I was really optimistic about smash burger after hearing from other people, but overall I was a little disappointed. Their selection of burgers was different from the typical fast food places, but there was no real wow factor. The descriptions of the burgers were much better than the reality of the food itself. The burgers were good, but nothing special. The service design was a little different than fast food places, which involved grabbing a menu in line before proceeding to the order counter. After placing the order you received a number which you brought to the table and the food was delivered. It was a nice way to minimize having to wait at the counter, but one of the two counter people was less than efficient, having to spend half her time helping put the orders together. The selection of soft drinks was about average and it was nice to have the option of shakes for the kids. The shakes were pretty good. Ok, when i had my first experience with Smashburger 6 months ago, I received my order and it was wrong. Nothing that I ordered on my "custom" burger was right, I never received my milkshake and the customer service was terrible. I vowed to never go back again. Well, tonight I let me fiancé talk me back into trying it one more time. She picked the food up on her way home from work and they only put 1 sandwich in the bag, forgot a milkshake and treated my fiancé like garbage. She returned to the store, and they gave her the food that we were missing. She comes home and we both take a bite of our burgers and the meat is completely raw, inedible. Went to the glassboro nj smashburger to pick up a delivery order at 8pm. The door was locked. The associates are staring at me for 30 seconds. I motion what's wrong? They turned around and ignored me. I walk around to try the front door. Then an associate comes from the back of the restaurant sprinting toward the front door as to lock it before I got in. Well I walked in before he did and he turned around and let out a loud disappointed sigh then sprinted back giggling. I asked him what was going on? He replied "we're closed". But it was 8pm. Confused I repeated "your closed?" He then changed it to "we're closing in an hour". I asked him why are the doors locked? He turned his back on me laughing profanities. Walked away with another assoc. Who threw her hands up and said "i don't what the f*** is going on". And he loudly said "I don't want to fucking work!" They went behind the kitchen door and loudly starting yelling and cursing about the situation and me. They came out laughing at me. And made me feel really uncomfortable. Mine came with a lot of "stuff" on it which we told the person taking our order not to put on it. What the heck was that piece of "lettuce?, couldn't see the rest of the burger because of it's size! I've tried almost everything on the menu and I have yet to be disappointed. The employees are always smiling and happy to help you. Favorite sandwich is the avocado club with grilled chicken. Being stationed in Colorado for 3 years I became quite familiar with Smashburger since that's where they originated. I love their burgers and sweet potato fries. They are a upscale burger joint that uses fresh ingredients not frozen processed meat so the cost is somewhat higher than typical fast food. They give you practically every option there is as far as condiments, cheeses, etc. I live in Delaware and drove 45 minutes to eat at this location. It did not disappoint. I have eaten here numerous times. Burgers are always juicy and tasty. Definitely a step up from regular fast food joints. My only complaint is on numerous occasions when I have dined in, the waitresses will constantly try to clear our plates and trays before we are done. Today my husband and I went for lunch an the waitress true to take his plate away as he was dipping his fried onions into ketchup. I have read many of the reviews here and most must be from competitors trolls. Smashburger (in Glassboro NJ) is my favorite of all time burger joints, and I've been to all of them. The hamburgers and turkey burgers are fantastic and are a good size for the money. I am sure some will need to get double burgers, but this will fill the bill (pun). So far I've been there at all times of day, even when they first open at 10am and thrilled with the service and quality. The management is fantastic and really seems to care about you and your comments. Try it and you too will love it. read more

I went to Smash Burger a few months ago since I've never been there before. The first thing I didn't like was that you had to go in the front entrance to go in line to order or else you asking everyone to move out of your way to get to the back of the line. The second thing that was bad was the price. It cost over $30 for 3 hamburgers, 2 fries, and 3 drinks. You can go out to a nice restaurant for dinner and get better prices and food. The last problem was the food. I have to say I did enjoy the hamburger but it was full of grease. I had a stomach ache for about 2-3 days. And their shakes are amazing as well (Go Oreo if can't decide). The food is good but the service is bad and they don't seem to care that the service is bad. My order had mayonnaise when I asked for no mayo. They offered to bring out a new bun top, not make a whole new sandwich, but just the top of the bun, when there was mayo all over everything. Brand new location for this fast growing franchise. The burgers and fries were delicious. Chicken sandwiches and salads looked good too. Many great options to choose from. I ordered a create your own burger and it was prepared perfectly. The Smashfries with rosemary, olive oil & garlic were the tastiest I've ever had at this type of restaurant. We were also given a sample size of their milkshakes...mmmm...delicious! How can you not like a Hagen Dazs ice cream milkshake?? I'm looking forward to trying more items. Good luck! read more

