It is a classic steakhouse and always delivers. The dining room seems old school and designed for business, anniversary or special events. The super star of the restaurant is steak, which is expertly cooked. The other entrees are top notch h too, eg fish, short ribs, etc. The sides are classic and satisfying. The portion is generous. The service is polished, professional and attentive throughout. It is not about trendy or novelty but tradition and consistency. The price is high but you know what you are paying for. We enjoyed our dinner at Smith & Wollensky. It remains a solid and classic choice for us.

Smith & Wollensky in Burlington makes a bold first impression. The two‐story steakhouse occupies an expansive, well‐designed space along Middlesex Turnpike. You can choose between plush leather banquette seating, cozy booths, or more open tables -- and there are indoor‑outdoor bars and patios on both levels when weather allows. Decor is elegant without being overly stuffy: wide‐plank oak floors, rich dark woods, green & white signature tiling, custom brass fixtures, and a green quartzite bar top. The lighting strikes a balance -- warm, dim enough for a relaxed evening, but well enough lit to see menus and appreciate the interior design. Patio seating adds a relaxed vibe, especially during Dine Out when earlier dinners are happening. Overall, it feels upscale, festive and suited for special occasions. For Dine Out Boston, their set menu delivers much of what you'd expect from a full‑priced meal here. The offerings include signature starters, high‐quality steaks, seafood, and thoughtfully prepared sides. A few highlights that often stand out in regular service (and seem to carry over into special menus): The steaks are USDA Prime, many dry‑aged, with solid reputations for flavor and execution. Side dishes are usually generous, though in some reviews people mention variability: some sides are stellar, others more pedestrian. For the Dine Out menu in particular, the value is pretty good: you get multiple courses at a price that's less than ordering à la carte but still in line with the restaurant's standards. Service at the Burlington location comes through more often than not. Many diners during Dine Out mention good attentiveness -- servers are well informed, seem to understand the flow of a prix fixe menu, and are generally courteous. During Dine Out, that risk seems present but manageable -- if you go with patience and don't expect the full breadth of their regular menu, the service tends to meet expectations. Smith & Wollensky Burlington performs strongly for Dine Out Boston. If you're looking to celebrate or treat yourself, this is a solid pick: great setting, flavors, and steakhouse pedigree. If I had to pick what to watch out for: Go early in the Dine Out period or early in the meal to avoid running out of menu selections. Be prepared for higher noise and slower service when the restaurant is packed. The prix fixe menu is a good deal if you're okay with limited options vs the full regular menu.

Rib eye, medium. Quality cut of meat.

Although there were no tables free, the bar had many chairs available around 5pm on a Saturday. SERVICE: The bartender (Cameron?) is friendly and attentive. Water glasses topped off. BAR: comfy seats. Cosmo was perfect in an adult size martini glass. Wine was an average pour. FOOD: truffle fries were crispy and solid truffle flavor. Although my preference is for shoestring, these were slightly thicker but just as tasty. The ribeye, medium, was a bit more towards medium/rare. Tasty, good, quality cut. ATMOSPHERE: Classy and clean. The open air doors in the bar area are a nice touch.

This is supposed to be Angry Shrimp, completely overcooked.

My husband I loved S&W, we used to frequent often in Boston, we loved it so much that I actually got engaged there. Fast forward 20 years, we now have one closer in Burlington and I was so excited. The atmosphere is great, it's a nice bar, the bar tenders seem great, but the quality is not what it used to be. On our first experience when they first opened we got the crabcake because that was what I used to love. It was terrible. It was like having Thanksgiving stuffing with a couple of pieces of crab in it. It was so dry and so cakey we had to send it back. But we did discover that we loved was the carpaccio, although when I ordered this, I do ask for extra toppings on it because I feel like there's not enough but overall, it is very good. Friday night we went there for appetizers and drinks and we ordered the carpaccio with extra toppings and the angry shrimp. The carpaccio came out and it was definitely no extra toppings on it. In fact, I felt that because I ordered extra toppings they put minimal toppings, which is very strange, but I just dealt with it. The angry shrimp came out and I would've thought that I was at Kentucky fried chicken and they hadn't changed their oil in weeks. It was dark, basically one stage before being burned, and there were four shrimp. Dry and dehydrated and completely overcooked. The bartender was ok about and said it may have looked a little darker than normal , he got us another one and when that one came out, it looked better, but now there were only 3, as if we ate 1 and enjoyed it and then sent it back - not the case. When we went to go eat the second round of the shrimp had its shell still on it under the batter, we were both pulling shells out of our mouth at the bar, it was gross. We did tell the other bar tender and she apologized and took it off the bill. I just don't understand for the price people pay for this food, why the kitchen can't get it right. The shrimp should never have left the kitchen that way, and as a customer we should not have had to complain about it twice. We love going out and frequent local restaurants like Moo, and Eddie V's and we never run into this. I really wish that S&W had the same quality it used to have, it was a place we used to love, but after this experience we most likely won't be going back.

