I just wanted to update this after having gone in for a deep cleaning in January, and a cavity filling in February. Again, I have only positive things to say regarding Dr. C and his staff. My deep cleaning went so smoothly that the dental hygienist was able to do my entire mouth in one session (instead of two separate sessions) and she was able to do so without giving me a shot. I know that not everyone will be in this category, but I was very impressed and happy with my deep cleaning experience! Since then, my gums have been less sensitive & they don't bleed when I floss anymore :) My cavity filling experience was also as smooth and easy as I could have hoped for. The local anesthetic shot was not as painful as I remembered from previous experiences and, again, Dr. C was very gentle but meticulous with my procedure. Overall, I am completely happy with everything about this practice and I would definitely support anyone in coming here for your dental care :) read more

I should've reviewed Dr. C's office 9 months ago; better late than never. Lemme start by saying I was a dental assistant for 2 dental practices so I KNOW some nice/moody or money-hungry dentists who need you to get as much patients in so they can pay the private-school tuition for their 4 elementary school kids. Dr. C is soOo not like that. In my book, when your dentist charges you your copay/deductible (none of this asian "under-the-table-i'll-bill-for-something else" shady business which actually harms you and healthcare practices in general) and writes you a check BACK because you've overpaid, that's GOLDEN. Really, what Dr. do you know would be so honest? The dental office is also clean, professional, and you actually don't feel stressed (the kind of dread you get when you know you don't want to see your dentist) walking in. His staff is small to fit his small practice, but you know what, I like it--very personable with that customer satisfaction touch. Denise (his Reg Dental Hygenist) is gentle, Tricia (Dental Assistant) upbeat, and Norma (front office assistant) ROCKS. I used to drive from Riverside to Northridge or LA to see my dentist and ortho (who I eventually worked for). No Mas! I'm loyal to Dr. C and that says something when you leave one dentist for another! p.s. I'll be honest - I hate going to the dentist! I mean, HATE!!!!! They are very thorough and time efficient with their work and always take the time out to explain what is going on with my teeth I don't need a dentist to hold my hand throughout the process, but I don't want a dentist who seems more like a drill sargeant. These guys are the perfect in betweens! The office employees are super nice. For someone who hates the dentist and still recommends their dentist, I think that my opinion should be held in high regard. I just had an appointment here for the first time today and it was great. I moved out to California a few years back and hadn't settled on a dentist out here. Dr. C and staff are awesome! Norma, helped me right off the bat with my insurance. She provided me the pros/cons of my insurance and whether it benefits me to carry them or be a cash patient. I also loved that they do not double book patients. What is the point of an appointment if you are not seen right at that time at have to wait 15-20 minutes? I was seen at my appointment time and was in and out within an hour. Dr. C and Lisa were very polite and attentive with my examination and cleaning. What I really appreciated was that Dr. C never pressured me into doing anything. He described how my teeth's current state are and gave me options to my maintain them over the years. The best part is I have needed a mouth guard in the past because I grind my teeth, my insurance doesn't cover the guard, yet the office honored the insurance price rather that charging me the full amount. If that wasn't good enough they offer the patients free bleaching! I have definitely found my new dentist. read more

I previously wrote a review about my previous dentist office...seems that other than writing restaurant reviews, Dentists are my second most. Cut to the chase!!!!....Dr. Chamkasem is great! Very aproachable, and most of all very down to earth. The first thing I did was to explain why I think most Dentists are just trying to squeeze your insurance with unnecessary procedures. 10 stars if I could. I was recommended to come here by a friend and I'm glad I did. Like most have noted, they are very punctual. I literally came in, checked in at the front desk, sat down, checked-in on Yelp, and my name was called. Awesome! Leave your magazine and iPad at home, you won't have time to even pull it out unless you come super early I suppose. As far as the actual check-up and cleaning, they're fantastic. My hygienist, Norma I believe, was very nice and had a fun chat about the economy and cartoons. Dr. C is like no other. Always attentive, he makes sure your comfortable; he really cares for his patients. You guys need to make Dr. C your dentist if you remotely dislike your current one. Some have noted that booking appointments are a bit tough but the trade off is you won't ever get double booked, no more having to wait even though your appointment was for thirty minutes ago, and you'll receive QUALITY service. On a side note, I haven't experienced any booking problems. I will complete a cleaning and two additional dental work visits in the span of two weeks, literally! read more

