Fresh tasty good food. I remember when work took me to an unexpected stop at Napa and ate at this place. I don't remember what I ate but I do remember liking it. What do you know, I am at Napa again unexpectedly and was not particularly hungry but I could eat. And as luck would have it, I see this restaurant. I must say I feel blessed. I ordered the lamb gyro. Their pita is soft and thick. And the lamb had a crunch and was all I hope whenever I eat lamb down to the last bite. Sadly I forgot to take a pic even tho I told myself I would. It's not fast food so it took time for the food to be served. But you can't rush good food. We waited 45 minutes for 2 gyro sandwiches and a falafel sandwich. No one came over to explain the delay and when I went up to ask about the delay they were rude and unapologetic I could accept this lapse in service due to the current post Covid problems but the food was bland and tasteless. Well I am a local and when planning my daughters 30th birthday party she wanted a theme of Mama Mia... I looked not further that Small World for Baklava. It was amazing, it was fresh, and it melted in your mouth. When I went to pick it up I was greeted with smiles and incredible conversation about what other things I had planned for the party. I go to this place every time I come to Napa for work. Their gyros are the best I've ever had. The pita is fresh and airy. The produce is fresh and crisp. The meat is crisped up and perfectly seasoned. I could have these every day. I also love their hot sauce on top with a side of hummus. Lots of great things to say here! This place has been on my radar for the last couple months but I hadn't made it over until going on my lunch break today. Fridays are a day where I get to treat myself and enjoy my meal a little bit more during the work week, and Small World was a great choice to do so! The location is fairly small with a limited amount of seating, but we were able to sit down immediately. Even better, parking was available right out front. Score! There's an area to order to-go, if that's what you're doing. Otherwise, they'll come to you with menus and take care of you when you're ready. Drinks are self serve, which I think is neat. Choose your cup size, what you want to drink, and refill accordingly. It makes it easy for everyone involved. Someone will take your food order, when ready, and walk you through the rest. The menu is fairly diverse, with Gyros, to salads, to burgers, and a few options in between. I knew I wanted a salad for lunch, so I opted for the lamb and chicken salad. WORTH IT. The chicken was what I was originally going for; something healthy. I'm so glad I got lamb, too, though. It was well seasoned, with big portions, and just the right texture. I might just do lamb next time, it was that good. The chicken was great, too, and also plentiful. Nothing bad to say there. But THE LAMB. That's what stood out. There's a bar with pickled veggies for you to grab and add to your meal. Pickles, olives, onions, etc. A neat touch, and they're marinated with a nice level of spice. Many places in Napa can be pricey so it's great to find a local vegetarian-friendly spot for under $20 for 2 people for lunch. We got the spinach and feta empanada and the falafel platter to spilt. We loved how they had a pickled veggies bar you could load up on and eat with your meal (and inevitably snack on before as an appetizer). I also liked how you could server yourself drinks and they just charge you at the end. When the food came out everything look beautiful and tasted great! The spinach and feta empanada filling literally tasted like spinach dip. The falafel platter was tasty and filling to split with 2 people. The wait time for my meal was average, and my empanada came out piping hot. It was served with a dish of house tahini sauce, and a few pieces of tomato and cucumber. Had I a better idea of the size of my plate, I might have ordered 2 empanadas or added a side. The empanada was very good. The pastry was rich and crispy, and there was a mix of well-seasoned vegetables inside. I would probably come back for the empanada. After hanging at Rebel we walked across this street to this gem! My husband and I shared a falafel plate and were both pleasantly full and satisfied. On my way back from wine tasting in Napa , my wife and I stopped by this little gem. I had the gyro salad plate. My wife had the hamburger. The food took a bit of time, but it was worth it. The gyro plate came with romaine lettuce, fresh tomatoes , Persian cucumbers, topped with feta cheese, puffy pita bread, and a side of Tzaziki sauce.The meat on top was generous and well seasoned. Napa is well known for not being very Vegan-friendly. Thankfully Small World is there to fill the void in downtown Napa when that hunger craving kicks in. We usually get either the pita sandwich or falafel plate. The plate is more expensive but you get more food and can top it with as many toppings from the bar. Normally... I love Middle Eastern/Greek so I convinced my friends to come with me to this place. We usually eat at more bourgeois places when we are in Napa but they came along with open minds. It is more like a deli/cafe. Staff seems a bit stressed or maybe just impatient. After ordering we sat down and the old decor definitely made the "middle Eastern" part feel authentic...maybe too authentic. The wait was too long and my guests were obviously peeved when our food did finally arrive on paper plates with plastic cutlery. Total let down. I was quite embarrassed. I will say that the presentation of the food although simple was nice; the taste however was barely mediocre. With COVID-19, I have been taking advantage of Small World's take out option as a long time fan of thier falafel salad but waited until I tried all the other local middle eastern eateries. They still make one of if not the best Falafel salads, it's all fresh, the portion is generous and well packaged and everyone is following the mask and gloves rules! This has always been a clean little cafe with a huge lunch crowd, filling up the little cafe tables outside and as a family owned business where all the family works here, you sense rh care about customer service and satisfaction. They have not failed to deliver delicious meals, that remain warm and ready to eat and that were ready when they said it would be, with a sincere smile and appreciation of their loyal and new customers.
