On Sundays, we are typically don't want to cook dinner and we are lazy to go to a restaurant. We often struggle to choose a cuisine for take out but today it was easy...Thai Food. We ordered from Thai House Restaurant! I was in the mood for some Tom Yum Veggie Soup and Pad See-Iew. We also ordered Hawaiian Chicken and Fried Rice. For starters we had Mee Krob and Fried Vegetarian Won Ton. The Mee Krob is one of my favorites. The sweet and sour sauce mixed with crispy rice noodles topped with fried tofu is really good. And the fried veggie won ton has a perfectly seasoned tofu stuffed inside. The Tom Yum Veggie Soup had that yummy tang that hit the spot. The veggies still had a nice crunch to them. The Pad-See-Iew was sweet but not too sweet. What I really love are the veggies and the smoked / charred taste to them. It's like the wok has years and years of seasoning embedded in it. So good, The Hawaiian chicken was cooked just right. It was not dry and was very juicy and it was great with the fried rice. I've never eaten inside the restaurant as we tend to order on lazy Sundays. Every time I order take out, from here, the food is ready with the time promised. A mom and pop place in Palatine that has space for seating and take out. When you walk in, it's a bit cluttered but can get what you need accomplished (pick up or dine in) We ordered the fresh spring roll, tom yum soup, papaya salad, panang curry, and spicy beef. The spicy beef had more of a basil beef flavor but was not too bad. The spring roll was more dough than filling. Overall, the food was good but nothing to call home about. They were fast with pickup. How should I start this-- this is genuinely a lovely family owned place ran by probably elderly Asians. So there's likely some mistakes here and there, and also possibly some potential less the optimal cleanliness. The price is on the lower side but the quantity is also on the smaller side. However; the flavors were overall pretty good. We had lad nar, rama noodles, and tom kha. The lad nar flavor was good and the roasted garlic was good. Beef was a bit tough but it's ok. The Rama noodles were made of pasta noodles, which was surprising, but the sauce was really good. The tomkha initially was not sour enough, but that's cuz the coconut cream/milk was on top so after I mixed it a bit it's actually really good, it's not as liquid as other places but I almost prefer this more rich and creamy version. The spring roll was a bit of a disappointment, things were falling apart and didn't have much flavor, sauce was a bit too sour and the veggies didn't seem too fresh. But the satay was fine it was fried well but just a bit dry for the kids to eat. The peanut sauces were all really good. The pickled veggies were not bad either, a bit light at the beginning but good after a while. We got the chicken pad Thai, Mongolian beef, pineapple rice, and appetizer for two - everything was delicious and portions sizes were great! The owner was answering phones for carry out orders, waiting tables, bussing tables and on occasion we saw her on the line cooking too keep up with carry out orders. When we walked in the restaurant had just been hit with a rush and every single table had dirty dishes on it. Asked for it extra extra spicy and they delivered! Very authentic and so much flavor packed into one bowl. I can't speak on the ambiance or the service but if you want an EXTREMELY tasty meal then go here and honestly who gives a shit about the rest. If the food is good go there, they aren't expensive by any means and the portion sizes are very good. Also got the egg rolls and my 6 year old, who is the pickiest eater ever, mowed down 3 of them in no time. What an amazing Thai joint hiding out on Dundee rd! I didnt have high hopes.... we xame here because our first choice was too busy. However, we were blown away by an excellent Thai meal. Chicken satay was moist and tender with a yummy sauce. Basil chicken was interesting with ground chicken but most importantly the basil flavor was strong and delicious. I've been ordering from Thai house for over a year without issues, however last night they completely dropped the ball and I will no longer be ordering from them. I specified on my grubhub order that I'm allergic to eggs and fish sauce and to leave it off my pad Thai order. I tried calling multiple times to confirm it but they didn't answer the phone in a 20 minute time frame. My pad Thai arrived with huge chunks of egg in it and my tofu satay wasn't fully cooked - cold and soggy. I clearly noted that these are food allergies and the restaurant didn't take that seriously.
