They report reviews when they don't like what you have to say. This is my third time writing a review. Just imagine how low their reviews would be if they didn't run to yelp everytime someone gave them a rating they didn't like. I came here with my husband and a few friends. The restaurant was closed in the middle of the week during "open" hours. Ill keep it brief. The location is poor. Lots of homeless. Hard to find parking. If you happen to find parking you have to pay $$$ and then walk to the location. If you show up, they may be closed without warning. Crummy business practices. read more

Such a cute area! This bar is right in front of the esquire IMAX theater downtown. It may be a bit hard to find because it is covered by a patio wood cover, just know it's next to a sushi bar! I went here for an event with 70+ people. Let me tell you, the bartenders did a great job getting the line down for drinks super fast and very attentive. They had very creative margs! The inside of the bar is super cute with an old vintage vibe mixed with a modern twist. There's also an extended area past the bar that provides a bit privacy. We reserved this space for my dad's 80th birthday. I really appreciate that you didn't have to do much decorating the space is already classy, beautiful and ready to go! Plus it comes with a bar tender! Paula the owner was super responsive and ACCOMMODATING via email and made the process seamless. She even accommodated food preference choices. Our package came with finger foods/ hors d'oeuvres. I thought the food was ok, the selection of food was kind of not age appropriate for the event but the owner would have and WAS receptive to changes even within the same price range. The bar tender was super accommodating with the music as well. Over all I would rent this place again in a heart beat I would just have a bigger budget for food. Fun seasonal/themed menus for any kind of holiday or events. Plus, the place to be for celebratory Chambongs. Came here with my girl friends for a quick bite before watching the Taylor Swift eras tour at the Esquire IMAX theater, and it was awesome. Love the Pumpkin Curry Soup, fall bruschetta, and of course the Chambongs. It's been awhile since we took shots, but the Casaamigo tequila was really good. Had a vanilla aftertaste. This review is for their afternoon tea. I love that a bar offers afternoon tea lol (first Saturday of the month here), not a place you'd expect to have afternoon tea, that's for sure! At $38 per set (portions are definitely good for two people) and $14 for a pot of tea, prices are definitely on the lower end. I have to say though that for the quality you get, it definitely isn't worth any more than that. Everything seemed store-bought and not fresh, and nothing really tickled my fancy taste-wise. Parking is also very difficult in this area. We parked in a garage a couple blocks away and paid about $10 for a couple hours or so. I give this place a 10/10. We went here for a girlfriend's birthday. It was about 12 of us. From the beginning, it was a great vibe. The ambiance was everything we wanted. Very welcoming. It gave a cozy feeling, but also felt vibrant and lively at the same time. Our server, Steven was amazing! He didn't make us feel rushed, he was attentive to our needs, gave us descriptions of the menu/drink items we asked about, and at the end of the night, celebrated the birthday girl with us! The bartender made each drink to perfection. No drink was too weak, too sweet, or anything negative. About the food: -The girls in our party said the bread pudding was good. But I don't like soggy bread so it's a no for me. They said the flavor was amazing and consistency was exactly what bread pudding is supposed to be like. -Charcuterie board had a great variety. The cheese was good, the fruit was fresh, the veggies were pickled to perfection, and the bread wasn't toasted too hard. The only thing we didn't like was the pit inside of the olives. But that wasn't a deal breaker.. We still ate em! -Hummus, ON POINT!! -Pesto pizza, AMAZING -Mac n cheese, meh.. there was some kind of sweetness to it that none of us liked. It wasn't gross though. Located across the IMAX. Indoor/Outdoor seating ..the indoor being pretty cute with little sitting areas and a bar (long side had hooks underneath). The food is made in-house with few vegan options. They had a specialty cocktail list and it's nice to see different concoctions or modified classics.. I tried leaving my card to open a tab and was refused and told they just cash you out in the end. Originally I was about to leave a scathing 1 star review of my experience at this bar. We heard about this place from a friend of mine after seeing the Barbie Anniversary advertising. We (group of 4) got there and settled in the bar waiting for a table and ordered some drinks/food. The AMOUNT of time we waited to be served as well as the miscommunication of being shown a table versus getting it ourselves and not to mention, we have to remind them several times of our order. But after almost each server came and apologized for the wait and really made our group feel like a priority as well as offering us free appetizers/ drinks, our group had a lovely time. I guess this is a good reminder that during this time of everything opening up again we have to be patient during rush hours and understanding to servers and owners who are trying their best. First time visiting Smic's last night and holy happy heifer was it amazing! First, the location is dope because they have a quaint, and relaxing patio space and it's off the crazier part of K street. While we couldn't eat/drink inside, we did venture in for a few minutes and the decor inside is rad! Really spacious and classy, but not pretentious and ritzy. Second, the menu. OMG that menu! We ate almost everything on there and every item exceeded our expectations. I will wholeheartedly vouch for that mac & cheese, margarita flatbread, and charcuterie number. Everything tasted fresher than fresh and I truly couldn't stop stuffing food in my yapper. When it started to become painful in my midsection, I finally figured out I should stop. From a sippables standpoint, they had a simple but sophisticated selection of wines and beers, all local, of course. Last, but certainly not least, the service was great! Our glasses never ran dry, we got a killer recommendation on prosciutto in our mac and just all around had a great time. Get the chambong! Other than that, this place is pretty much like any other bar downtown. It's clean and a good vibe for after an event at the Convention Center or the Safe Credit Unit Performance Arts Center because it's conveniently close. The staff was extremely friendly. A cute hidden gem on K st. I've gone twice now and each time I thoroughly enjoyed the vibe of the place as well as the drinks and food. Highly recommend the Blair Waldorf (had to try because my gig obsession) haha it did not disappoint! Def packs a punch ...loved the candy rim bit. I only need one of these to have me feeling good (lightweight) the pizza (margherita) was nothing special, kinda taste like microwave pizza. The empanadas were good and came with a nice mango chutney sauce on the side. The boozy pies were a disappointment, good, but nothing "boozy" about them. The decor was nice and sleek looking but the service sucked!!!! The bartender looked like a deer caught in headlights when I tried to order a Mai tai...he said they didn't have the ingredients...I then tried to order a tequila sunrise...again they didn't have the ingredients...I tried to order a midori sour...again they didn't have the ingredients. My friend tried to order a whiskey sour...again they didn't have the ingredients. So I settled for a cocktail they had on the menu called a Blair Waldorf which was $12.50. It was okay, it was vodka with some type of citrus, not worth $12.50. I would totally skip this place. It's a dud. read more

