The service here was okay. It felt like a whole bunch of kids playing around but it didn't bother me much. When I received my order, it was completely wrong but it was rectified right away. As far as the ambiance, I think it's very clean and laid back. I enjoyed watching the Spurs game while I ate. Now let's get into the food... I'll start off with the bad: Seafood Boils: I believe the crawfish weren't washed well enough. They had a distinct smell and lots of poop. I've never had them like this and I've eaten crawfish in a lot of places and different cities. The "queen crab leg" was good and a nice size. And the potatoes and andouille sausage were good along with the eggs. Overall I think they could improve the actual water and seasoning in which the seafood is cooked in. The sauce was okay but also lacked some flavor. Needless to say, I will not be returning for any boils but maybe try other items on the menu. Boudin Balls: 5/5 - full of flavor and it was fresh! Fried Pickles: 5/5 - the best I've had. Delicious! All of this came out to $182 including the tip. I think they are a bit overpriced and charge for every little thing like taking the head off the shrimp lol. read more

I had an amazing first time experience! We were greeted as soon as we walked in. Our server was extremely friendly and helpful with explaining the menu options. Sooooo disappointed my daughter was craving a boil so I ordered her a snowcrab boil with shrimp they added 1 potatoe 1 corn I had to pay extra for 1 boiled egg and extra for garlic butter sauce, their special sauce was good what was DISAPPOINTING was the size of the 2 clusters!!! Went here for an afternoon crab boil this weekend and it was pretty delicious. The service was good. Could have used a refill of drinks as we did not get any but that's not a huge deal. The flavor in the boils was very tasty. The base was not too hot while even the second temperature sauce was pretty warm, but right to our liking. I feel like some of the charges for crawfish was a bit high as you don't get very much crawfish I understand it's by the pound, and the pound may vary in quantity, but it would be good for them to let them know that you may not get as much as you think or make sure that it's plentiful throughout the entire boil. Additionally, in the boil, if there are multiple people in our case five, it would be nice to at least make sure that there is enough potatoes and corn pieces to give each person in the group one of each of those items. Overall, price atmosphere service was very good and we will likely be back again in the future Make sure, though that you are prepared to spend a decent amount of money on these boils as everything is based on market pricing, and even our server was cut off guard slightly by the fact that one of the prices of the boil that we were looking at was about $15 higher than she had said Based on her own recollection without noticing that the price had gone up, but they are very transparent. there is market price listed on the menu, but a QR code allows you to scan and see what the current market price is so there's no sticker shock when you get your bill read more

This was a close debate for us between a 3 or a 4. It was empty on a weekend. Made us a bit curious as to why. I can see the issues. One, the process of scanning a QR code to see market price for the food....just why? Also, I know not the season, but we were hoping for crawfish. The boil came out faster than we expected which was a plus. Also the spice was delicious. We had Cajun slightly spicy. We continued to dip every item into the "sauce" that pooled at the bottom. We had the trolley stop, with extra potatoes,corn, and sausage. Also added vegetables. It was a first for us. And I will say this, it was a GREAT choice. The veggies in the sauce were absolutely delicious. Everything in the boil was delicious, except for one thing. Coming from some culinary experience, the shrimp was way too tough to peel. Which made our experience frustrating. It happens when they are de thawed in properly or overcooked. Either way they aren't suppose to be that hard to peel. Our waitress was amazing! We have been here many times and each time we have loved it! The place is always nice and tidy, the staff always helpful and friendly and the seafood! The seafood is amazing! They usually have the live dungee's and that what my wife loves! The drinks are always great and made the way you want them if you ask! The crab always come out fresh and cooked perfectly and their hushpuppies are the best I've ever had! We recently had The Catch that usually feeds 3-4 for $175.10. It came with the following: 1LB King Crab, 2 Queen Snow Crab Clusters, 3 Dungeness Clusters, 3 Corn, 3 Potato, and a link of Andouille Sausage! WOW was it fantastic, had ZERO complaints as we ate most of it but we could not finish it but it was definitely worth the price. Definitely our favorite seafood spot in SA, we'll always go back as long as the standards stay