We used to go to Tuscan all the time and so were pretty familiar with it. It was also a good, maybe not great restaurant. But we liked it. I would say that Sorella is a step up in ambiance (bar in front, nice feel) but still good, not great. We went on a Saturday night and you'll want reservations. Pros - bread is good but it's that hard crusty stuff if you like that. We also had some nice smooth house Chianti and the calamari appetizer (we are junkies for it) was plentiful and Rhode Island style. All very good. I ordered the Rigatoni Alla Vodka. Big plate, small portion but that's typical of Northern Italina. It was good but not particularly flavorful. The menu said it had chili pepper flake, I could taste none. My wife had the Bolognese, a dish by which she measures all Italian restaurants. Good, but nothing special. We both felt the dishes needed salt and if pasta needs salt, you're in trouble. This still seems like a restaurant catering to suburban tastes as opposed to vibrant flavors. If you're looking for the North End, go to the North End. We skipped dessert and I got a good cup of cappuccino. Pre-tip price -a reasonable $129. Would we go back? Yes, we both agreed we like the place and mostly everything was really good. There's plenty on the menu to try and if we find the right things, we could be (semi) regulars there. Side note - I used to sometimes get the Tomahawk steak there, but they jacked the price up (maybe doubled it) to $150. I'm not sure what justifies that as the price of meat didn't go up that much. Stopped by on a Sat afternoon. It was pretty quiet- the location attracts a weekday lunch crowd due to location. They had several large groups/parties (shower). The Carozza (mozzarella) was excellent- served with 3 types of pesto. My insalata mista was very good- added steak tips. Cooked perfectly. The crusty bread with oil was appreciated. We went with a large group on a Monday night. The restaurant itself is nicely re-modeled after taking over from Tuscan Kitchen. We ordered mostly appetizers and a few main courses to share. Our waitress was really nice and attentive to our group. I will share most of the food was just okay - especially the pesto fusilli which was heavy on the oil. The Tagliatelle Al Tartufo was nothing special besides the truffle but was lacking overall flavor. The cheese and meat platter was a hit and fennel & citrus salad. It wasn't an amazing experience but not a bad one either. I would recommend management to take the time to work on elevating the pasta dishes to the next level. read more

visited this restaurant today and had a very disappointing experience. After ordering, we waited about 40 minutes for our food, and even the cocktails took a very long time to arrive. When the food finally came out, both the pizza and steak were completely cold. I honestly could not understand how the food could be served that cold unless it had been sitting out for a long time before being brought to our table. The restaurant was not even very busy, yet it took an unusually long time for the server to come take our order. The server was also very unfriendly throughout the visit, which made the experience even worse. On top of that, the food itself did not taste good at all. My second drink came after I was done with my meal and never brought our side dish. The food was good but service was horrible. The problem was their waiter. Overall good experience at Sorella, the decor is fun and upscale, bright, lively, ambience. Service was good and food was tasty, complementary bread service was really lovely and fun touch they bring around a giant wheel of parmesan and offer a complementary serving of that with a nice aged balsamic. Price point is much too high though for what is offered, more expensive than other higher end local steak and seafood restaurants. It was an enjoyable evening, but probably would only return for cocktails and appetizers given cost relative to other nearby options. read more

