The Plymouth, MN smashburger location (Store #1791) is uniquely terrible at anything customer service, and lacks any signs of hospitality as well. Upon my 1 and ONLY trip I'll ever be taking to this location, the whole experience was lacking on any sort of customer service etiquette. The person taking orders (according to my receipt, was "Stanley") was wearing a winter beanie style hat to start. He took roughly 5 minutes ringing in the order of the person in front of me, of which consisted of a cheeseburger and soda to go. Even in a full service casual restaurant setting, that order should take about 30 seconds total to write down and confirm it was correct. Then when it was my turn, I walked to the counter, and said good evening, to no response from Stanley, and a very blank stare. I then proceeded to tell him my order, since he said nothing, much less what can I get for you tonight. It took roughly the same amount of time to get the food into their computer, and prompt me for my payment. After I paid, I was handed a receipt, at which time I said thank you (again to him not saying anything, much less a simple thank you for coming in today), and sat down at a table to wait for my order. Granted, I know this isn't super "quick service" (QSR), but cooked to order quick service, so I was anticipating waiting maybe 8-10 minutes at the far end, for our order. I ended up being there almost 20 minutes before our food was brought out by a different person, who also didn't say anything, and just handed me our bag. It then took the general manager about a week to reach out to us with a resolution, at which time, he didn't even offer to mail out a gift card, or refund the order on his end in his system. He said I could stop back up and give them another shot, free of charge. Why would I do this? What would tell me that anything would be different this time around? Overall, a very poorly run location of smashburger. I'd strongly advise against going to this one. read more

Maybe I am not a burger expert based on these review, but holy moly, this place is so good!!!! I do see many people complain about how salty it is. I like it, it's seasoned and tasty. I don't eat beef, so when I find a place that makes Turkey burgers (not just a crap one to put on the menu, but an amazing one, I'm all in). Thin, crispy, delicious patty with all the bomb fixings. Smash burger is my favorite burger chain and my absolute go-to when we need last minute food. Ordering online and then driving to pick it up is about the same time as going somewhere with a drive-thru window anyway! I always get their turkey burgers; they are in redoble well seasoned and the way that they cook then gets a bit of crisp to it. You can tell that the meat that they're serving is much fresher and higher quality than the other burgers around. They're also not huge, so they don't get you too full. They have different types of fries and sides, but the smash fries are where it's at - they've got garlic and Parmesan; perfectly craveable! Also, get a milkshake! It's all great!! I went here this weekend and can promise you that I will never eat at smashburger again. In the past i have gotten it delivered and while it took a while, it was still pretty good. I decided to go into the restaurant because i didn't want to wait. Bad mistake. First, they had about 13 employees squished into the kitchen and front order area. Maybe 3 of them were wearing masks. I saw cooks touching their face with gloves on, then going to touch food. The employees were swearing, yelling at each other, making derogatory comments about customers that had just left, and overall making the waiting experience pretty uncomfortable and annoying. I thought that the food might have made it worth it. Nope. Flavorless burger, but I can't say the fries weren't amazing. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. Check out the five guys nearby or better yet, skip over to Maple Grove for some local options. read more

Believe or not, I came here late Saturday afternoon after returning from the Minnesota State Fair. I should have had more food on a stick, but had a low tolerance for the lines as I was trying to see as much of the fair as possible. I had previously been to a Yelp Elite event in Houston (thanks Farrah!) that featured a SmashBurger trailer and jumped at the chance to try another when Ron made the suggestion. This SmashBurger (locatd in Plymouth) has just opened and in terms of their relatively minor service kinks it shows. When I came in, I noticed a certain lack of confidence and the need for a smoother work flow. The consequence for me was that my take out order could have been taken and delivered a little sooner. Past that, there was a lot to like about this SmashBurger. The dining space is handsome, with comfortable seating and clean restrooms. I liked the hip background music, although after my wait I had had enough. My Twin Cities Smashburger was delicious, as were the Haystack Onions. However, the ultimate compliment game from Gayle after she tasted the burger after I brought it home. She usually just asks for a bite, but this time thought it was so good that she kept asking for more. read more