Dr. C rocks. My dentist of 15 years out of the blue said I needed "deep cleaning" the cost of which was about $1,500, so I decided to seek a second opinion and found Dr. C from Yelp. He looked over my teeth and pointed out that improperly shaped fillings were trapping bacteria in pockets creating deep recessions and bleeding in my gums. He charged a nominal fee to reshape the fillings which were the source of the problem. There was no need to spend $1,500 in the first place and my mouth feels great now. 5++ stars for Dr. C's integrity. Go see him if you are fed up with upselling from your dentists. I am recommending him to everyone now. Oh yes, the staff is extremely friendly and professional. Norma the receptionist is da bomb. As his video ad says, you really are the only patient when you are there. read more

Thank you fellow yelpers, we finally found the best dentist in Tustin! Our first dentist was very unprofessional. We never knew what was billed until our insurance company sent us our EOBs. We then tried another office and the hygienist practically had my daughter clenching her fist and curling her toes as she was getting her teeth cleaned (She's 12 and loves to get her teeth cleaned but not at this office). I decided to schedule an appointment for my husband (the guinea pig) to try out Dr. C due to all the reviews. It's been over 5 years since our family has been with Dr. C. Here are a list of reasons why: 1)We are always seen on time. 2) Dr. C is always straight forward. He'll let me know what is the problem and what are my options. 3) Norma will always let me know what my insurance will pay and what I have to pay. 4) Kim is the best hygienist! I'm totally scared of getting my teeth cleaned. I'm proud to say I no longer need numbing gel to clean my teeth. Yeah!!! The only thing that I can say that is somewhat negative is that they are busy. Decided after seeing my regular dentist that it was time for a 2nd opinion. My regular Dentist gave me a laundry list of things to be done to my teeth including a deep cleaning .. no fun. I found Dr. Chamkasem on Yelp and have to say he is amazing. After an exam and looking at my x rays he found that I needed nothing done that was listed. He suggested a regular cleaning, not a deep cleaning and explained the difference to me. Two seconds later there I was getting my regular cleaning. Dr. Chamkasem is very professional, sweet, knowledgeable and helps you understand what it is you need to do to have healthy teeth. No other Dentist had taken the time before to show me the proper flossing under my bridge. I really can't say enough about this place. When you walk in it smells like lavender, the receptionist is as sweet as can be and his other staff are very nice. I had no waiting time which was new for me, no pain while he was poking around my teeth and I left super happy! Did I mention that they made me custom bleaching trays and gave me free bleach?! ive been seeing dr chamkasem for a few years now. and he and his staff is as good as it gets. most of other dentists/offices were either a cross between car salesman and real estate agent. always trying to sell me on services that i didnt really need or having to set up multiple appointments to just get a cleaning done. when my previous dentists would tell me i needed another crown or possible root canal, dr chamkasam was like, "yo i can just put a filling on it!" he referred me to a specialist first to get some of my gums removed and then i was back at his office with a filling being put in. and to this day -- not a problem. and the specialist he referred me to was great. not to mention i can now show up to my appts empty handed. when i first saw dr chamkasem they didnt take the exact same level of insurance i had. so i had to pay a little out of pocket for my first couple of visits. then one day he was basically like, "yo, your money aint no good here". he explained that he now took my insurance in full so i didnt have to pay anything out of pocket. dude how sweet is that? plus i get free whitening as long as i do my 2 checkups every year. its pretty sweet. and in the 3 years i have been coming here, he has not once tried to upsell any services with me. and when i make an appt for cleaning, it is what it is. i dont have to get a check up first and then come back in a week to see a hygenist for cleaning. norma at the front is great too. with scheduling the appts 6 month in advance and then calling a few days before the scheduled appt. love this place and its people. so glad i found a dentist for life, not just for myself, but for my soon to be family. youre in good hands with dr chamkasam. sit back, lay back, open wide, say "awwww yeahhhh" read more

