Well I finally did it. I searched Yelp for reputable dentists in Mexico. I found Smile Builders and called their USA phone number and was immediately greeted professionally and was able to book an appointment within a few days. I had broken a tooth and needed to get to a dentist fast. They called me prior to my appt and confirmed and offered to pick me up at the border (which I recommend because I waited a long time at the border as I missed my SENTRI line). I actually drove through and parked in a secure underground parking 1 block away. Dr. Juan and his assistant were amazing! I have to say I have had the best experience ever with these guys. They were super cool, friendly, spoke perfect english and very professional. They took x-rays and walked me through my "mouth" and what they assessed from the X-Rays. I needed more work than I had come in for (which I had assumed). I ended up getting a root canal and crown on my broken tooth, then I had them replace two crowns that were very old and compromised. I had a huge gap in between these crowns that was the result of a shabby overpriced American dentist. In addition they did these two crowns (3 total), fixed my two front teeth that were chipped up. They now look brand new! I was pretty amazed that they did EVERYTHING in one day! I was there for awhile but super happy to get it all done that day. I had their undivided attention and walked out paying only $2,500 for ALL of that work. Plus they threw in a free cleaning. These guys are awesome. I always heard of going to Mexico for dental work. I am so happy I did and now I don't think I would go anywhere else. They have the latest and greatest equipment, They had a CNC machine and made my tooth on the spot. The coolest thing was that they talked me through everything and showed me visually on screen everything they were doing (including my tooth being made with the CNC machine.) Pretty cool as you would normally have to come back two or three times to get this work done in the states. AND they accept credit cards! I really never put too much attention into my mouth health (oral health as they say) so I ended up with a set of teeth that screams Chaaaos! Because of that, I had to get my upper teeth removed and got an all on 6 instead. This has been a long procedure and I would've regretted getting into this if I didn't have their support. They have been taking good care of me, I always arrive by air and we coordinate my pickup to their office. From the beginning I understood that this type of attention is also reflected on their practice. Dr. Castellanos has been my dentist for almost a year now and I like that he's always willing to listen to my concerns. At the beginning of every appointment, we spend a considerable time talking because I have a lot of questions and I have never felt that he's rushing me. He's doing an All on 6 on me and I think that I only got nervous on my first appointment. It actually helped that I had seen a lot of videos on this procedure and I knew what was ahead. Still, I'm here to give credit and thanked them for their work. It wouldn't worked for me if things were different. Like I said, my dentist is always explaining the next step so I feel at ease with him. By the way, the dental assistants in the practice are very capable as well. Lastly, I gotta add that I'm fortunate to have an insurance that allows me see a dentist in Tijuana, since I know many that don't. read more

I had some permanent dentures put in by a US company called Clearchoice. After paying the initial $30,000, Clearchoice put in 8 implants, 4 top and 4 bottom and temporary acrylic dentures. To get the final cubic zirconia dentures I needed to pay an additional $25,000. Unfortunately I got laid off due to Covid and was not able to afford the final dentures. So I was stuck with the temporary ones. However, Clearchoice makes the temporary ones without any metal support so they break really easy. And then Clearchoice charges you to fix them so they keep sucking money out of you. The last time I got them repaired it cost me $400 and they broke the same day. When I called to let them know, I was told that I need to pay another $400 to have them fix it again. At this point I decided I need to find an alternative to Clearchoice as they were the WRONG choice. I heard that you could get good dental work done in Mexico for much cheaper. I started researching places in Tiajuana. I wasn't sure what I was doing but I started reading all the reviews for all the different places. After reading a ton of reviews there was one place that stood out, Smile Builders. And after my first visit I understood why. They were friendly, well knowledged and do great work. And for much cheaper. If you ever thought about getting dental work done in Mexico, I recommend Smile Builders. You won't regret it. read more

So after a recommendation from a friend and a little online research I made the appointment to go down to TJ and get my dental work done at Smile Builders. From the second I picked up the phone everyone there was friendly, bilingual and extremely knowledgeable about what I needed and how to help me achieve my dental goals. I parked at the border and walked over where a ride was waiting for me. The office is on Revolution Ave. so it is a very busy area with lots of commerce going on. Once my X-rays were complete Dr. Elias came up with a plan and a quote that we agreed on even going over options and things that I did not need that the American Dentists told me I did. All in all I did two implants, an extraction and a deep clean/scaling of my gums. It was pain free and incredibly fast. Dr. Elias and his Hygienist Miguel were fantastic and talked me through all the procedures all the while checking to make sure I was comfortable. In the end I left with a prescription which I filled right next door at the pharmacy and the peace of mind knowing my dental health was in good hands with this place. Three days later I have no swelling and very little pain. Amazing work for some pretty invasive dental work. I am recommending Smile Builders to all of my San Diego friends! read more

