Came here on a Saturday night for a family dinner and had a wonderful experience. We started with the roasted artichoke appetizer, which was a huge hit. It was served with flatbread for dipping, and the lemon butter sauce was absolutely delicious. I followed our server's recommendation and ordered the Chicken Napoletana for my entrée. In all seriousness, it was one of the best chicken dishes I've ever had. The balance of flavors, the sauce, and the overall execution were perfect. I would absolutely come back just to order this dish again. We also had the pizza and spaghetti with meatballs, and both were delicious. The bread deserves a special mention as well- 10/10. I found this restaurant while visiting San Antonio and wanted to avoid dining near the River Walk, so I followed an article that listed it as the best authentic Italian restaurant in the city. Took the entire family for dinner. Kids were a bit wound up and I worried they'd be too much but our server was amazing, the other staff was friendly as well. Arrived without a reservation so had a short wait, 30 minutes, but they had some seating out front with plenty of space for kids to run out energy. Once seated, we were offered drinks, ordered appetizer and the bread was so good. Meals were so good but didn't come close to finishing so they made excellent lunches next day. We visited Tiu Steppi's for Easter brunch and it did not disappoint. Their brunch menu offers a variety of items including pancakes, which was perfect for my picky toddler. I had the shrimp Alfredo, the pasta was definitely made from scratch in house and melts in your mouth. The shrimp was prepared beautifully and cooked to perfection. The portions are large, so you will definitely have leftovers. The restaurant is in the smaller end so making a reservation is a must especially if you have a larger group. read more

I've heard good things about Tiu Steppi's Osteria so I was happy to finally get to try the neighborhood restaurant. They offer a good variety of choices, their pasta was cooked very well and I liked the flavor of the sauce. I ordered a penne pasta dish, nothing extravagant and I tried their sangria. I found that the meal was comparable to most of the other Italian restaurants I've been to. The service was good, but it was quite busy and there didn't seem to be a ton of seating indoors so our table felt a little tight with the other tables around u. The restaurant was decorated with an Italian style and is located in strip so I'm sure their space is limited. Tiu Steppi's is a charming Italian restaurant with generous portions and polite service. However, stick to ordering their Italian dishes & stay away from the pizza. The chicken parm is delicious with a hefty serving of pasta. The side salad is quite large. But the House Special 14" pizza was under baked and the toppings were only centered inside about an 8" diameter, not to the crust edges, leaving a large portion without toppings. It was doughy and overly smothered in cheese. I brought the leftovers home so I could bake it longer & add my own ingredients. Our server was on top of clearing plates & drink refills. It's a bit hard to talk because the din is loud in such a small space. I will give it another try but I'll order something different. read more

Smaller place but great ambiance. If you want somewhere quiet yet with great staff to cater fully to you this is the place. Pro tip: Order a bottle of wine and share. A meal is best with a bottle you can bond over. I like and recommend their Malbecs and Pinot Noirs from the California region. Appetizers are all top notch. I can't help but repeatedly order the Antipasto- adult charcuterie board for those not in the know ;) so many meats, cheeses, honey, fruits, olives and crostinis. I'm typically a fan or the chicken or eggplant parm. The special this week is scallops over fettuccine with a mushroom sauce. Can I get a chefs kiss? Seriously though, this place is the real deal. Overall great experience! We were acknowledged and seated as soon as we walked in. The vibe of this place is nice, quiet and rustic. The garlic knotts were great, they were a little hard but not terrible. We ordered calamari, Chicken Alfredo with rosé sauce and Chicken Napolitana. All of it was amazing MINUS the calamari. I live near here and always see this place when I go to Woodrows. Today I was craving some Italian food and thought to give this place a try. Once you walk in, the hostess greet you and are very friendly. The place is small but decorative. It was also a bit warm. The outside was a mess as they are renovating, but they did a terrible job of hiding it from customers. Our server was awful. Not a smile. She greeted us with no expression at all. Was short (not height wise, but sure, that too) and walked off before I could order an app. Luckily I stopped her before she completely left the area. She checked on the table once. (It was not busy) I ordered a small salad and my date got the shrimp scampi. We also ordered spinach, artichoke dip. The dip came out first. It was disgusting. The whole texture of it was awful. It was watery on the bottom, tough cheese that you needed a steak knife to cut through, and the spinach look like it was just thrown in there. I didn't eat any of it after the first bite, and my date only finished her small portion. Next came my salad, which I guess they thought I wanted it first when that was actually my meal so here I am eating while my date waits for her meal. The salad was soggy. It was unappetizing. I was not satisfied. Finally 20 minutes later my date meal comes out. She says she liked it, but she only ate one of the shrimps and a few bites of the pasta. She took it home. Those three items cost $66 plus. At least I now know, I won't be coming here again. read more