This restaurant had a lighter, airier feel to it than the one at Seaport, so seemed more casual and less staid than your traditional steakhouse. Food was great as usual- melt in your mouth NY strip steak, heftily-sized truffle burger, crab cake app were all very satisfying. Service was attentive.

Coconut Creme Cake - surprisingly light texture with the most heavenly coconut flavor. Amazing!

Wow. I could sum up lunch in just one word, but just so I can review in my mind the terrific meal, I will detail it for you: weekday lunch and our server - Kerri O. -was terrific. On a return visit I would definitely ask to be in her section! I had the Steak Tips au Poivre, there was not a single bit of food left on my plate. The sauce was PERFECT, and while I was totally stuffed from that as well as several servings on the amazing bread, I felt I should look at the dessert menu. As soon as I saw the Coconut Creme Cake listed, I knew that was what I wanted... and it did not disappoint. If you love coconut, order it. Order it and don't eat anything else if you must, but Holy Coconut that cake was amazing. I brought most of it home (in a great doggy bag that said "lucky dog"!) and despite being stuffed I ate a little more before bed and put the rest in the freezer. It was gone by lunch the following day. One of the managers came by our table, her name may have been Kaij (Kay?). I told her how much I loved the bright and airy atmosphere (not at all like the typical dark steakhouses we all know) and she detailed the design as well as told us about the function rooms upstairs. The ladies room was immaculate (that is always important!), the host was nice and the bar looked like a good area to relax. Spectacular 10/10 meal, I definitely look forward to a return visit!!

Table-sized potatoes. Enough for two if you're lucky.
    Jim S.

Smith and Wollensky is a very good restaurant that we have visited before but there were a few disappointments. I think the main one was that steakhouses typically have shareable sides and we were advised by the server that that was the case. Unfortunately, the mashed potatoes did not come in a big dish a la Capital Grille but in a small cup. The point is not that they are not good - they are. But there is hardly enough there for more than two people to share. (You can Google any of this.) Ditto the truffle fries. The "shareable" size was more like a size you'd get at Johnny Rocket's. The point being that if I'm told the sides are shareable and you're charging 14 or 15 bucks, they need to be shareable. Everyone at our table took small portions when we expected a bigger size. This is a disappointment especially when places like Capital Grille serve large AND delicious portions. This is something to take into consideration before we decide to go back there. Oh, and my wife said the truffle fries at Yard House are better. So, very good overall. And if they go back to actual shareable sides, I'll come back again and hope to give it a great review.

Great soft opening at the Burlington location tonight! The staff were all incredibly helpful and friendly. Drink and food orders were taken promptly, and even better were paced perfectly so we were able to enjoy our appetizer, drinks, and conversation before entrees arrived. Steak was cooked perfectly and the truffled Mac and cheese is a delicious side dish to share. Though I skipped dessert tonight, it'll definitely be on the list for the next time I visit. The bar area is spacious with comfy seats. There are two floors with an elevator by the main entrance as well as stairs leading to the second floor. What i particularly like about this location is that the restaurant space and the bar area are both brightly lit. They did a very nice job with the inside - lots of nice classic touches.

Swinging tomahawk with an awesome presentation.
    Addie M.

