My dad has been coming here for years and made an appointment for me to come here. The sign was a bit difficult to notice while driving. I had slightly overshot by going into a street a bit north of Smog Champs...there was a used car business (?) right next to it that doesn't connect to Smog Champs. There's plenty of parking here and it wasn't busy. Anyway, I was told to ask for Dan. Looks like he's running the show himself! Terrible service. Had to wait hella long. He would only help his people eventho you've been there for hella long. He didn't pass my smog Bc of a "visual" fail over something so stupid that didn't even make sense to me. Still had to pay $40 something. Got a second opinion from others. Then took my car to another smog station and even talked to the techs there. They researched it Bc they thought it was weird and they've never heard of that issue being illegal before. Turns out that my car parts were all legal. I passed smog without making any changes to my vehicle. This place is a joke. I just got my car smogged here, there was only one guy working on a Saturday, but he had it down to a science, each car averaged about 20 - 25 minutes tops, service time. My car did not pass,but minimal fixes, such as a bulb 4 my MIL/Check engine light ( just learned this term), air box that shuts properly. I have been using Smog Champs for about 3 years and there is no other place that is cheaper. This place is a one man show so depending on what time of day you come in; there can be a really long wait. Your best bet is to come here in the morning or after lunch. From my personal experience, all my appointments after 3 pm was pretty much void. It becomes first come first serve. I came here 3 times after 3pm and all three times I waited more than 2 hours. The times I came in the morning, I was done in less than 45 minutes. As I stated earlier, you will not find a cheaper place to get your car smogged. The regular price here is a coupon/discounted price at other places. Smog "Test Only" with certificate is around $40. Also the owner of this place is a real nice guy with great customer service. I am giving 4 stars because appointments are pretty non-existent. If you have something scheduled after getting your car smogged, be aware that you may have to wait more than 2 hours if a lot of people are ahead of you. If you're lucky and get there with no other customers around, you should be in and out of there in less than an hour. read more

Please be aware of these people! DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CAR UNATTENDED! And if you don't know anything about cars, bring someone who knows! If I can do no stars I would. Came here two weeks ago and had to leave the car for two and a half hours. Left it here and had a friend pick me it up. Came back two hours later and he was still working on it. After waiting another 20 mins he told me it didn't pass because I had the wrong converter and couldn't read the label to match which converter I needed. He told me how much the label would be but never mentioned the pricing of the converter so that was suspicious. I didn't ask how much it would cost so that was my fault. Thinking it wasn't gonna be that much and also thinking the converter had something to do with the breaks because that was the only thing I ever got done, that and my outside body in the last two years since my last smog (a different smog passed me). I paid the $50 and he said he will give me a discount next time I come back. When I went to the Toyota dealership and got the label, turns out that a converter can go up to $1,000. This is when I started getting more suspicious. I told a friend who knows a lot about cars about the situation and right off the bat he told me that they're playing me. I always give people the benefit of the doubt but after taking it to another smog from a mutual (wish I had known about sooner) I found out that indeed someone switched my converter and all finger points to the last place I left it unattended for two hours. These people are a bunch of liars and scammers and they will do whatever they can to make any extra cash. I can only imagine how many people they've taken advantage of already especially to their own people. I will be reporting them. read more

Called them to find a place for smogging our car that day, we were past due. The gentleman answered the phone and said we could come in straight away. We arrived and caught him on the tail end of his lunch break. He asked if we minded if he finished his lunch, about 10 minutes, I said of course not! So my daughter and I waited and he got right into running the check after his lunch. Our car passed (always a relief!) and he asked how much I had been quoted on the phone. I hadn't asked during the call, and hadn't been quoted. He gave me a discount (a general one, I'm sure, but appreciated nonetheless). In the end I spent about $50, what I was expecting to pay, and that included the certificate fees. Front to back a friendly guy. If he is still there next time I need a smog, I'll probably be going back. read more

Just got my car smogged here (weekday, early afternoon) and they were great. No one else was in line, only took about 15-20 minutes from the time I arrived. They are also STAR certified which I needed for my registration this time around. Bonus: They were also super friendly and personable! The owner/worker seemed very pleasant, but he seemed like he might have had a nervous twitch or something. We filled out paper work, and he gave me $10 off for no reason. While he smogged my car he seemed to know what he was doing and it looked like he was rushing to get me out of there ASAP even though I never expressed I was in a hurry. Great place. I called Smog Champs about 4:20 this afternoon to inquire about the cost to smog my 7 yr. old Prius. The owner quoted me $40 and said he was open until 5:00 and that I should come in this afternoon if it worked for me. I hustled in, waited about 10min. while he finished with another customer and then got my car smogged. The owner stayed open late to finish my car, submitted my certificate electronically and charged me exactly $40 total. This was great service and a great deal. This place is VERY bad news. They are a classic "bait and switch" company. I found them on Craigslist where they advertised a $31.95 smog test ... but when I called told me "well, some cars are $10 more." I asked them why they couldn't tell me over the phone what the price was for MY car (giving them year, model and all other info) but they "had to see it." Basically, they want you to come in and then accept it when they switch the price. Here on Yelp they offer a $20 off coupon ... BUT only if you use their upwardly adjusted price of $50. So either way they are pulling a bait and switch. If they tap dance around the price this much BEFORE they have your business, would you really want to trust them to retest your car if it just "happened" not to pass? STAY FAR AWAY FROM THESE GUYS! read more
