I had (past tense) a situation with my Smartaira account. I had this all set up, ready to go, Autopay activated, etc., etc. I am going to accelerate the story at this point. My credit card supporting Autopay got "hacked". I was in a huge hurry yesterday when initiating/editing changes to give to Smartaira, picked up the phone, dialed a number & got CJ, call #172788. He was terrific!!! He saved me a lot of time & aggravation (and money- -he got fees waived). CJ was lucid, intelligent as hell, highly professional- - -a real delight!!! And, perhaps his greatest asset: he wasn't a BUREAUCRAT sitting in front of a screen with his canned, rehearsed, polished, script sitting three feet from his nose!!!! God, I really liked CJ!!! DO NOT DO IT. Worst cable TV connection ever, especially during the most popular times like Superbowl Sunday. Unfortunately I use Smartaira's cable service since my monthly condo HOA fees already include this charge due to the condo signing a multi-year cable TV and wifi contract with them for the entire property. Since I absolutely cannot take a chance on wifi being out, I actually pay separately for my own Frontier communications wifi due to multiple residents here having wifi issues with Smartaira, so I simply cannot risk bad wifi since I work remotely. Smartaira may entice you due to pricing, but don't be fooled, there are constant interruptions and error codes saying no satellite signal when watching cable tv. And I don't even bother calling to have a technician come out because of course the cable TV starts working again once they can actually get out here to take a look at it. I had hoped they would be better than Consolidated Smart Systems which we had here previously but nope, still just as bad as before. read more

Terrible customer service. They promote 24/7 technical support but just pass you around from one person to another with no resolution. When asking to escalate or speak to someone else they tell you no one is available. They tell us that someone will reach out to schedule an installation but no one ever reaches out, so you have to call back and do the same process repeatedly. It's 2025 and their internet just goes down randomly. It went down for days without explanation a couple of months ago. Once again it is out all over my very large building. It says there are no outages. Customer service left me on hold for a half an hour and so I let them have the option of calling me back I've now been waiting for an hour it's 4:25 in the afternoon and I'm pretty certain that it's not coming back tonight. absolutely horrendous. these people have a monopoly on every apartment complex around my area! I cannot upgrade my service with them, they are horrible when it comes to connectivity and service, their customer support is ATROCIOUS! This is the third time in 1 year my apartment has gone without internet for 2 or more DAYS. Right now I'm going on a WEEK without service. You can call customer support 24/7 but can they actually do anything? no. they will make a request to "Dispatch" to send a technician out to you. "Dispatch" will then contact the technicians for a "Request" to schedule you. you have to sit there and WAIT for whenever a technician will send you an email to schedule your appointment. I've been waiting for 4 days on a technician just to RESPOND!!!!! Is this a joke? not to mention they will throttle your service if your streaming games, watching "adult content", or streaming a movie. If you have a VPN they will throttle your network to a crawl. this is insane! the best part is that I cannot go with another provider. I HAVE to use this dogshite company. Dont bother with smartaira. I had to have Experian, Transunion and Equifax take off their fake modem charge. And they did. Firstly, the installer guy who took my modem did not log that in so they tried to charge me $180 for it. Its a cheap plastic crap modem that might be actually worth $30. This is our complex's only option for an internet provider, and we couldn't opt-out of their cable package originally. The internet speeds are abysmal when they aren't completely crashed. If you're interested in gaming or streaming shows consistently, good luck. My complex is currently on the 7th hour of a "blackout" or "system error" that is only affecting our complex and not the surrounding areas. There's been one follow up email to notify us that they've "identified" the issue with no timeframe on when it will be back up. I work from home a majority of the time, so I'm forced to either work from my phone or go into the office. The whole point is to not have to commute. Unfortunately, there's nothing I can do because of my complex's contract with Smartaira and I feel stuck with a company that provides terrible internet and terrible customer service. The prices are not horrible, but you truly get what you pay for: slow speeds, connection issues, consistent downtime, and major crashes that make the service completely useless. Do they attempt to adjust billing for outages? Absolutely not. I guess you get less than what you pay for. If you're a complex looking for a cheap solution to internet that could be profitable, just know that you will receive an influx of calls from unhappy residents and downtime in your own office. Had paperwork issue with a credit card expiring/cancelled. Email on record was wrong. No notice and the service was disconnected. That I can understand but while most appliances and systems nowadays are connected through WiFi services, they don't have a way to send a dispatch to turn on the service for over a week. Yes. If there is an error, and your service is turned off, you won't have internet for a week. In the initial sign up pamphlet and online marketing it says there is no need to wait for a technician and the service can be activated at anytime. Which is clearly a lie. They don't even have an emergency service on the weekends. Don't sign up for this medieval service. Continued issues since