We did an Uber Eats from this restaurant last night because we hadn't been here in quite a long time. Part of the order was missing. One of the entrées was so spicy it was inedible. I love spicy food. I typically order Thai hot, level five spicy from Indian restaurants, and I often eat raw jalapeños when I'm having rotisserie chicken. But this was way beyond any of that. The restaurant refused to make any of this right. WILL NEVER RETURN, if you go I suggest avoiding the Osso Buco and the fried risotto balls are just weird. read more

LOCATION: The restaurant is very close to 1604 for easy access, and it's in a nice area with some nightlife as well like Fast Eddy's and Little Woodrow's which is fun after dinner. Inside, it's super pretty yet small enough to feel romantic and comfortable. All the people we've dealt with there have been awesome, no complaints at all on service. FOOD: For an appetizer, I can't recommend the Burrata enough. It's so good. Burrata cheese has a malleable, rubber exterior and a soft gooey inside. They serve it with flatbread and a fantastic pesto cream, which I've never paired before, but it blew me away. Some of our favorite mains are shown below. I LOVE chicken piccata and Tui Steppi's does it wonderfully. Simple and light. My fiancé is a pesto critic, and she loves the pesto pasta and Osso Buco. Even me, not being as much of pesto fan, can really enjoy the Osso Buco as well. DRINKS: Margaritas are good, albeit pretty standard. The exposed brick, mahogany wood, and classic music creates a romantic setting that can be hard to find these days. It's like stepping back in time and I think we could all use that these days. We have been going to Tiu Steppi's for the last 7 years and the quality of the food has been slowly downgrading. I usually opt for the House specialty chicken piccata. I love all the added ingredients with the artichokes, mushrooms and prosciutto. I don't recall the chicken being so breaded. It tasted like a piece of frozen breaded chicken and it was very dry. I hate leaving bad review since this was one of my favorite Italian spots but I feel like I may have to start looking around for another local gem:( read more

This is our 2nd time here. This time was a huge disappointment . We took our friends here and raved how they would love it. Talk about embarrassing. We ordered the chicken parm, fettuccine Alfredo with chicken, pepperoni pizza a Cesar salad and a fried mozzarella appetizer. The chicken parm was cold, the noodles were soggy and the chicken was not very tasty. The chicken fettuccini was bland and the pizza was very doughy. The only thing that was very good was the salad. The service was also lacking. Had to ask for every refill. We got a second basket of bread and were charged but weren't told there would be a charge. The check was wrong and we ended up having some of our friends items on our bill and the waiter was never around. We had to keep asking other workers for items. Overall, not a great experience. We stopped for lunch today. We had not anticipated eating here as we had passed by so many times with it right next to a favorite Bird food store. The chicken parmesan was amazing and I enjoyed the angel hair pasta with it. I normally ask for Alfredo instead but ordered it as a side instead. I was pleasantly surprised by the angel hair with a light tasty marinara. The garlic knots were delicious! We saved out leftovers and ordered a tiramisu and I was complaining about the $12 price tag but even that was shareable and we had leftovers of it also. Yummy! read more

San Antonio hidden gem- The brunch here is terrific!!!! I think they only serve breakfast/brunch on Saturday and Sunday starting at 9:00AM, but then are also open for lunch/dinner later on starting at 11. Tiu Steppe's toast is like French toast and my teen was very impressed with the flavor. Hubby's omelette was amazing and I had the carni casseroles which were both also a hit at our table. The restaurant has such a wonderful atmosphere and. It's nicely decorated. I was also impressed by the friendly service. Our waitress was so helpful.