high! We've been visiting Smashin Crab at the Bandera location for years, and we were so excited when this one on Alamo Ranch opened. Since then we've had kids, so most of the time we do To-Go orders or DoorDash and we're always happy with our food. We decided to visit the Alamo Ranch location to dine there for the first time. It was a great experience! Our daughter, of course, enjoyed coloring and drawing the whole time. Our son enjoyed the music and the shrimp. I forgot our server's name but she was absolutely amazing. They did try to appease us and got us another order of shrimp. This second batch was 5% better but still so horrendously overcooked that it was looking like mashed potatoes coming out of the shell. We have eaten here many times. We picked up an order to take home. I ordered a snow crab cluster. It was a total rip off. It was so tiny a toddler would not have had enough to eat. My son eats Carolina reaper peppers and habanero peppers. I do not eat that spicy of food so we got the number 2 which is jalapeno hot. This was so hot we both were had tears. I couldn't eat it. The food was so hit or miss. The onion rings were great. The oysters are something I would not order here again. My daughter once loved the large crunchy chicken tenders. I believe they made a change because they are now much thinner. She wouldn't even eat them because they were flavorless and chewy. I will never return to this location and order food to go. My husband ordered the shrimp basket sub for the sauté shrimp(not saute at all) and broccoli. Mind you I have ordered this before my husband had to send back while at the restaurant for the amount of shrimp that was in this almost $15 plate. Once he got home he was still disappointed with the size of the shrimp the amount and how everything was in a separate container. I had this before with bigger shrimp and packaged with the shrimp and broccoli together. But the star(being sarcastic) of the show was the Low Country crab boil with 2 boiled eggs added. The sauce was just a paid actor....crab legs overcooked couldn't even get meat out of them they were dirty with marine leech eggs attached to them and the head on shrimp we couldn't peel either overcooked and one had bright red blood coming out of it. I called and spoke to the manager Lydia she wanted me to bring the food back for a refund she needed to see what the food looked like I told her I look pictures but said I still needed to bring the food back?? It was close to closing time and I would have never made it in time. I told her I spent $64 on trash she corrected me and said $59 but yes $64 with taxes. Lady I spent $64 on trash seafood. I asked for the general manager she said his name is Chris and he will be in tomorrow she took my name and number and said he will call me. I poured what we had left in an HEB bag and will wait for Chris to call me. I didn't get a picture of the shrimp plate my husband worked all day and was starving. Restaurants should put more care in their to go food...but when you have a policy that you have to bring the food back before you can get a refund or re make is absurd this is why the kitchen staff is not putting 100% in the quality of food they are sending out on to go orders. Some people don't live right down the street. Management look into a better policy that will build trust with your customers and get staff that truly care about the quality and the cleanliness of the seafood they are preparing. I gave 2 stars because the person who took my order was nice. ***UPDATE*** Chris the General Manager called and was very professional and nice he is going to refund my money back and send us a gift card. We have been to the location at 8910 Bandera rd, and please trust me, save your money and time and go to the Bandera location. I love a good shrimp boil so I was excited to try this place. We went on a Friday evening so it was pretty busy as we expected. When we ordered they did seem to be out of a lot of the food we wanted including their sweet tea. I ordered the shrimp boil and my boyfriend ordered the basket with friend shrimp and catfish. I went a bit out of my comfort zone for a shrimp boil with veggies, corn, potatoes, and sausage, with a side of their "soppin bread". I am so glad I did! I got the garlic sauce- be warned that there's a tiny bit of heat, but I'm a wimp about spicy food and I could handle it. This is my first experience with a boil, and I honestly loved it. There's something so satisfying about having a bunch of good food dumped out in front of you to dive into, bib and gloves included! My husband got an assortment of fried seafood, which was quite good, and their fries and onion rings are both good. Now for my one complaint- in the boils, you can only order it by the pound. That is FAR beyond what I can or want to consume, and reheating at home just isn't as satisfying. So it's great if you have two people wanting the exact same thing, and not so great if you're only ordering for yourself.