LOVE THE BURGERS!! They have THE BEST PICKLES! I always order my burger with extra pickles and extra tomatoes. The patty is nice and hot, and the veggies add a cold crunch. I prefer the regular fries vs. the Rosemary fries myself. My only quibble is that they offer a number iPod beers, but no wines. I'm no longer a beer drinker as it just makes me feel bloated. P & I were out shopping for all the things a new homeowner needs. He turned to me as we were on our way to Lowes and said "I need food." We decided to try Smash Burger. We have been to Five Guys for burgers and liked it. BUT I have to say Smash beats them. I ordered the American Cheese Burger and the Smash fries. The burger was cooked well but was very juicy. It was not shaped so you could tell it was not a frozen patty. The only thing I would do next time is hold the ketchup and mustard and put my own on at the table. This is just my picky preference since I don't like too much condiments on my food. P had the mushroom & swiss chicken patty. He really enjoyed it and said they didn't skimp on the mushrooms. Now the fries .... OMG there was some rosemary love on them. The fries are definitely worth coming to this place. One thing P notice was the font Smash used is the same as LOL Cats. I only give it four stars since the smash fries had too strong of a rosemary flavor and were kinda greasy and skinnier than I thought they would be. This spot is truly special. I maintain that this is one of if not the best burger I've ever had, and so cheap too! On top of that you'll be pleasantly surprised by anything you get from the menu, the chicken sandwiches both grilled and fried as well as the hot dogs are all amazing. For desert I'd highly recommend the Oreo shake, the best consistency of any shake I've had to date. All around one of my top stops to eat overall. read more

It's a burger joint, so I'm gonna go chew on it. Okay, so I tend to avoid Yelping about a chain, but since Smashburger doesn't have a location in St. Louis, then I don't feel so bad. Although, I see that they are opening one up in St. Charles this summer...nice. I had a good time here. Since I was only in town for a couple of days, I made sure that I ordered their Classic Smashburger and Smashfries. Overall, it was a good lunch. The burger went down easy, and the fries were seasoned well enough that I didn't feel the need to whip out the ketchup. The store itself was nice and clean, and their customer service was very friendly. I especially appreciated how they gave me a brief rundown of their menu, as well as a good recommendation for a first-time visitor. The only negative is that it can be a little heavy. After the burger and olive-oil seasoned fries, I felt a bit greasy on the inside. However, this wasn't a surprise, so I wasn't put out or anything. If I wanted to avoid that feeling, then I would have gone elsewhere for a salad. I'm looking forward to their opening in Missouri this summer. We stopped in for lunch last Friday. The place was not as busy as we expected, so I guess it was good cos we didnt really have to wait for long. I ordered the spicy baja burger with a side of fried pickles. My bf ordered twin cities burger with a side of french fries. I liked my burger. It wasnt really spicy as I hoped it would be, but it was good. The fried pickles were interesting. .. pretty sour and salty. My bf also liked his burger. The staff did forget my bf's fries at first, but when we mentioned it, the fries were brought out right away. The fries were ok. We didnt really feel that burger or fries were greasy. The veggies in the burgers were fresh, and the fries were crisp and hot. I didnt really get what greasy burgers and fries other reviewers were talking about. The paper under the fries, fried pickles and our burgers werent even oily. And how would any oil be sitting at the bottom of the tray serving here? Some reviewers here are so unbelievably ridiculous. So recently I had a craving for a burger and a chocolate shake so a friend of mine and I went over to the Smash Burger near my home. I ordered a Twin Cities Smash, Regular size, a large Smash Fries and a chocolate shake. What a JOKE!!!!! What I got was a burger that was smaller than my hand, and when the bun went on all you saw was this HUGE piece of lettuce hanging out. I felt like that lady from the old Wendys commercial....Where's the Beef! And they charged me $6.95 for it! I could have possibly forgiven them if it was a stellar burger, but the mixture of cheeses and the onion bun gave it a foul sour taste like something had gone terribly wrong. As well, my Large order of fries was the SAME exact size order of my friends Regular size Fries. WTF....Of course after I pointed it out they promptly brought out more fries, but really, where is the quality control? And to wrap it up, $3.99 for a pretty small milk shake....Well, I guess the next time I have a hankering for a burger and shake, I will not be dropping over $13 at Smash Burger, I will be dropping in at McDonald's. read more

