Absolutely the WORST customer service! I have bought numerous appliances from Smithtown Appliance over the years and have found the service to continue to significantly decline particularly in the past 5 years. I used them one last time, hoping they perhaps would have improved as I know they have gotten many poor reviews. NOPE, what I found was the staff were rude, unprofessional, actually lied about intention to help me and completely not helpful. I had a dryer delivered 2 weeks ago. I was not home during the delivery. When I got home I noted significant dirt tracked in by the delivery men, dirt marks all over my expensive carpeting that would have to be professionally cleaned. I also noticed where the men literally dragged the very heavy machine up the carpeted stairway, leaving drag marks at the edge of each step. I immediately called the store and spoke with MARK. I explained the situation and Mark assured me that he would have the delivery company that they contract with call me the next day and they would take care of any damaged cause. Several days went by and I heard nothing. I subsequently called MARK 4 SEPARATE TIMES leaving a detailed message each time, with no call back. Extremely unprofessional and disappointing. Bottom line, look at the numerous poor reviews on Smithtown Appliance, they are true!!! Do not use this company if you expect good, reliable, professional service. Had to call for months to get 2 air conditioners delivered and installed. I visited store in June...It's now the end of August 2025!. They were installed by JSA installers, a very professional, fair, and friendly two gentlemen. I'm still waiting for the bill for the 2 air conditioners. Short: Avoid them at all costs. They are rude, disrespectful and dishonest. I used to buy all appliances from them, but never again. Long: I ordered an oven on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving because my oven broke. Awful timing, but good for sales for a new one! I was originally told the appliance was in stock and I would have it by Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. I called on Black Friday, and was told the oven was in storage, and would need to be transferred to the store, but I would get it by December 10th the latest. I didn't hear from Smithtown appliance by December 10th so I called and spoke to Vito (junior). He told me he would need to call the distributor because he didn't know why this order was taking so long. Vito called me back and told me the oven wouldn't be available until Jan 15th! I told him I was told the oven was in stock, but just waiting for a transfer. I was angry because I could have ordered the oven from 2 other retailers on Black Friday and had the oven sooner. Vito started to laugh at me, literally laugh, and said good luck finding the oven from someone else because the manufacturer doesn't have it in stock. I asked him why he thought it was funny that I waited 2 weeks for an oven, to only find out they didn't have it. He laughed again and said, it wasn't funny that the oven is not in stock, but it is funny that I thought I could get it from someone else. He said he couldn't get it for me, and no matter how many phone calls I make now, no one will be able to help me. I called one store in Huntington, who had the oven, and delivery is now in Itwo days. I called Vito back, who was not only rude again, but spoke over me and hung up the phone on me. I was not yelling at him, but simply called to tell him I wanted to cancel my order. When in to buy a specific model number Dishwasher that was on sale. That model was being displayed on the showroom floor. The salesman wrote up the sales slip for it to be delivered. When, I sat in my car outside the store, I looked at the Bill of sale, it had a different model number on it. So, I went back inside told him it had the wrong number on it, that is when he told me it is the same thing as the one on sale. When I told to put on the right model number, he told me it could not be done. So, I just cancelled the whole thing. Buyer beware!!! read more

I'm going to replace my electric stove to a GE dual fuel unit waiting for the stove to get to the store this week. Brandon recommended a plumber to run a gas line into the kitchen. Clown show! Years ago, this was the best appliance store on Long Island. Sadly, those days are gone. It took literally 3 months to get an estimate for a cooktop and island hood replacement. THREE MONTHS. In the end the quote was so high even the salesman said "this is embarrasing". In fact, his acceptance of their poor state is the only thing good I can now say about the place. I have read prior posts saying that Smithtown Appliance was overpriced- that is not the experience that I had! I found them to be very reasonable, is not below market price. With that said the big advantage is the service. I recently bought both a dishwasher and a fridge from Smithtown Appliance after pulling my hair out at the big box store, and I am not going to waste my time at the big box store anymore. At the big box store you have to wait for a representative. If they are not around they will page them, and maybe in about 10 minutes you will get a rep that is so disinterested in helping you that it can be insulting. If you buy, the box store doesn't have it in stock. We went to Smithtown appliance right way, tell them what we want, and they look up all the prices for the same unit through the big box stores and will match or lower. I purchased a custom refrigerator in August 2020. With 6 months, I had multiple issues with the unit (ice maker doesn't shut off and door makes loud noise when opening). I called for service, Wind Factory Service came and have been waiting for nearly 2 years for a repair. I sent multiple emails to Smithtown Appliance and all I get is a run around. To pay so much for an appliance and receive such service is horrible. Wouldn't recommend this store to anyone read more

