I've had several gluten free flavors here and they've always been great. However, I wanted to take a minute to leave a review for the gf red velvet with cream cheese icing. It's hard to get a good red velvet cake/cupcake. They nailed it. You can truly taste that cocoa flavor come through and it was super moist! The cream cheese icing was on point! We love small cakes, but the past few times at this location the cake part of the cupcakes has been very dry. Today we tried the peanut butter cup and the icing tasted like watered down, like a soggy peanut with powdered sugar, and I am not being over dramatic. I love peanut butter and there was not even a hint. Anyway, another thing was when we were checking out, the young man set our cupcakes on the counter by the register to check them out. I couldn't believe my eyes. That's not very sanitary. Every other time we have gone the cupcakes were put into the box as we picked them out. He was really nice and I didn't want to be a pain, but after I thought about it, I should have said something because I'm sure all sorts of things are placed on that counter and even though there is a wrapper on the bottom of the cake, it's still really gross because I'm sure money gets placed there all the time and we all know how gross money is. If the person reviewing for a food grade was there, that would have definitely made a check for points towards a low score. Also, I noticed that they don't have anywhere to wash their hands between customers and they go back and forth touching peoples cards, cash and the cupcakes. Well, at least my immune system is getting stronger... that's if I don't get some type of food poisoning. read more

The cupcakes are amazing, the size of them are huge, and the tops of icing aren't skimped on! Love to stop by when I'm in the area. They go a little bonkers on their IG posts, meaning A LOT in one day, but the folks are super nice and always helpful when you walk in. read more

I got the cupcake smash. I got lemon cupcake, salted caramel ice cream, and blueberry ice cream. They were yummy. All the ice cream is home made and you can definitely tell the difference. Such great treats on my taste buds! I didn't even care about the calories. I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5 for the simple fact that they don't allow you to tip using your card. I was traveling for work and don't carry cash. The gentleman who helped me today was very personable, and just provided excellent service. I felt so bad that I couldn't tip him. I hope they allow tips on cards in the future. But the rest of you, please go with cash so you can at least give them a tip. read more

Came here today while studying at Starbucks to try it out. Ordered the cookies and cream cupcake and loved it. It wasn't too sweet, and the bread was moist. The dude at the register was chill and assisted me in choosing a flavor. I love the Disney music playing in the background. The cupcake also came in a nice box, perfect for giving it as a gift. I have mixed feelings about Small Cakes. While on travel I always hit a cupcake shop. The cake part of every cupcake we tried was really really fantastic. The chocolate cake was okay but the Kentucky Bourbon was UH-MAZING. Even the Vanilla was very good (which is actually very difficult to do). The icing though, yikes. Inedible. My mind is a little boggled here b/c typically it's the other way around, frosting / icing isn't difficult to make, it's the cake that's the most difficult part. Worth a try and decide for yourself. Seen great review about the place and decided to try it out. Looking at the menu, it sounded basic with just vanilla and chocolate mix with like butter cream frosting. Nothing to unique with favors. I got the "golden Oreo" cupcake, that was vanilla cake with cookies and cream frosting. Cupcake just tasted like something you can grab from Walmart or the .98 cent cake batter and bake it yourself m. Wasn't impress. read more

Saw this place by chance, and what a great little place it is! Thank you to my server Lance, you were just as good as the cupcakes! Smallcakes is a good size inside, so when you buy your treats you can actually sit inside and enjoy the with a coffee or with some of the other drinks they serve. They have weekly specials, a loyalty card, clean inside, good parking outside,this place is a little gem. Lance was so welcoming, friendly, informative, gave great advice for what to try first, and really seemed to love helping the customers get what they were looking for. For take outs you get different sized boxes depending on your needs so the cupcakes arrive at their destination still looking as beautiful as they did in the store. When I was there a couple of customers turned up looking for batches to take to weekend parties they were going to, so the special price they have for buying batches of 6 or more was well worth it. They have special on different days, have over 200 favors, which they rotate over the months, and even have gluten free options. Well done to the baker - melt in the mouth cupcakes. By far the very best cupcakes I have ever eaten. I ordered 6 dozen cupcakes and one small cake for my wedding and everyone could not stop talking about them. Four days after the wedding the left over cakes were still just as moist and delicious as the day we bought them. Smallcakes has earned all future business of my family and friends!!! I was in Pensacola, visiting family.....As a business owner myself, selling "Sweets", I like to try other establishments. All I can say is"WOW". I have never had a cupcake that was as moist and delicious as this. The young man who greeted me, was awesome. He was ready to give samples of their new ice cream and explaining the flavors of the cupcakes. I will be going back to get more for my trip home..back to Georgia....