WHO LEFT THE DENTIST OFFICE SKIPPING, Oh yeah that would be me. Dr. Chamkasem is the best. Not only is he caring he doesn't yell at you for not doing certain things, ie me lazy girl who doesn't feel the need to floss everyday. Only when i remember. I initially called and made an appointment for a cleaning.. I was informed that i would have to wait till November to see the Dr. I wanted to go after work and i'm sure these are the most popular appointment times. This didn't bother me bc my teeth weren't bothering me. One week later, my crown decided to cause me some grief. After pretending it wasn't hurting, i gave in and called the office to see if i could get an appointment earlier. Dr. Chamkasem picked up my call, which surprised me, any who he was nice enough to squeeze me in the next day. PHEW when i walked in the office, Norma his secretary was amazing. Greeted me by name (mind you this was my first visit ever) and i was getting x ray before i knew it. No wait time, they took me right in. Dr. Chamkasem not only found out what was causing my tooth pain, He also educated me on why my tooth was hurting. After he did his magic on my tooth he cleaned my teeth. Dr. C has amazing hands. Not only are they strong but are very steady. My teeth felt clean and i never felt any pain during the cleaning. Oh YAY for free bleach trays! :) Please don't bother going to another dentist. I went to Smile Solutions after not having been to the dentist for around 5 years. I only had three cavities (I say "only" because I was expecting more) and I had no discomfort with the fillings. Dr. Chamkasem and staff are as nice and friendly as can be and explain everything to you, including the procedures and billing info. I was seen on time for all three of my appointments so far. Yeah, three appointments within about a week: initial, fillings, and to pick up the free teeth whitening kit. I'll definitely return to Smile Solutions for my six month check-up! read more