They now tell their bartenders to measure the amount of liquor in your drink. That tells you all you need to know... And they raised the prices a LOT, so we patrons are paying for the renovations, and the food is no better. Granted that the restaurant needed a refresh, but they could have done less with the building and worked more on menu. Atmosphere: The restaurant is very large, with a bar in the front and restaurant seating in the back. While it looked pretty, the host stand by the front entrance was unattended, so our party had to walk a considerable distance to find staff. Once seated, however, my party and I found the environment to be well lit and not too loud. Additionally, our table was long and comfortably sat our party of 8. Service: We ordered everything at once and the pacing was perfect, entrées, followed shortly after by appetizers.Our waitress was friendly and accommodating to various dietary restrictions. However, when a member of our party knocked a glass of water over, multiple servers noticed the spill but did not offer help or even additional napkins for 10+ minutes until one stepped up. Additionally, the servers did not refill waters for 40+ minutes (practically until we were about to get the check) or even at least provide a pitcher. Food: The first thing I noticed was the price. Practically all of the main dishes were $30+ and nearly all featured meat, primarily seafood and beef. This set up my expectations pretty high, and I was quickly disappointed. Truffle Fries (6.5/10): Pros - Golden-brown, not too crispy or soft. Cons - Truffle flavor nonexistent, severely over-salted. Fried Brussels Sprouts with Calabrian Chili & Parmigiano (7/10): Pros - Brussel sprouts were perfectly cooked, sauce was delicious and flavorful. Approved by even a Brussel sprout hater. Cons - Over-salted, A bit too saucy for my taste, goes soggy and cold if not eaten quickly. Quattro Formaggi (1/10): Pros - None, this was by far the worst thing I ordered. Cons - 6 relatively small pieces of ravioli which arrived in a large, unappetizing pool of butter and as a result was extremely greasy. The sides of the ravioli were strangely tough and chewy, while the filling both tasted and looked to only have ricotta, contrary to the 'four cheeses' the name promised. In general, the portion size was minuscule for a main course and the taste was gross. A horrible waste of money and ruined my appetite. Rigatoni Alla Vodka (2/10): Pros - Large portion size, baffling considering it was $1 cheaper than the Quattro Formaggi. Cons - Sauce was 90% cream, both tomato and vodka flavors were nonexistent. Brick Chicken (8/10): Pros - The saving grace of this meal. Chicken skin was gorgeously crispy, squash was perfectly cooked and to die for (10/10), broccolini was huge and delicious, and the portion size was generous. Cons - Other than its skin, the inside of the chicken was very bland and a bit overcooked. Also the broccolini could have had more lemon. Cacio E Pepe E Parma Pizza (5/10): Pros - Kitchen was able to modify it and make it vegetarian by removing the prosciutto. Cheesy and tasty. Cons - Extremely greasy, covered in a puddle of oil/butter and over-salted, an apparent common denominator in this restaurant. Margherita Pizza (7/10): Pros: Classic flavor, nothing special. Cons: Sauce was a bit bland. Fennel and Citrus Salad (6/10): Pros: Greens and fruit were fresh, modified it to be nut-free by removing pistachios. Cons: Salad dressing was bland (more oil than any lemon, herbs or vinegar), chunks of grapefruit and orange were far and few between, and cut laughably small. Final Thoughts: The big-ticket meat dishes are by far the best, would not recommend for those who can't eat beef, pork or are trying to save money by ordering pastas or pizzas. read more

I recently dined at Sorella Burlington for a birthday celebration, and overall, the dining experience itself was very enjoyable. The food was excellent--we ordered a variety of appetizers, entrées, and desserts, and everything was well-prepared and flavorful. Our server was also kind, attentive, and professional, which made the evening even more pleasant. But what happened afterward completely changed my impression. I accidentally left behind a pair of sunglasses at our table by the window. These weren't just any sunglasses--they were worth over $400 and, more importantly, they were a graduation gift from my father who is working abroad for many years. They carry deep sentimental value, and losing them is not something I can easily replace or move on from. I returned to the restaurant the next day around 1pm to retrieve it, at a time when the restaurant was nearly empty. Despite this, the manager informed me that they had not seen the item and was not willing to offer meaningful assistance. When I asked about checking security footage, I was told that while cameras exist, they could not be reviewed or shared, and that the situation was essentially not their responsibility. Given that we were among the last guests of the evening (leaving around 8pm, with closing at 9pm) and the restaurant was quiet the following day, it was surprising and frustrating that there was no effort made to help investigate or resolve the situation. We spent over $200 on our meal and each tipped 20%, and I would have expected a restaurant of this caliber to demonstrate a higher level of care and customer service--especially when it comes to helping guests recover valuable personal belongings. While the food and service during the meal were great, the lack of support afterward left a lasting negative impression. read more

Went to the restaurant with a party of six. Atmosphere was nice. However, arrived at 7:45pm did not get cocktails until 8:20pm. Service was terrible. Drinks ultimately came out at all different times so not everyone had their drink at the same time. Waitress was slower than molasses. Finally took our food order. Food for everyone was mediocre at best. Came time for the bill and 4 desserts were added on that we never totalling $60. Paid and ran out the door never to return again.
