great place. Have been there a few times both on a date night and with a group for a birthday. Not really a place I would see a group party taking shots and partying hard, but to each their own! It's a great change of pace when you're looking for something different that's not the usual craziness and noise of the other bars in Morristown (Laundromat, Iron Bar, etc.) LOCATION: Easiest way to get in there is behind the building to the right of where GPS shows. Alternatively you could go through the lobby of the hotel and from that point it is a good 3-4 min walk to get there. (Picture Attached) I have only Uber'd there, but I would imagine parking is tough there since there is no lot, but there definitely is street paring always in rotation. If you want to go out to a bar after to get a little crazy, you can! The Main Street where all the other bars are were about a half mile walk from there (7-8 mins). ATMOSPHERE: Small and great end to a date night dinner. While there are a few groups of 4-5 people you will see there, you will find that the vast majority of the guests there are couples. Music is also great, it is typically some chilled out house music but the DJ always keeps some good mixes coming. COCKTAILS: You'll find some amazing drinks and a menu that changes seasonally. You can definitely tell that the ingredients are all fresh and that the mixologists really do love what they do! This time I was there I changed up my flavor profile completely. I had the "Relax in my Garden" and the "English Garden", great Gin cocktails with fresh cucumber and some elderflower liqueur, the cool part about the "Relax" is that it has CBD oil in it. I figured I would give the CBD craze a shot and boy did that drink pack a punch with some amazing flavors. PRICE: The drinks are definitely a little pricey for Morristown but they do pack a punch for the price you pay as well. The price is easily overlooked for the quality of cocktail you get. read more

It's a little tricky especially with the construction going on to find the entrance. But once we got there, it was pretty empty when we arrived for a weekend late afternoon. It was in the middle of this empty indoor mall and pretty much behind one of three doors a la Let's Make a Deal, as it is adjacent to two other restaurants/bar/lounges. I honestly felt like we were in a role-playing video game finding our way to the end of the stage when attempting to locate this lounge. Alright, so once we were there, there was a rather large seating area and appetizers available for us, as I believe my cousin called in a reservation with a fixed price that included appetizers and a drink list. The apps were good and it was more of a buffet style. There were dumplings and mini spring rolls and I believe chicken wings. We were able to order from the drink list and the cocktails and beers were pretty good. If I had one criticism it would be the music - it started off a little awkward and then there were some repeats in his playlist and you could tell that the sound quality was a little off because it didn't look like he had the right gear for that kind of a room. Awesome place! Very hidden which is cool. I love he lighting- very dark. Small place but cool vibe. Bar seating and small little tables/booths with stools. Candle lighting looks nice in here. Music was really good! Fun and upbeat. There were cool paintings on the TVs that would rotate through after awhile. The employees were all really nice and told us they stamp your parking ticket to receive free parking for up to four hours-also a nice touch. There's a drink menu too, which is nice for someone like me that never knows what to order. I tried their signature martini called SM23. It was a Lychee Martini and it was delicious! My boyfriend got an Old Fashioned and he said it was really good as well. We ate before we came, so we didn't try the food but it looked really good too. One of the few quality lounge / bars in Morristown, this is a great spot to take a date or go with friends for a few drinks in a really chill, trendy atmosphere. I've been here 6-7 times over the past 6 years and I've noticed the same things every time: 1. Good, friendly bartenders 2. Delicious cocktails 3. Good music / good DJ's (deep house / electro / chill) 4. Very dark lighting 5. It's kind of difficult to hear conversation if you aren't in close with the one talking Last time I was here was a Saturday night, every seat was taken but it wasn't packed, just the right amount of people. It was easy to get a drink, as bartenders came out from the bar to take orders from the banquettes and tables. Their cocktails are probably the most "mixology" type you can find in Morristown. One of my favorites is the Penicillin Cocktail, which is made up of Johnny Walker Black scotch, lemon juice, honey, simple syrup and ginger extract topped with the Islay single malt scotch, Ardbeg, which gives it a smokey kick at the end. It didn't take long for a table to open up and I sat down with my friends. The music was really good that night, but no one really dances at this place. In reference to my list above, comment #5, since no one is dancing, it might make sense to lower the volume a tad, since this place is more about conversation. Parking is easy, just park in the garage under the Hyatt, and then get your parking ticket validated near the coat check area. Now this place is a lounge!!!! (NY vibe) The atmosphere was stunning. It had a nice, dark and sexy vibe going on. Would be a great place for a nice date or for a small group of friends. The lounge is indeed small, but intimate and very cozy. This is not the place to go to for a quick average drink. You want to come here if you are in the mood for a nice stiff specialty cocktail. I had a Mango Mojito, and it was the best I have had thus far.YUMMMMMMM!! The bartender