review in December. Every month on my bill date my internet goes out. Some months I am lucky and I can login online to pay, but most months the platform tells me my email address isn't associated with an account. The last few months of this I've taken the opportunity while on the phone with customer service to ensure autopay is on. The last the double checked and ensured me I wouldn't have issue again. Come this past Friday, internet went out and sure enough it was my bill date. Meh. Called in, first rep was confused and said no payment was due. Promised I'd hear back from billing in 15 mins. My last apartment's free internet gave me a respectable 12 Megabytes per second of download speed. Not anything too crazy but aside from mediocre download speeds, I never had any problems with it. My new apartment that uses Smartaira gives me an embarrassing 15 Megabits per second. That's almost 2 whole Megabytes per second (1.8). It takes a disgusting amount of time to download anything over 1GB. It's 2023; it shouldn't take nearly 10 minutes to download 1GB. Smartaira's most expensive package at 80 Megabits per second at $40 a month is still a good 2 Megabytes slower than my last apartment's free WiFi. I'd honestly be better off connecting all my devices to my phone hotspot and paying for an unlimited plan. It would be cheaper and I'd have blazing fast 5G speeds. I hope you don't plan on downloading anything while streaming because not only will your download take an eternity at almost 2MB per second, your video quality on videos you're streaming will tank to 144p and still buffer. I've also never had an ISP go under maintenance as often as Smartaira does. So there's that, too. read more

Smartira had alot of issues. I was unsatisfied with the service, unfortunately it was the only internet my apartment wanted to offer, because they get paid a kick back. This issue is about ending my service. 1 they will not prorate you. They charge you for a full month. 2 they try to auto bill you for unretuened equipment. They generated an invoice the day I had service set.to cancle. Even before it was due Now check this out. I wanted to cancle my service as Feb 21. I was moving. They said I would have 10 days to return. The equipment. On the 21st I had an invoice generated for 160. For missing equipment. (Thought I had 10 days) Let's make matters worse. They refuse to prorate me. My bill for internet service is paid till March 2nd. They are giving me 1 day to return the equipment. Or charge me 160$ Why not give me my 10 days from the end of my bill. Use anything but this company!!! I have had horrible Internet for months. Cannot watch more than 60 seconds of TV at a time before getting kicked off Internet. They have done nothing to help me. Excuse after excuse. They even told me I needed to buy a new fire stick and when I did and it didn't do anything they told me I must have gotten a faulty fire stick. They've actually made the service worse since I've called. I have wasted hours and hours of my time while they have me trouble shoot and basically try to do their job for them. nobody can get my internet to work. very pleasant on phone tier 1. when they try to get a tech to help me nobody answers. If they do they have to speak through the customer service agent. They say they are going to call me but never do. smartaira, where do I even begin. I've been dealing with constant service issues especially with their hardware for the entire time i've had them, including poor service, and constant disconnects. i explained to them the setup of my equipment which to be fair, is a lot and was told "have you considered that's too many devices" I eventually got so fed up that I bought my own router to replace theirs and my devices could finally get connected and not constantly disconnect but now it's started to have issues again. Mysteriously, every device gets good wired speeds EXCEPT the router. They refuse to offer any assistance just telling me constantly that it's unsupported at my property. the only thing they ever did to help get my devices connected was tell me to re-add them in the portal and disconnect and reconnect. Nothing to help with the low speeds in my kitchen or living room. I had to sit on the phone with them for hours just to even get the ethernet jack in my living room connected. WORST wifi experience EVER. I call for installation, they promise to call back later that day... NOTHING. Had to call again next day, same stuff, NOTHING. Third time is a charm. Installation comes, I pay additional for high speed, I cannot have zoom sessions without it being choppy. I don't know how many calls, emails, and one technician visit, wifi gets slower and slower every time (last time after tech visit, I ran speed test and see 18.5MBPs). Every email I send, it takes days (last email was sent 8 days ago, no response yet and zero resolution). I just ended a 38 minute call, where it seems that they had zero records of my history, and was going to connect me to sales?? I was told a few times to run a hard line... why am I paying extra for high speed wifi if I need to plug a hard line? This is the only thing I can do to effectively work at my home. I moved in 2 1/2 month ago..... My apartment complex will not allow me to use another provider, when my lease is up, I will tell them that I am not renewing specifically b/c of the wifi speed. My internet has been down since 8 PM on May 16th, 2024, despite the rest of the complex having service. Previous outages include one day on February 2nd and two days on March 1st. I am not typically one to leave reviews, let alone negative ones, but this is a complete joke. My ethernet just randomly stopped working one day, and it was obviously not linked to my computer. It's an issue with Smartaira themselves. I have been ignored, put off, and straight up lied to. I contacted them about a week ago and got completely ghosted for a day when I was supposed to be transferred to a tier 2 team.
