12+ years later after my first review, and even more than that since I first tried Vasy's - they're still a 5 star rating for me! Our family's go-to's are the French crullers (crispy on the outside, moist and airy inside) and the classic yeast-raised donuts (usually we'll get some sugar-coated ones, classic glazed, and the glazed with cinnamon sugar crumbs is *everyone's* favorite). I love an occasional maple glaze one too. The circular old-fashioned donuts are a lot denser and a bit too heavy for me with the density + extra thick glaze coating. I like the old-fashioned buttermilk bars more, as there's more donut to balance out the glaze. Service is quick as always. I'm happy to see they take credit cards now - it was cash-only for a long time. I hope they continue for many years to come! read more

I ordered a half dozen cronut holes, glazed buttermilk, maple old-fashioned, chocolate raised, and an apple fritter. All of the glazes for the donuts (with the exception of the apple fritter) were just tooooo sweet. I was so disappointed because the textures of all the the donuts were great, but you really couldn't eat more than a bite due to the sweetness. Oddly enough, the apple fritter wasn't too sweet. I figured they would use the same glaze, but I guess not? The fritter itself had a nice crisp and crunchy exterior and fluffy interior. I drove all the way from Foster City because I'd heard so many great things about Vasy's Donut Shop and was excited to finally try it. I arrived before closing time, but the employee at the front, Mop, told me they were completely sold out of everything. While I understand that can happen, what disappointed me most was his attitude. He seemed like he wanted to ignore me and brush me off rather than provide friendly customer service. The entire experience left me feeling unwelcome, and the long drive ended up being for nothing. I really hope the shop considers hiring friendlier staff or providing better customer service training, because this interaction honestly makes me hesitant to ever come back. This tiny donut shop in Fremont has been open since I was a kid. I remember going here and it always being stocked well with donuts, croissants, cinnamon rolls etc. they also make breakfast sandwiches to order. Yes they also have coffee and chocolate milk. I came here while visiting family, and MAN, it hasn't changed. From the 3 tables inside, to the glass display cases and most of all, to the best donuts I've ever had, this place remains my favorite donut shop hands down!! No matter which donut you decide, it'll be top notch. My favorite is and has always been their Apple fritter. It's large and crispy and actually contains chunks of Apple. The donuts were made fresh that morning and were ready at the time specified. The staff there is really friendly and aim to please. So how are strawberry glazed donuts? I'm currently enjoying the second half of yesterday's sandwich, and I felt it would be ungrateful of me to not share my thoughts. I was so satisfied after eating the first half that I decided to save the rest for today, and it's just as delicious. Earlier, my daughter and I ordered sandwiches after a busy day of running errands. On our way home, I couldn't resist taking a few bites. While my taste buds were delighted, I ended up having to change my shirt when we got home. This sandwich was loaded with toppings (excluding lettuce) and the meat was incredibly thick, at least an inch. Unlike other places where I've ordered avocado, where it's barely noticeable, this sandwich had avocado in every bite. We even joked about feeling like we were disrespecting the croissant that held all the deliciousness, because it was so good on its own. The croissant was large, flaky, and tender, and would probably be best enjoyed alone or with something light like butter or jam. Considering how expensive things have become, it was refreshing to find a sandwich that not only offered great taste but also good value. We will definitely be returning! read more
