While visiting Santana Row, we came across this ice cream spot that was very popular. It was a side road that was behind the main road in between the parking garages. I'm always down to try a new ice cream places, and this place did not disappoint. We just went with a couple of cups of ice cream and they were very delicious.
I forgot to take a picture of my hot cocoa and ice cream but I will say there was a group of guys who asked if they could try the ice cream and the cashier gave them ice cream but when I asked if I could try one flavor he said that wasn't possible since the ice cream gets made when you order... I was pretty confused since I saw him give some to the group of guys who did not order anything in the end. I'm not sure if they were his friend but I just find it rude to not allow people to try something when you do it in front of others. The hot chocolate is also too strong I did not enjoy it but if you're a fan of dark chocolate it may be to your liking! The peppermint chip ice cream was pretty delicious and thick.
Kind of underwhelming thai tea ice cream with barely any thai tea flavor. I could also taste the sugar chunks in some bites. Texture of the ice cream is like any other ice cream spot so it definitely did not stand out. Also, the double and triple scoop options here only allow one flavor, which I think is weird and unnecessary. Seems like they are just trying to profit more by making you pay for two single scoops if you want two flavors for $6.75 each, rather than get a double with two flavors for $8.50. This is a tiny ice cream shop at the lawn in santana row. Great spot to grab an ice cream and sit down and chat. Service was fast and efficient even though there was quite a long line near closing.
The made-to-order ice cream came out after only about 3 minutes (even with two people in front of me). The cookie dough with pretzels and chocolate chips is amazing! The base is a malted brown sugar ice cream so some nice depth of flavor. The pieces aren't huge so the ice cream looks smooth at first glance but it's packed with stuff in every bite. I sat in the shade but it was 83 F out and even after 10 minutes it only melted a little, not like total soup. Would definitely return to try the other flavors!

Came on a Saturday it was super busy. I ordered the cookie dough and pretzel ice cream with chocolate drizzle. Probably the creamy ice ice cream. I've had it. It's a good balance of sweet and salty. It was a great way to end the day. Great outdoor seating and lots of grass areas for kids to play. Very kid friendly. Overall, the vibe was very nice .

I've been craving ice cream all day, so how perfect was this?! Smitten had a location right next to where I worked in the Marina Cow Hollow, but sadly they closed. I've missed their delicious and fresh ultra smooth ice cream and sweet waffle cones (and I'm not even a cone person)! Their cones are like no other! Very thin and just the right amount of sweetness- I like to crush my waffle bowl into my ice cream. I chose two scoops of salted caramel in a waffle bowl, and my two children chose strawberry cream in a waffle cone. Once the snow began, it was over. I couldn't even focus on the snow because Smitten stole allll of my attention! I highly recommend smitten for all of you ice cream lovers out there!

This is a fantastic spot for a quick and satisfying treat. They make their ice cream with liquid nitrogen so the ice cream is so creamy! Their menu offers some creative and seasonal flavors. We opted for the coffee with cream and sugar flavor which had a great balance of rich coffee taste and a slight crunch to it. If you're in Santana Row, make sure to treat yourself after a meal or shopping! There might be a line but it goes by fairly quickly and the ice cream comes out quickly too. You can park in a nearby parking garage for easy parking!
We were in the mood for ice cream and swung by Smitten today! I ordered a scoop of the matcha ice cream and my partner got a scoop of the vanilla. Both were really good! Our favorite was the vanilla. Definitely swing by here if you're craving something sweet or need a little treat to cool you off on a hot day!

There were lots of cookie dough chunks and the base ice cream was packed with good flavor that was more interesting than just vanilla but not distracting from the tasty cookie dough and salty pretzel bits. Fresh ice cream and crispy waffle bowl combo Had ice cream with a waffle bowl and it was such a satisfying treat. The ice cream tasted super fresh and creamy with a really smooth texture. After having lunch we stopped by smitten ice cream for a sweet treat. It was really nice and sunny out. A perfect day for an ice cream. They are located out front in a stand alone building in front of Urban Plates and the veggie grill at Santana Row. They only having outdoor seating. You walk up to the window and place your order and pick it up from another window when it is ready. We went up to the front order window to place our order. The young lady helping us was so nice. My husband ordered the cozy chai, in a cup. I ordered the strawberry cream, in a cup. They call your name out when your order is ready. You can also watch them make your ice cream. Each order is made to order. I'd say it took about 5 minutes for our order. We found a place to sit outside next to the ice scream stand. My husband really likes his cozy chai. My strawberry cream, oddly, tasted salty. I had my husband try it, and he agreed. So I went back to the order window to let the employee know something was wrong with my ice cream. She apologized and let me order something else. I decided on the chocolate ganache. She made it fast, for me. I tried it and it was delicious. Not sure what happened to the strawberry but I do appreciate them letting me try something else. read more