First off, I never write these reviews, but I was so surprised with the quality of the Smash Burger experience I had to make this review. I was invited to a special opening of SMASH BURGER on 2/5/13. I did not know what to expect, and when I arrived at the new Smash Burger resturant I was blown away at the amount of people in the restaurant. I was worried that the crowd would detract from the experience and the quality of the food... Boy was I wrong. the people running this place know what they are doing! I brought my 2 young sons and they loved every second of it as well! It was an exciting event with lots of great food! I ordered the BBQ Berger that had Bacon, Onion strings, Cheese and an amazing BBQ sauce. The burger was cooked to perfection and it just tasted fresh. It was the best burger I had had in quite a while. I also had a side of the sweet potato fries which were hot, crisp with the perfect amount of salt. Highly recommend these sweet potato fries!!! My wife had the Avocado club grilled chicken sandwich. I had a bite and I was amazed again at the freshness. The Avocado slices were thick and fresh. My wife simply loved the sandwich, and could not stop talking about how good it was. We ordered chicken strips and cheese fries for my young boys and they loved every last bite, which does not happen often in our house! I have been to other high end burger places in the area, and I can say that Smash Burger blows them away. Nowadays it seems like a new burger place is opening every other day. I've tried 5 Guys, Zinburger, Elevation Burger, Burger Joint and Burger 21 and SMASHBURGER has easily become my favorite of them all. Both the burgers and chicken are delicious. I love the sweet potato fries, which says a lot since I don't even like sweet potatoes. I love the haystack onions and their milkshakes are so good! I have been here twice now. The first time I had a chicken sandwich an the second time I had the Black Bean Vegetarian sandwich. I was pleased with both. Both had good flavor and well prepares. I also had the fries both sweet potato and smash fries and again both were good. Beyond the food I was disappointed in cleanliness of the restaurant. I was there for approximately an hour and they were busy but not full. AS people finishes and left it took a long time to clean tables and make room for new customers. I watched workers just walk by dirty tables and not clean them. No one ever took a broom and cleaned the floor which had fries and crumbs on it. When someone did clean the tables they used the same rag they used on every other table and just pushed all the crumbs and or fries onto the uncleaned floor. Also I told the manger the coke we running out 15 minutes before I left and as of the time I left no one replaced it. This could be a better experience. They have plenty of workers but it seems no one is taking the incentive to do things right. I give it 3 stars because the food is good but they lose points for cleanliness. read more

As a vegetarian, it can be frustrating to hear about a great burger place that doesn't have any veggie burger. So, when Smashburger first opened, I was wary. Thankfully, they have some of the most delicious veggie burgers around. They serve black bean burgers that are fresh-made. They have a wide-array of toppings to choose from. Their fries could be better but they're not bad. Of course, like most burgers, they're loaded in calories. My typical meal there is over a thousand calories, so it's more of an occasional treat. They are expensive, but the receipts have surveys which give your free fries for the next visit so that's about $2 off the bill each time as long as you remember to do the survey. The staff is very friendly and, if you ask, they'll give you a cup for water, cutting down the price even more. If you'e not on a diet or just want a treat, I'd definitely stop by. read more

Their burgers are pretty good but they are a bit greasy. The smash fries are interesting they're good but I wouldn't want them all the time. They're just a frozen shoestring fries with a good flavor. Their milkshakes are fabulous probably the best thing there. However you really can't enjoy anything there since you have to bundle up like you live in Alaska in the middle of the winter. It is always freezing in there no matter what the season. I suggest taking it to go if you really would like to enjoy your food without shivering. read more

First experience last week was very good; burgers, fries and shake all very good. Decided to go again tonight and got annoyed at the workers. My order was $16.01 and I told the girl I did not want a pocket full of change, she insisted that I give her the penny or she would give me .99 in change. She watches me ask 3 people in line behind me who ironically did not have a penny either, and eventually had me go to my car to get a nickel . . small point, but just stupid customer service. Then I watch the new kid splash my milk shake all over the counter and pour the rest into my cup. I tell the guy who's handing me the shake what he did, then he chuckles and tells me that "it looks ok". Arguing over a penny and receiving a slightly less than full shake may seem small, but it just doesn't give a customer the impression that they give a darn if you come back. The owner better figure out that customer service is often more important than the quality of the food. Treat customers right and they will spend a little more for quality food. read more

Visited Smashburger right when it opened and the place was jumping! I was able to order my food quickly and easily which I attribute to the menu being easy to read and straight forward. My friend and I ordered the classic smashburger and the crispy chicken club with a side of smashfries, and a Haggen daz shake... I know, we were really going for it since it was our first time here and we'd heard really good things about it! I like the fact that their model is "fast-casual" so you order, get a number, then take a seat. In a few minutes our food was delivered to us by a friendly staff member who explained what everything was. I have to say everything was really tasty but the crispy chicken sandwich was out of this world. Perfect blend of seasoning and just the right amount of crunch. Obviously, the Haggen daz shake was to-die-for and we left feeling happy and satisfied. Will definitely be back - best place in the area for this type of fare. read more

Ironically, I am a vegetarian who is writing a review about a burger joint- but I was thrilled to create my own veggie burger with as many toppings as I wanted (I went with fresh cucumbers, spinach, lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions and guac). The sweet potato smash fries were also to die for. The rosemary adds the perfect fresh flavor. All of the staff were friendly and helpful and the location was clean.