After weeks of research and speaking with a lot of dentists and people around me, I've decided to do my All-on-4 at Smile Builders. Dr. Castellanos and his crew are the best, it took several calls and emails to understand how they work and also if what are saying is what is online. Well, it's true! I had an accident when I was little and I was too young to have implants, so pretty much of my life, I had a problem with my teeth. Had a previous work in the US, but didn't work, last option the implant denture. As you know in the US is pretty expensive doing this kind of procedures, the quote that doctor give me was $32, 000, that's a lot of money. So, as I said a couple of days did my first step and for the moment everything is good. The quality and patient of Dr. Castellanos is beyond expectations. Every detail on the procedure were perfectly timing and no error. I'll be honest is not like going to Disneyland but is not so bad, I didn't have any pain at all. The first day had my consultation with Dr. Castellanos, took my teeth impressions and prepare for my surgery. I'm happy with the results and finally, I can have a normal smile. The staff here is very knowledgeable and up-to-date with dental treatments. They have a 3D printer to do the crowns on site which is highly appreciated. I was on my way to Ensenada and a friend of mine recommended coming here to get my crowns done- since I kept postponing my appointments back at home- so I changed my plans as soon as I compared prices and time invested vs. what I would get back at home. I had to stay in the city for a week while I had a full mouth crown restoration to correct the massive abrasion and discolouration of my teeth. I basically had worn dentition. Giving my situation, I didn't need any orthodontic appliance or treatment. It was purely done for cosmetic reasons. As I was explained, the results were highly predictable and I really liked how that sounded. We went through a couple of planned stages, everything went as planned and those guys have gained my complete trust and loyalty. At the end, I had plenty of time to visit "el Valle" which is like Baja's own Napa Valley. This is the nicest dental office you will find outside the States and I'm pretty sure it surpasses many. read more

They give top of the line work. This is a procedure that has changed my life for the better. I'm 2 months post-op and I feel that my gums have healed nicely. I know I'm still halfway through the recovery time, but having a pulsing sensation around the implants still freaks me out at times, even when I was told this is entirely normal. Could be because my temp bridge does a pretty good job, that I forget there are now 4 dental implants underneath. At 2 months I have no problems in speech (after practice) or chewing whatsoever. They did emphasize that I should avoid hard and crunchy food for now.... And I'm actually following your instructions Dr. Castellanos! My biggest fear was not being heard once I sat on the dentists chair, but that was covered right at the beginning, we sorta teamed and came up with a cue... which I never used. I am writing to express my disappointment with the services provided by Smile Builders. Despite undergoing major procedures, I have experienced infections and delays in fulfilling warranty obligations. Furthermore, I was prescribed the incorrect medication, necessitating emergency medical attention. After months of waiting, I have yet to receive a forthcoming appointment, and their specialist has taken an inordinate amount of time to review an X-ray and rectify their mistake. The clinic's consistent excuses are unprofessional. I strongly advise against utilizing this clinic, as my experiences have been marred by recurring infections, despite investing thousands of dollars. A review of other client feedback reveals similar concerns regarding infections, which Smile Builders attributes to client gum health, although the frequency of these incidents suggests otherwise. read more

I had tried to contact many dentist in that area and the only office to reply was Smile Builders on Revolutionary Blvd. The front staff was very helpful with coordinating my schedule because I flew in from San Jose CA. Most of the staff speak great English. My dentist was Dr Roacha. Very nice, low key attitude, highly intelligent and, speaks perfect English. All of my procedures performed cost 1/3 the price of what they would have cost in the USA. Plus, they try to do as much dental work as possible so you don't have to make multiple trips to the dentist. They accept most insurance plans. Zoe was the person who answered the phone. She was very kind and patiently answered all my questions and made me comfortable with making an appointment...for the next day. It was an easy 2 1/2 hour drive from Los Angeles and an easy walk to the office. Zoe offered an Uber but I opted to walk (about 10 minutes). The office and equipment are more modern than any Dental Office I've visited. Dr. Javier Dominguez Osuna and his assistant were very professional and did a painless root canal and crown, fixed another tooth and did a cleaning in 3 1/2 hours. I'm am very pleased with the whole experience from beginning to end at Smile Builders. I will be back. I have already recommended them to my friends and family. This place is amazing, right on downtown of Tijuana, I friend of mine told me about Smile builders and, she was very impressed with the facilities, she had a cleaning and some fillings. So I give a try. I call them, make my reservation and from the first call to the ending of the procedure was perfect! Did the regular cleaning and they show me with their TV screen how it was literal the condition of my mouth? I was shocked, why my local dentist did not see this? I found my new dentist and I will do all of my work here. I had a root canal with Dr. Ruiz and I must say I did not have any pain at all, I was scared but his friendly personality made me feel relax. What a wonderful dentist office. Dr. Manuel Gonzalez could not have been more kind and professional. His dental work is top notch, second to none. His dental assistant Abel is as good as it gets. Just an amazing team. The front desk associates are so sweet and helpful. They even came with me to pick up the prescriptions at the pharmacy as my Spanish is terrible. They also arranged for an Uber to pick us up once we crossed the border. When finished they call an Uber to take you back to the border. So easy, stress free and convenient. I have a problem with my wisdom tooth so I was in a constant pain. Since my US dental insurance is not the best one, I decided to go to Mexico for a..." medical tourism". I was walking at Revolution Avenue and saw the sign of Smile Builders, I check and the lady of front desk give me all the information, so I give a try. Dr. Castellanos (JC), was amazing. I was pursuing the 4 in 1 permanent dentures and needed 21 teeth removed first. He and his crew were phenomenal, no pain, very efficient, very communicative. The facilities were pristine. My only problem was the fact that the website shows $10,000 for the cost of 4 in 1 dentures, but that is not true. That would be for only the upper or bottom, not both. I was not able to afford that so I ended up with old style dentures. Only suggestion is that you call or e-mail and get a thorough description of what they will do for how much. read more

The experience was great, beyond my expectations. I have dental insurance in the US and they take it for your treatment, the process is simple and with a few days you can do your dental work half the price or more. Dr. Ruiz was my dentist and he is an amazing guy, did a root canal on my molar tooth and didn't have any pain. I heard about dental tourism but I was afraid about all the insecurity issues in Mexico, but nothing at all. Everyone is very gentle and the they send me back to the border in an Uber, this is a wonderful service. read more