was kind enough to show me how much mango Cruzan rum goes in the drink, and I was impressed. I personally like all flavored mojitos to be made with Cruzan rums. So this place gets extra points on the rum choice. I then had a Grilled Pineapple & Cracked Pepper martini. I know it sounds odd, but it was strangely delicious, and stiff enough to be your last drink. They infused the pepper in the Prairie vodka themselves; which was really cool. If you like a nice spicy after taste than this is your drink. I went after work hours and there was actually a pretty decent size after work crowd for a Monday. They have happy hour that consist of your basic wine and well drinks, but it does not include the specialty cocktails. I'm not sure I would indulge in happy hour drinks, when they have a good amount of delicious cocktails to choose from. The cocktails are not cheap, but well worth splurging once in a while. They have food and apps but didn't try it.The bartender on duty was super cool, and really understood the art of mixology. Love this cute little bar! I've been here a couple of times and I love how unique the drinks are! They have everything from sweet to spicy to sour drinks. And when I say spicy I mean burning the back of your throat spicy. I highly recommend the "Grilled Pineapple & Cracked Pepper" if you like spicy or the "Rapsberry Pimm's Cup" if you like something more sweet and fruity. They pretty much have something for everyone here. Price-wise, it is a little more on the expensive side so get ready to pay NYC prices for these drinks, signature cocktails are $13. Personally, I think it's worth it solely for the uniqueness and the ambiance of this place. I recently had a milestone birthday party here at this bar/lounge and Goldie, the manager, and his team of outstanding mixologists helped to make it one rockin party. We secured the room for the private event on a Saturday night, brought in our own DJ (note that we could have had the house deejay included) and worked with Goldie to customize a fantastic event. We opted for a combination of passed hors d'oeuvres and a buffet which included a nice selection from both the Indian and pan-Asian cuisine of he adjacent Mehndi and Ming II restaurants. They premixed several hand crafted signature cocktails and offered a premium bar. We were also able to bring in our own dessert table and cake and the staff could not have been more helpful in assisting us with set up and execution from start to finish. The only downside was that they did permit a few stragglers in late night around midnight but it didn't really impact the event in a significant way since we had the space privatized for the majority of the evening. The price per head was not inexpensive but given the quality of food and drink and the top notch service, it was well worth the money. The space and event were such a hit that my guests are all inquiring now about hosting other events there! Such a great venue and perfect to accommodate a group that is 50 or more! Thank you to the fabulous bar tenders who were professional, yet fun and absolutely accommodating the entire night! Will definitely be back soon. As an aside, if you're inclined to eat at the Mehtani group restaurants which flank the bar area, I highly recommend. The food is flavorful and a nice blend of traditional and fusion cuisine! Is it expensive? A bit. But for the cocktails that I received, I was quite happy with the price. Morristown is known for having a lot of great - and busy - bars, so I like knowing that SM23 is there for when I want a little bit of a more relaxed experience. I have been a few times, mostly on dates with my boyfriend. We usually find a spot on one of the comfortable seats, sit back, and relax. The bartenders and servers are all very nice and generally speaking, our service has always been good. I've tried a few different drinks at SM23, such as the Tokyo and a Lavender Screwdriver. The Tokyo was strong (but it is made of quite a bit of alcohol) and I LOVED the Lavender Screwdriver. I'm a big fan of floral notes in my drinks and I got turned on to lavender when I first tried lavender kombucha. The lavender flavor in the screwdriver was very present but not overpowering. My boyfriend's go-to drink here is the Mango Mojito - crisp, fruity, and well-balanced. While it is sometimes more crowded than others, we enjoy heading to SM23 for dates because of the ambiance, the dimmer lights, the comfy setting, and the softer music (we have never been on a night where there was a DJ). I think that it is worth the money for the experience and will definitely be going back to try more of the delicious drinks in the future. read more

SM23 is a nice little cozy establishment. it's pretty cool that it is in between an Indian and Pan-Asian restaurant. The lights are very dim, but it is part of the ambiance. Any time I stop in I am always greeted with a smile, and my order is taken immediately. The 2 bartenders Aniket and Cruz are always engaging in conversation with all guests, which is very important because that makes guests (myself included) want to come back. The drinks are a bit pricey however, they are delicious and worth the cost. I'm not a clubber or bar hopper, so this cozy, not too loud upscale bar is perfect for me! Wow!! Went their for girls night out. I have heard of this place for the longest time. But never got a chance to go because i live to far from the bar. But it was totally worth it. Drinks were great. I ordred sm23 mule and wanted to also try another drink with cucumber. They both taste amazing. Food was amazing also. Thai crunch salad was out of this world. Dressing was just perfect not to sweet and not to overloaded on the salad. We also tried the chicken drumsticks and cauliflower, egg rolls. The only thing i wasnt crazy about was the bbq ribs.
