We got a scrumptious Gambino's cream cheese king cake. None of it went to waste. The fact that they go to New Orleans to be able to offer authentic quality king cakes is an outstanding service. The ambiance was warm and welcoming. We highly recommend Smallcakes. read more

Was in town and saw these next door to a Starbucks. It's been a while since I've had a cupcake, so why not. The store was cute and the staff was friendly. There were many cupcakes to choose from, Ice cream, frozen cakes and other items for sale. Looks like a great place to stop for any occasion. I purchased 4 cupcakes and paid $25. While pricey, I was hoping the taste made up for it. 3 of the 4 cupcakes were great. Not too sweet, great texture and the icing was heaven. The fourth was dense and just blah. Recently moved to Pensacola and for me, having a place to buy sweets is crucial so I was very happy to see that this spot is located very close to my apartment. Each visit I am greeted by friendly staff that are always inviting and offer to help with my choice of dessert. I have tried their homemade ice cream, their lemon bars, cookies, and of course their cupcakes. Out of everything my favorite has been the lemon bars. Their cupcakes (to me) were on the dry side but the flavors were good. Cookies and ice cream were okay also. It is a nice shop that has a little bit of everything to encourage more than one visit. read more

My friend graduated nursing school on Sunday. I preordered the cake. I was scheduled to get on Saturday. I got distracted and forgot to get the cake. These wonderful people at Smallcakes, came after church on a Sunday and opened the store just so I could get this cake! Absolutely wonderful! The cake was beautiful and stunning. We stopped in for our first try of king cake. It was nice they sold single slices. The other cupcakes were very appealing, so we had to sample more than cake! The lemon cupcakes were the best. The German chocolate was very rich. I really like the idea of just buying a cupcake over an entire cake. read more

First time visiting this cupcake truck, as it happened to be one of the food trucks at the Equestrian Center today. Boy, was I giddy! Clockwise: Chocoholic (chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream), Birthday Cake (vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream and sprinkles), Wedding Cake (almond cake with vanilla buttercream), and the Dunkaroo (funfetti cake with funfetti buttercream). Small cake, but big bite. This place does a great job. Their frosting is rich and sweet. And most importantly the cake itself was dense and moist. Picking up my little plate, it was starting to bend due to the hefty cupcake. I got the carrot cake cupcake and it was tasty. No raisins ftw! Overall the product was good, maybe missing a little extra umph that you see in more gingery carrot cake. I definitely recommend this place for a dessert stop. read more

We have had Smallcakes numerous times with no issues. The cupcakes are always delicious! However, we had a negative visit this time. Today, we were not greeted by anyone. The man at the counter was on his personal phone and did not acknowledge our presence. He did not say "be with you shortly" or "we are only taking cash". We waited in the lobby for approx. 10 minutes before walking out, without buying anything. This location lost revenue today. read more

I was there today to purchase cupcakes and the person behind the counter was wiping her nose and mouth with her hands and fumbling with her hair. She was waiting on customers and did not wash her hands or put on gloves. When it was my turn I asked her if she wore gloves and she put some on. I paid for my cupcakes by giving her the money in her hand. When she returned my change she laid it on the counter. I asked for a receipt and she laid it on the counter as well. I knew what that meant. So, no I would not recommend this company based on the clerk behavior. Just lost a loyal customer! read more

Love this chain. Recently relocated to pensacola and was glad to see one here. Clean and cute decor inside. Cupcakes on display. The also have a chart that shows the cupcakes for the week. You can also request a cupcake by calling in the request a day before. They do offer military disount. You can get enough cupcakes for parties too. I love these cupcakes, moist inside and tasty icing, nothing like store bought cupcakes at all. Definitely worth the money. read more

After being away for six months because of a bad experience with Small Cakes, I decided to give them another try. The cupcake taste like it was Two days old, it was DRY, OVER BAKED, with no taste. It taste like I was eating CORNBREAD with icing. This place was THE BEST cupcake bakery in town, now it's TRASH. I WILL NEVER SPEND ANOTHER DIME AT SMALLCAKES. read more

Cupcakes are usually okay.. a little dry. However, don't EVER get the "cannolis" it's literally a shell filled with ICING. It was the most disgusting thing I've ever had. I even specifically asked them if they had cannoli's with CANNOLI FILLING! And although the woman was kind she had the audacity to hand me that overpriced monstrosity. read more

I've been here 4 or 5 times now and make a point to stop in every time we are in Pensacola. The cupcakes are always fantastic. I've tried a variety of the flavors and every single one has been delicious. The cupcakes are also massive in the best way. The lemon cupcake with lemon curd in the center is definitely one of my favorites but I have yet to have one that wasn't good! The staff has been consistently kind, helpful, and patient with me as I always spend 10 min trying to decide. I definitely recommend stopping in to try out one of the many unique and delicious flavors! read more

This place was so amazing! I think the most memorable food eatery would have to be these cupcakes! These are fine start quality gourment cupcakes and I wish I had found this place sooner! Q___Q . The shop is super cute and fun when you walk in. We dealt with some pretty gnarly employees who were friendly! They have a great variety to select from and it can be tough to try new flavors when you know the previous one was just amazing! Anyways, the cupcakes are really rich in flavor and the bread was super moist. It was breaking apart, but typically the most moist ones do. I rather have it breaking apart than to taste ones that are breaking your teeth apart! I surprised my husband with a cupcake for lunch and he literally swallowed it whole! This place was so good! I really do hope that when we return to the base that this location is still up! read more

Stopped in today to see if there was anything I hadn't tried before. I picked up the Stout cupcake with Guinness in it and the Millionaire cupcake that features coconut, pineapple, cream cheese, pecans and chocolate chips. The Millionaire lives up to its name and is very rich. The Stout was a nicely balanced chocolate taste that was perfect. Also picked up a pup cake for my two small dogs to split. How do I describe the deliciousness that is the Mudslide cupcake? Moist dark chocolate, chocolate chip goodness, hints of coffee in that oh so sumptuous icing! I really wanted to like this place, but the cupcakes were not good. The hot cocoa cupcake tasted like it was from a mix. I'm not exactly sure what the frosting was made of, because it had no flavor at all and had a peculiar mouth feel to it. The frosting on the wedding cake, birthday cake and the vanilla left a horrible after taste. The cake itself was dry. My husband and both my kids agreed and the cupcakes were left unfinished, which is unheard of in my house. Very disappointed because we love cupcakes. read more

Got a creme filled pull pastry thing. That was nice. Flakes for days. This was no rough puff. For the chocolate croissant, also known as a pain au chocolat. Again, very flakey, very buttery, the perfect touch of sweet chocolate. And a savory, massive scone. Bacon and chives, I think. Also very good. Crumbly. Overall, I was very surprised. There certainly wasn't anywhere like this in Pensacola when I lived here. This place is a quality bakery that could easily be found in a medium-sized city. I was in Pensacola, visiting family.....As a business owner myself, selling "Sweets", I like to try other establishments. All I can say is"WOW". I have never had a cupcake that was as moist and delicious as this. The young man who greeted me, was awesome. He was ready to give samples of their new ice cream and explaining the flavors of the cupcakes. I will be going back to get more for my trip home..back to Georgia....