We had : Caesar salad, swinging tomahawk, filet and lobster tail duo, asparagus and our kids had the steak tips with French fries. The complimentary amuse bouche, which was some thing pickled, burrata and basil on crostini was something I craved more of! It was so good! Our server [ Aaron ]was top notch and we were gifted the pleasure of meeting Steve, the general manager. He had the gift of gab and made us feel incredibly welcomed. The swinging tomahawk melts in your mouth and the lobster tail was bursting with flavor. The cappuccino was one of the best I've had in a while and the chocolate cake was to die for. We *did * have a temperature issue on the steak but the staff worked diligently to address and fixed without hesitation. We'll be back

CLASSIC CAESAR SALAD (added shrimp) Romaine hearts, garlic croutons, shaved Romano, and creamy Caesar dressing. Then we waited. About 10-15 minutes later, our waitress stopped by to ask if we needed anything. We were fine. Another 15 minutes passed, and she checked on us again. About 10 minutes later, she stopped by once more and said she was going to check with the kitchen. The restaurant was only about half full, with plenty of open tables. We had ordered two salads--it doesn't get much simpler than that. Finally, about 45 minutes after we arrived, our lunches made their way to the table. My Classic Caesar Salad was overdressed, and the shrimp, while acceptable, was a bit dry. I didn't try the Thai Peanut Salad. Ironically, this was one of the few times I would have preferred eating at the Legal Sea Foods in Logan Airport, where they somehow manage to get good food to your table much more promptly. I doubt I'll return to this location. One tip: parking in the lot directly in front of Legal Sea Foods is very tight. I parked in the former Lord & Taylor lot around the corner, which was only a few minutes' walk away.

I made a reservation for a Saturday night at 7:00 for two. Note: I originally went to make the reservation online from their website but the availability was not good, so I called instead. Online it pretty much looked booked between 4:30 and 8:00 - I called and was able to get 7:00 without hesitation. So, make note to call if you don't see the time or range listed online. We were greeted as we entered and checked in with the host/hostess. They were friendly and polite and told us it would just be a few minutes. They brought us back to our table and had us seated shortly there after. Our waitress was great; she told us about the specials, checked in on us, and made sure everything was as expected. We ordered some bevs that were very tasty and had great presentations. Speaking of presentation, let's get on to the food. We ordered the Tomahawk, which if you don't know, is a MASSIVE piece of meat. It's a steak meant to serve two people - in reality, it serves way more than two. The presentation of the tomahawk steak plate alone was beautiful! It had a whole bunch of stuff (see pic). They bring it out for you to see, and then they take it back to the kitchen to slice. We ordered medium rare, and probably should have gone more medium but it was not too rare so it was fine. Now, at The Bancroft, it is an à la carte style meal, meaning you order sides separately and usually a few for the table. We had the carrots (one of the specials), roasted potatoes, and creamed spinach. Forgot to say when you order meat, you also get to pick two sauces - and before anything while you wait they bring you some rolls and butter. The rolls started us off on the right foot knowing the meal was going to be phenomenal. They were warm with some sea salt on top and baked to perfection. The steak was mouth watering, juicy, and flavorful. The sauces added a great touch, and the sides were wonderful. It is safe to say, we did not leave hungry! As mentioned, while tomahawk is said to serve two, we had a lot of leftovers so of course we got those packed up to go. They were very considerate with the packaging, putting items in different boxes that made sense. We unfortunately did not have room for dessert but I'm sure it would've been awesome. The Bancroft is definitely a higher scale restaurant so it is on the pricer side, but it is justified. The food tastes great, presentation is there, and service is excellent. It's a great place for special occasions, celebrations, or just because as long as you know what to expect... but with prices today, I'd rather pay this and have it be worth it than what a crappy meal is costing today!

Shrimp Summer Rolls ($9.25) and C11. Grilled Pork Vermicelli ($17.25) to go and was given a pager. Though it was a busy Saturday afternoon, food was ready in about 10 minutes. Everything was packed in its own container. The shrimp summer rolls were wrapped in plastic food wrap and a container of peanut sauce complimented it. The summer rolls were packed with lettuce and had good taste. The grilled pork vermicelli was very filling. The vermicelli noodles were topped with grilled pork, lettuce, cucumber, sweet daikon radish and carrots, mint, fried onions, and peanuts. A container of house fish sauce was on the side. The grilled pork had good flavor, but it was cut into tiny strips and some were burnt. I wish it had more grilled pork. There was a lot of lettuce, but everything especially with the fish sauce on top, was tasty and delectable. Pho Ever Chicken is a great option in the food court. I am interested in trying their pho next time.