He let us know the owner hasn't updated the online menu and that they are short staffed and the don't have a lot of food options. We were disappointed because what we wanted to eat wasn't available. I went here with a friend last night for the Tuesday Bachelorette viewing party! They've been having these every Tuesday since the current Bachelorette is from Sacramento. They have a large screen set up outside for viewing. There are tables on an outdoor patio. When we got there it was pretty packed which made me a little bit uncomfortable because of Covid. The owner is super friendly. She immediately offered us indoor or outdoor seating and moved chairs in order for us to feel comfortable and safe. They did some really cute things like a bachelorette themed drink menu and trivia and commercial breaks. It was definitely a fun place to be and a nice break from sitting in my house. I recently held an event here on behalf of my company while we were in town for a convention. First, Smic's is a great location to host an event in conjunction with a conference or convention taking place at the convention center. It's basically a stone's throw away. It's also a nice and quiet place to take a client for a quick drink/meeting in the afternoon. There are both indoor and outdoor seating available. The staff at Smic's are top-notch! The drinks they serve are spectacular and made quickly. Paula was great and easy to work with. She and her team were able to put together a dessert display with some of Sacramento's best pastries that were truly scrumptious! I'm so glad I chose Smic's as our venue. BEST WOMAN OWNED BAR IN SACRAMENTO i love smic's! everytime i go i am greeted warmly by staff who makes you feel welcomed and valued as a customer. the wine selection is wonderful, as so are the charcuterie boards they do a great job adhering to covid guidelines as well as i feel safe when im there. the owner is involved and friendly which is rare to find in the sacramento area. they have the cuuutest patio set up for sunny afternoon day drinking! the aesthetic is to die for, make sure you get great ig photos! it is even a great place to knock out some emails during a work break. smic's has brought new, youthful, refined energy back to k street and i am always excited to stop by! keep supporting locally owned! read more

Positives: 1) Staff and service was excellent - Anthony, our server, was great. 2) The interior vibe is awesome, great look and cute place. 3) They have chambongs. Negatives: 1) The food was just okay but costs a premium amount. For instance their charcuterie board has all store bought items, nothing homemade or even improved upon. Literally I think it all came from Costco. 2) The drinks were subpar and when we ordered a bottle of wine, we were charged for 4 glasses of wine. That's quite unusual - normally you'd have a bottle price or provide value in the purchase of a bottle but that wasn't the case. 3) While out of their control, the block of K St they are on isn't the nicest and they're right next door to a dingy storefront. read more

I went to Smic's this past weekend to celebrate my birthday. I sent an email over to see if they had seating for 8, and Paula the owner got back to me quickly and set us up with their community table. It was absolutely perfect, it was set away from other tables so it felt more private. Our server Anthony was phenomenal, super attentive and friendly. We got multiple different dishes to share and everything was delicious! We got all the sharer items- The curry chicken empanadas were my favorite!