There are only two things that come to my mind when I see the word smash... okay, two things that are PG. The first is Austin Powers and the second is mushy food that old people eat. Not the greatest to have in mind while walking into a restaurant. The menu had all the standard things that everyone love... fries, burgers, fried pickles. How can you really make a burger wrong? Take some patties from Wal-Mart, put it on your Dad's griller, and voila - Delicious burgers. It's easy to make a good burger but its hard to make a damn good burger. At smashburger... you just get a good burger with the images of Austin Powers be shaggidelly. The fries were okay but the fried pickles had enough sodium for weeks. I peeled off the breading to make it less salty only to find that the pickle itself must have marinated in salt for days. I threw out the entire basket because it was unbearable. read more

I might have given this 2.5 SMASH stars if SMASH possible but it is not a SMASH option. The first thing I noticed was the cutesy, annoying, naming convention of prefacing everything on the menu with the word SMASH. It did take a while to get my burger and it was very SMASH greasy. Probably in the realm of one of the greasiest that I have ever been served. Nothing special about the burger. Nothing has been reinvented here. Then there is the SMASH price. You can expect to pay table service rates for what is essentially fast food. Will I return to a Smash Burger? I think SMASH not. read more

The spicy baja was juicy and just as good as when I tried it at a previous Yelp Event. However, I agree with Ngoc that there weren't enough fries for one order. They seemed to be more stingy with the smash fries than they were with the regular fries so if you want more fries, maybe order the regular ones instead of the smash ones. It was kind of expensive (averaging about $9 per person for lunch - and that's just for the burger and fries, no drink included). The service was friendly. I would give this place 3.5 stars if I could. I can't quite pinpoint what it was missing. The burger and fries were good. I'm still trying to decide if I prefer 5 Guys or Smashburger. Smashburger has better burger toppings, but I feel like 5 Guys has better value and their burgers are just as juicy. read more

Eh.... I don't know. I'm struggling with giving this 2 or 3 stars. I can't decide. The first 3 times I went here, the burgers were fantastic! I tried the rosemary fries (at fellow yelper's recommendations) but found that they weren't for me. Just not a rosemary fan I guess. I liked the regular fries though. I could see myself becoming a regular. The thing was, the most recent trip I went - and ordered a BBQ Bacon Chesseburger the thing was dripping in fat and grease- literally dripping - as in I picked it up and watched droplets shower down off of it for over a minute. I mean was this thing deep fried and someone forgot to strain it? It was so gross and greasy I don't think I can ever go back. My stomach still gurgles just thinking about that greasy nasty mess it made in my stainless steel basket. It will be a while before I can stomach that place again. read more

My go-to place when I want a burger for lunch! The employees here have always been really nice and quick with orders. They have an order online feature if you are too busy to wait in line for your food during the lunch or dinner rush! Always take advantage when a restaurant has that! I always change up my burgers here, usually sticking to the crispy chicken, but the one constant that I always get is the Sweet Potato SmashFries and the fried pickles! If you haven't been to a Smashburger location I highly suggest stopping in, it is way better than most fast food burgers and the quality can't really be beat! Also, the Jalapeno Baja burger is AH-MAZING and a must try! Its great with the crispy chicken! Great way to have fast food without feeling guilty later! ;) read more

The boyfriend and I went here for lunch today. Immediately upon walking in, we were greeted by a friendly gentlemen (who, now after looking at the receipt, we believe his name is Chad). I loved the look of the place. Inside it was clean, smelled delicious, and I loved the colorful tile behind the counter. We started looking at the menu and then Chad asked if we'd been there before. When we said we hadn't, he immediately came around to the other side of the counter and starting walking us through the menu. I loved that he was standing there just helping us and answering our questions. He provided some good recommendations and we finally ordered. We shared an order of smash fries and I ordered the Twin Cities burger. Our food came out quickly and looked delicious. Taking my first bite, I realized how incredibly messy the burger was. The meat patty was nothing special. It kinda just tasted like your average burger patty that you could get anywhere. And it really would've been nice to have it wrapped up in an extra paper. And there was way too much mayo on it. But that didn't stop me from eating the whole burger and licking my fingers when I was done. I did have to wipe most of the mayo off, and I used about 32 napkins in the process of eating the burger. Oh, and the bun was really yummy also. The fries were sooooo good! I loved the seasonings they used and it was the right about of fries for two people to share one order. In all, this was a great experience. The burger was cheesey, greasy, sloppy, and filling, but with a mediocre meat flavor. The fries were awesome. The employees were very friendly. read more
