Second time ever trying SmashBurger - it looked empty on the inside and we were in a hurry so we went through the drive thru. Double cheeseburger was juicy, hot and fresh with perfectly melted cheese. The fries were better than expected but the burger is really what set them apart. My wife and I walked into the Riverdale Smashburger. No other customers in the place. Nobody at drive through. The self order kiosk not working. I counted three workers behind the counter. Okay.... Let me state that I'm not one to give a review like this, but after 4 consecutive missed shots - I needed to vent. I'll give the bad, then I will finish on a positive-esque note... Three times before today I have ordered a meal for me and the Mrs. Side orders had been wrong each time. Being a trusting patron and expecting accuracy in my order, I to my fault I expect my order will be correct. Once, twice, third times charm didn't hold. So ordered again (at the counter - same as previous 3) order delivered, walked to car, remembered previous faux pas and checked bag... Large Smash Tots ordered, bag contains Smash fries... I know, shouldn't be THAT big a deal, but c'mon 4 TIMES running.... I go inside, staff had erroneously entered smash fries-I had stated twice when ordering SMASH TOTS... and a large order to boot. Again, this is not the end of the world. Staff takes the bag, places Tots into bag (after having to make some) and I am provided the bag and it contains TOTs, and upon arriving home, they are not "Smash" tots, just plain tots. So I got a twofer in one visit. And if it was a large container, the tots large is skimpy pathetic the Large Smash fries looked like a large so guess I was downsized as well... If a small tots had been what I had ordered, I would have likely given 3 stars for this review, but the track record for ordering snafu's was too much, with tip. As promised, I will end on a positive note. I tipped 15% on my order as like an investment past performance does not equate to future results (wrong again).... Another positive is that the burgers were very good and met my expectations, I really do like the burgers. So to summarize, 2 burgers, 2 shakes, 1 tots + tip $44.00 Cannot guarantee I will EVER return, the burgers are good, but I expect what I order, not like the business was loud or busy. Maybe read back your orders, there's a novel idea.... Or maybe I need to do some mumble-rap instead of trying to order food...... read more

Food is ok. But the floor! The floor appears to have been moped with grease from the kitchen. Very, very slippery and dangerous. They really need to steam clean that floor and get a new mop! The condiment bottles on the table were in need of cleaning as well. read more

A friend and I decided to try Smashburger because neither of us had ever been there. I was nervous because of the many poor reviews for this location. They had a great special going on - a triple double pub burger (if I'm remembering the name correctly). It was two patties with cheese and fried onions and mustard on a pretzel bun, for $4. I also ordered their Smashfries - fries with olive oil and herb seasoning, and a salted caramel malt. When my friend and I sat down to wait for our order, we noticed a rancid odor. One of my superhero skills is being able to identify the odor of a dead mouse. I've done this repeatedly throughout my life - identifying the odor in various places where I've never been before. The odor was the odor of a dead mouse. When the server brought our malts, I notified her to let the manager know that there was a dead mouse in their air exchange/vent system. She gave me a look that said, "How could you possibly know that?" When the food arrived, it looked good. The burger was good, but small. Their patty size is on the small side. Definitely more bun than burger. It had good flavor. The fries were okay. I wouldn't spend the extra money for the Smashfries. There wasn't that much additional flavor. The malt was a bit on the runny side, but tasted excellent. All in all, Smashburger was okay. However, with all the other hamburger choices, this would probably not be on the top of my list. Slowest drive thru ever! Stopped in here for the first time with my kids today. We ordered two kids meals and a Truffle Single. Took 25 minutes to get our food and it wasn't even warm. After avoiding this place for the past few years, I was a victim of marketing when I received an email with a 2 for 1 special on fish sandwiches during lent. Ordered in advance and arrived a couple minutes late. Food wasn't ready so I asked if they'd bring it out to the car to reduce my COVID risk. Was told they were too busy to do this and I'd have to wait in the delivery service waiting area. Food finally came out and I was surprised to see that despite them asking the names for each person to go with individual sandwiches, they didn't bother to mark them. Had to open each one to try and figure out the owner. The worst part was the quality of the fish. A small, thin triangular piece of very overcooked fish. The burgers are gone after two and half bites, and the fries come in two distinct flavors: "boring" or "future diarrhea." For the love of God, DO NOT EAT THE SMASH FRIES. Sadly, all the other reviews about "service" at this location are correct. Best burgers around, but the worst service (bar none) around. Past three visits have been as follows: 1. Out of hamburger... at SmashBURGER. 2. Was told there would be a 25 minute wait in the drive-thru for 4 cheeseburgers. 3. Another simple order took about 30 minutes after ordering in the restaurant. We were at Smashburgers in Coon Rapids on Friday November 2, 2018. I ordered a Twin Cities burger no swiss cheese, it came with swiss cheese. I asked the girl where my sauce was for my haystack onions, she said it doesn't come with sauce. The last item was a girl was filling the ice bucket and she was standing on the counter with her greasy dirty shoes. We thought he was just upset it wasn't Wendy's until we tasted our own orders, both the bbq bacon cheeseburger. The burgers were overcooked to the point of being completely dry and they even tasted burned. The fried onions tasted only of breading/batter and were cooked so hard they were dark brown and tasted burned, too. Between the terrible food and the always-high prices that's the last time we'll waste our money there. EDIT: I changed my review to two stars from one because a regional manager spoke with me and asked about my experience. I don't understand how this chain as well as this location stays in business. I tried their turkey burger which was beyond bland and dry. After a few bites I threw it away. The fries are greasy and again very bland. The only thing I liked about my meal was the soft drink. The employees even looked embarrassed to be serving such horrible food to the public. Went in not knowing they closed at 8. Walked up at 7:58 and asked if we could still order or if they were closed. We got very mixed reviews. 1 person said yes for sure, but once we asked the employees at the counter they said they were closing in seconds.