Really cute little ice cream shop! Neat location right on the lawn where they sometimes have live music so that's awesome! I got the brookies n cream flavor and it was great! I love all the chunks and texture in it and the base itself was very creamy. Give this place a try! read more

smitten does classic flavors right! smaller menu, everything is made to order (hydrogen). it's THICK, u can tell the cream is high quality and they're not skimping u with high water to cream ratio. they have vegan options too but u rly taste the dairy and the chocolate/vanilla is very fragrant!! i wouldn't get the chocolate crispies topping bc it reminds me of stale cereal stuck together. ALWYA GET A WAFFLE BOWL. i always get the choc chip cookie dough flavor, the pretzel isn't stale! the cookie dough is mini. staff is patient, accept card + cash, giving recs even when its busy. line is usually a 10min wait to order on weekend nights. read more
Came to Smitten at around 7:15pm on a Friday after having browsed through Santana Row. I parked in garage parking by the entrance of Santana Row and walked over. There was a line of around 5 people in front of me. Since I came the day after Halloween, there were many autumn flavors, which I always find to be cute. I ordered the earl grey with chocolate chips -- a unique flavor I rarely see. I will note that Smittens' order window and pickup window are separate from one another, so you can't really sample flavors. Regardless, I ordered with ease and waited around 5 minutes for my ice cream to be ready. I will say that they give you a pretty generous portion for one scoop -- definitely very filling. To my surprise, my scoop did taste like earl grey, and I love how the chocolate chips gave such a crunchy texture to the ice cream (not mention, very generous amount of chocolate chips). Halfway through my scoop, I felt that the chocolate chips had started to overpower the earl grey flavor, and it would've been better if the earl grey flavor was slightly stronger. Overall though, I enjoyed my time at Smittens: great experience and unique flavors at a convenient location. Looking forward to being back! read more
First time coming here. Ice cream was great. Freshly made right in front of you. Perfect consistency with the ice cream. I got the Brookies and cream ice cream. You can taste the brownie that is in there. Service was not so great. My ice cream took 15 min to make. I saw the employees talking more than making my ice cream. Very disappointed in the service but the ice cream kinda made up for it. This place is located next to great restaurant in Santana row. A lot of things to do after getting delicious ice cream. Located in Santana Row near the cute chameleon outdoor area, Smitten specializes in freshly churned/made with liquid nitrogen ice cream (have NOT seen this trend since before the rolled ice cream trend which means this was AGES ago). They currently had a special flavor for AAPI, the pineapple teacake, which I would have LOVED to try, but I guess since they make their ice cream with that liquid nitrogen machine it was only available in pint form and as an out of towner, this was not possible sadly. I got a scoop of Ube Coconut on a waffle sundae bowl. It's a vanilla scented ube flavor with sweet coconut flakes on top. Honestly felt like it was made to be more palatable for the Western/American palate or at least more familiar since it tasted more coconut vanilla than any other ube flavor that I've had at an ice cream place before. I DID, however, really enjoyed the waffle bowl. It wasn't dry and had some chewy texture to it. Nice, sweet and yummy. read more

I have always liked Smitten. Years ago, I went to the one in Berkeley and San Francisco. This location in Santana Row was very convenient. Also right at the turf where there were tables and chairs to sit yet. The caramel cheesecake was very smooth, tasteful and full taste of the vanilla vase ice cream too. Brookies and Cream was good, wish more brownies and cookies taste, huge chunks here and there. Wait and service was not long. Will definitely come again. read more

Perfect little kiosk shop in Santana Row to satisfy your ice cream needs. I tried the brookies and cream which is brownie and cookie dough with vanilla. The vanilla base is very creamy and has a great flavor. Plenty of mix ins added as well. It's fun to stand by the window and watch the dry ice machine work its magic. read more

Service is horrible here. I ordered pickup of ice cream. The 1st time they didn't made 1 pint when we ordered 4. This time we order a special with 3 pints plus a tote bag and 1 sauce. When we went to pickup they told us they ran out of the tote bags and would give us back a discount and refund. They charged us the same amount on the receipt without the tote bag! We questioned the person and he kept saying we were all set it would not show. Checking our credit card there was not a single adjustment. What a scam! read more
It was my first time ordering at Smitten! Treated my friends to some delicious frozen dessert to celebrate our friend Audrey's birthday last night! The staff was super friendly and accommodating, providing a bday discount for the bday girl and extra cups and spoons for her bday cake! Smitten Ice Cream is one of my favorite ice cream spots. It's in Santana Row and during the winter, it can be chilly to sit outside. It is a stall and they make the ice cream by hand. You can see the window where they show you how they make it and the staff is really cool. Their selection changes by the season and one scoop can cost around $6-8 depending on what you want. I got the double mint chip, which tasted minty and fresh. It is one of my favorite flavors. There are a few tables and chairs where you can sit and eat. read more

The line was crazy so I was curious. It is nice that it's made for you but it was just ice cream. I want an out of body experience, or at least makes me do the happy tummy dance for that wait. Some really cool options here but time is important and sad to say it wasn't worth the wait. When you can pop in with no wait I'd definitely try again. I went here with some friends last night after dinner at Maggiano's and we all loved the ice cream! Two of my friends had the Brookie flavor and I had the spiced apple. Everything was so yummy! I'll definitely be back. Came during the Yelp Elite event. Staff was super nice and helpful. I tried the earl grey w chocolate chips flavor. I love earl grey and this was the perfect combination of sweet and floral. The single scoop was pretty big too, I'd definitely need to split it with someone next time. Location is very nice too, it's in a nice little grassy area of Santana Row, perfect area to sit and chill. read more

Second time trying Smitten Ice Cream! I went on a Saturday night. There was a small line but the wait was not significant. I believe I got the brookie's cream. It was my favorite flavor! I got a regular size which includes two scoops. For reference, the small includes only one scoop. Unfortunately, there are not enough covers to enjoy the ice cream under the rain, so my friends and I enjoyed our ice cream under an umbrella. Parking is limited to local garages in Santana Row. I will come again! read more