All the "great" reviews have to do with the buying experience. Once you have bought an appliance you are totally on your own if the appliance is defective. I thought they were blowing me off because of my age but reading reviews both on here and Facebook I could see it was a pattern. I called the day it was installed that it was defective. I was told that Whirlpool would contact me. I waited a week and was told that they would check into it and call me back. Again no one called. I am now sitting with a brand new defective dishwasher and I don't know what to do. I wish I knew the magic word to get Smithtown Appliance's attention. Also a bit of shady business during the buying session. My husband wanted the silver rack in the door. The salesman said they had only two models with that feature, one $900+ and one $400+. I wanted the fancy one. When it was installed it wasn't the dishwasher we thought we bought. I looked at the receipt and the model the salesman wrote down was the machine we got. So without telling us he switched machines on the receipt. When I went down the next day because the dishwasher wasn't working I noticed that the one I thought we had bought was not on the floor. The salesman looked....He couldn't explain what happened.....Yeah!. Right! I don't know what has happened to this store! This used to be our go to store for appliances although when I look back I can see signs that it was going downhill. And so here I am, with a brand new dishwasher that is defective, with the Sound of Silence coming from Smithtown Appliance. read more

It's a shame as they are all very nice and knowledgeable here, but you just can't beat prices from the big guys like Appliance World or PC Richard's or even Amazon. The store has a little bit of each brand so its good to check out. And the employees will give you some good advice and fair quotes. BUYER BEWARE!!!! Jekyll and Hyde own this store. All friendly and smiles till your purchase has gone through. Then, your on your own. ZERO customer service, rude arrogant. Owner Vito says he "has busted his butt, doesn't like phone calls like mine, has been in business 33 yrs" and hung up phone. Meanwhile -I have had to stay home 3 separate full days for service on a range hood that has never worked since the day installed. After 34K in Thermador purchases it is still miss wired. I've had to call dozens of times and am now dealing with Thermador Corporate to get a service call. My appliances have not been registered with Themador, my receipt has model numbers cut off and they want to charge me a service call when I haven't used one item yet! read more

Shop local! Shop local! Personal service! No pressure. Do your homework. They tell you how to measure your old appliance, before you shop for a new one. We spoke with Vito (the owner). We brought in the printout from other stores, Smithtown Appliance gave us a lower price. They arrange the delivery, installation, take back the old appliance. 2 weeks later, Keith! Wonderful! Funny! Personable, said that he's been doing this work over 20 years. He said that he used to live a few blocks from our neighborhood. Please avoid shopping from this store. We purchased a washing machine from them in December that did not work straight out of the box. They would not accept the return until I contacted the manufacturer. After more than two months dealing with the bad customer service at Danby, I was able to get a return authorization. I contacted the store and they refuse to refund the money. They do not call anyone back and refuse to speak to me because my name is not on the receipt. I live with my boyfriend. He would have been there to return the machine with me. However, the owners hide behind their employees and do not want to deal directly with their unsatisfied customers. In addition, nowhere on the receipt we have does it say that there are no refunds. I do not want a replacement, store credit, or someone to service a machine that was new out of the box. Their lack of customer service does not engender in me the confidence to do further business with them. Buyer Beware! After shopping around online for the appliances I wanted for our kitchen renovation, I had difficulty finding all the models I wanted in one place that I trusted. Then I decided to go back to the place where we had bought our appliances 22 years ago -- Smithtown Appliance. I checked their website - which as easy to navigate, called them up, gave them the model numbers and they were able to get me everything I asked for. There was a little misinformation from one salesman about the finish on the appliances but I went on the manufacturer's website to clarify the issue. The owner, Vito, crunched numbers and sought out rebates for us. All this and I never even had to go into the store - yay! We got better prices, professional advice and on-time delivery. I ordered a Weber grill and was told delivery will be on Wednesday. When Wednesday arrived after taking the day off, I called and was told "I was not on their delivery list". No sorry, no maybe we can do some thing else. I had to return to the store to get my refund. When I arrived all the employees had their heads down....no sorry we made a mistake...NOTHING !!