I've always looked to Yelp for helpful reviews but this will be my 1st time writing my own as I feel this office deserves Kudos! This might be long and detailed so brace yourself. (I don't know about you but I like detailed reviews-so no complaining k? ha) I'm looking for a new dentist because the one I had was just awful. They were moving my billing around so when I finally needed a specific work to be done, my ins company wouldn't cover it because I already "had the work done" and I was having to pay out of my pocket. I needed deep cleaning, and I swear, each time I came (they had to work on me in sections) I never got any of the work done and they had to reschedule me back cause they didn't have time or whatever the reasons were. Repeatedly having to take time off work just to be rescheduled was the 1st sign of why I should have never came back. I would find myself waiting to be called in, I'd sit in the chair waiting for someone to work on me and when they did come, they said I'll need to come back because they would rather not rush the work and wanted to take their time on me. REALLY? Isn't that what your appointment book is for? I finally made it in the chair for my 1 hour cleaning on 1 quadrant; my hygienist started late on my appointment and after 35-40 minutes of cleaning, she said I would need to come back so she can finish. You would think she was able to stay to finish since I was the last appointment of the day but nope! Now keep in mind that upper quadrant she was working on was covered 100% by my insurance. So I came back and she finished that area of my mouth, but someone please tell me why they billed me again? It came out of my pocket since the ins company already covered the initial claim. That was the last straw. I figured I needed recommendations for a good dentist and I came to yelp. Dr C's office was running against a couple others in OC that stood out to me but between them all, I noticed Dr. C had 38 reviews with 4-5 stars compared to those with 15-20 reviews w/ 4-5 stars as well. How I came to pick the one? It wasn't the newer office/building or the shorter drive (from RSM) which this one applys to neither and truthfully, I didn't care about the extra bells and whistles since my last dental office had all of that being in RSM. It was the review after review after review that made him stand out over the others! So I called and spoke to Norma, I went in for my 1st consultation a couple of days later. Norma was exactly what everyone described on here. Very helpful, nice and informative..not just another receptionist at the front desk. I knew what to expect as far as the work I needed since I never got any of it done at my old dentist but Dr. C explained it to me in great detail..I felt like I could pass an exam on becoming a dentist/hygienist now that I have a better understanding of it all! Haha I was given my dental plan treatment and was told I needed Arestin. I told Norma I'm not so sure of it due to my financial situation since my ins company doesn't cover it. I was unsure if it's something I really needed or if they were just a repeat of my old dental office. She told me if I can't afford it at $40 per tooth, I should at least have it done on my 6mm pockets and also gave me a brochure on it. I researched on the internet and found a lot of honest answers from Dentists and Hygienist for people with questions about it like me. I found it's not needed on 4mm pockets or less but is recommended on 5-6mm pockets. Reading that and remembering what Norma suggested I do to save money on the Arestin already made me feel like this dental office is out for me and not so much on sell, sell, sell. It was nice. After not going to the dentist for some two years i finally went in to visit Doctor Pishya. Sadly i did have 1 cavity, but it was by far the easiest visit i've ever had. Terrible experience with the dentist and the receptionist both! so work and service both! I needed some work done(fillings, possibly crowns) plus cleaning. Found this dentist on yelp! had cleaning done which wasn't good at all, on the surface! they offer free bleaching, I don't need that! I'm here for good work and if i'm in need for whitening, i'll ask for it and will pay! they charge my out of pocket for a half an hour emergency visit: which I was fitted into their scheduled according to their availability the next day! it took him 7 minutes to adjust a cap which he wasn't very happy to do because the cap was put on by another dentist two years ago!( few months later I fund an excellent dentist that i have been going to and he happily did more adjusting at no charge on my first initial visit). the Doctor was so unhappy that I had asked for him to call me about my tooth once and I was told by him and the receptionist that he was very busy. we got disconnected and when i called back, his receptionist told me with lots of attitude that he was busy!!! they so brag about not ripping you off and doing a job that you don't need. How about recognizing the job that needs to be done and do it right, instead of dime and penning patients over what they call an emergency visit which usually means the same day or after hours! He lost my business as well as my husbands! worst of all was the receptionist Erma I think her name was. OMG she had sooo much attitude! doesn't even fit her job as a receptionist and the office she works at! she keeps repeating things as if you are stupid! very snobbish and very rude! will never go back obviously! read more

I'm way overdue for writing this review! I have a MAJOR fear of the dentist. So bad that I hadn't been to one in over 10 years. But I found myself living with a broken tooth for a few years and knew I needed to get it fixed before it turned into a root canal situation. So I yelped for dentists in the area and found Dr. C. At the time there were only about 5 reviews, but all of them were glowing. I was very nervous my first time in the office because I knew I was going to need a lot of work done and was afraid the whole experience would be very negative. It turned out to be quite a positive experience, despite needing a lot of work done! Dr. C has the best bedside manner that I have ever encountered and made me feel so comfortable. He's gentle, kind, and caring...he once called me the day after a crown to see how I was doing. Who does that?! A deep cleaning, several fillings, and a handful of crowns later, I do not have an ounce of dread in me when I go in to see Dr C and his staff. I don't avoid cleanings anymore. Some appointments are easier than others, but he is very conscious of my anxiety and does everything he can to help make it easier to get through the work. Don't be afraid to tell him if you have a lot of anxiety or discomfort, he'll help you through it! I can never thank Dr. C and his whole staff enough for getting me over my fear of the dentist and helping make my mouth healthier!!! My first repayment is adding this review so that others will hopefully get over their fears and go to Smile Solutions! Take it from someone who has been there. read more
