We ordered a black bean burger and they gave me a black bean patty and some other patty which I never ordered and the burger smelled like fish and they don't serve fish there and I couldn't eat it. I tried to call them and they never picked up the phone. This is usually our go to Smash Burger since we live right down the street from here so we eat at this location all the time and this is my first review. I can't give it the 5 stars that it use to be so I'm assuming they've changed cooks or something. The quality of my mushroom burger has started to decline and is on life support. The meat patty has been really dry and this time it was way over seasoned and the Smash fries came warm not hot i don't know what to make of my dine in experience but the location is clean. I'm just seriously considering going to another location however since there's one other location near us. read more

Have been here many times over the past couple months and I keep coming back. The food is always fresh and delicious and my mobile order is always ready to go. Friendly staff. i had an appointment in the area, and was really hungry, so i came in for a quick lunch. i ordered the kids hamburger, with tots. i wasn't expecting it to be around $8 for a plain hamburger, but it was actually very delicious with absolutely nothing on the burger. the bread was warm, pillowy soft with a slight chew- absolutely amazing!!! the burger patty seasoned perfectly, and nicely flat top grilled!! the tots nice and super hot, salty and very crunchy!! meal was absolutely delicious!! i got the infused orange drink; it had tumeric, and i think ginger in it- delicious!!! great fast service, and clean restaurant!!! definitely will be back to other locations as well!!! yummmmm read more

I had been a regular at this location however my experience with them today is beyond the pale. My Smashburger took 14 min to come then they noticed that my onion rings were missing. Took another 7 min and when I got home both were cold cold and the order of onion rings only brought 4 onion rings no larger than a quarter.25cent coin. I had the best burger I've had in a very very very long time. I'm pretty sure I'm going to crave it by tomorrow. My daughter and I both ordered the bacon smash burger. She got hers with smash sauce in lieu of mayo along with regular fires. She said her was delicious. But wait...I ordered the same burger as it comes but added a haystack. OMG it was so delicious that I ate the entire thing! Don't walk there...run! I also added the smash fries and they were delicious too. They didn't need any dipping sauce. I've spent the last few years accepting that lays potato chips are 80% air, but apparently smashburger was inspired by their method, because wtf is this? I come in, spend money on your overpriced food, but the food is good so we pay.. and can't even get a full ranch cup? Not even a half full ranch cup? I have been in the Phoenix area for 10 months and have been looking for my favorite burger, my favorite pizza, etc. I finally tried Smashburger and so far they win ( in the fast food burger category at least.) I tried both the classic beef burger and the turkey burger, and the mushroom Swiss beef burger. I love the turkey burger best cuz it is a little lighter and less of a brick in my belly. Love the thinner well seasoned well seared patties. Love the choice of buns ( I like brioche) and love adding a haystack onion topper. They have so many delicious choices.....AND they make dairy-free shakes! I will write back once I have tried them. Still looking for the best full-service restaurant burger....suggestions? read more

Went there to dine in and noticed a sign saying one of the fryers were out of service. Knowing we would be waiting for a little extra time wasn't a problem for me. The biggest problems I had was how management and staff handled the situation. They lost our order somehow and when we brought it to their attention they brought out one burger and nothing else for our party of 3. I kindly went up to rectify the situation. It took going up front 3 times and waiting for the manager then demanding to see the manager with all 3 of us at the front before any real change happened. After 1 and 1/2 hours later we finally got the rest of our order in pieces. Not only did the manger hide and not come resolve the issue until all 3 of us were at the front but she really was abandoning her front staff during the whole situation. It's a shame because the food was good. I did make sure they brought us hot food, because the front girl filling the orders had food sitting in the window that was cold and unorganized. want to say what a great improvement there has been at this location. I have been going there since it opened and for a while the management was poor. The staff were not friendly. The food wasn't great. I'm not sure who is the new management now but they have made tremendous strides in turning the store around. The staff is always friendly. Ordered takeout/delivery, one meal was a kids meal with a chocolate milk. The order arrived and no chocolate milk with the kids meal. I called and they apologized and said I could come pick it up...I ordered delivery for a reason. They said I could just tell them next time I order I didn't get the milk. The food at Smash is always good. I would qualify it as high end fast food. The toppings are always fresh, I love how you can customize your order online and they are usually very fast. The young man who works the front of the house at the Powers and McKellips location in Mesa is excellent. Burgers here are good - cooked after you order them and delivered hot and fresh. The ingredients are likewise fresh -- get the Arizona burger ... It has fresh jalapeño slices on it. Also good are the salads -- spinach and goat cheese with balsamic is excellent... Add a chicken breast for some extra protein. I find the black bean 'veggie' burger to be tasty but a little dry and difficult to eat: it falls apart before you can get it into your face. We have loved smash burger in the past. There used to be a line of people. However, it has been going downhill for about 3 years. Here are the main issues: 1. Customer service is lacking. At our recent visit, the cashier did not smile at us as she took our order at all. The energy is very dull in there. She honestly seemed annoyed we had a gift certificate. She didn't know how to scan or enter the code. She had to get the GM. His people skills weren't anything amazing. 2. The hamburgers are smaller. The shakes are smaller. The prices are higher. Meh. Just okay. I used to looooove Smashburger. All time fav was the bbq bacon cheddar burger with sweet fries. I haven't been in YEARS and the family wanted Smashburger tonight, so we decided on it for dinner. I got my old favorite, and it just felt as though there were smaller portions and there just wasn't as much flavor. I definitely remember this food being more flavorful in the past. We ordered and paid online for a pickup order at the Smashburger website which was quick and easy. We drove right over and our order was ready when I walked in. The store had many safety measures in place and I felt comfortable going in to retrieve our order. The young lady behind the counter was friendly and addressed me immediately and promptly handed over our bag of goodies with her gloves and mask on. Upon opening our bags, I found 2 fresh and hot burgers with perfect toppings (we asked for extra extra pickles and they provided!) and fresh and hot fries. This was such a nice treat considering we've stopped eating out because of covid.
