I used Lisa's coupon - thank you!!! Called them on the phone. Was told a check costs $50. Asked if they would honor the online $10 off, and that was fine. The gentleman running this shop was fast, friendly, honest and competent. I would not hesitate to bring my other cars to him when a "test-only" smog is needed. I was a little surprised that $40 was my total cost. Most stations add on extra fees for the certificate, transmission to Sacramento, etc. Not this guy. Please support him. I brought my two cars to two different smog check stations two-day on the roll. This place is much professional than the other one though the final price is only $1 less. Bottom line, I don't like surprises. (The info for the other station is at the last part of my review.) This station, Smog Check Plus, offered a $29.75 coupon and listed all potential additional charges. When I got there, a young guy came to greet me. I showed him the DMV notice and the coupon, he immediately explained the charge with some add-on then gave me the final price. My DMV notice was handed back right away. Took only around 15 minutes then one person told me it's passed. I got my copy and ready to go. In regards to the other place, it's not far from this station. That place has very "good" review. You will find they offer a $20 discount but no transparent price list. They didn't tell you the price until your car was at the checking station (so it's too late). They almost forgot to return the DMV notice. And today I found my engine cover wasn't even close tight. Well, read reviews carefully then you will know what is real and what is not. read more

Smog check is very fast, about one or two minutes, then I was presented a bill, which includes $60 smog inspection, $20 electronic transmit and $8.25 certificate. Before coming to this location, I read the first couple of reviews I was under the impression that with a coupon printed that the smog check would be around $40-$45. Once I drove in they automatically took care of me as it looks like they didn't have anyone waiting. They automatically asked for the paperwork and noted that that it'll take just a few minutes which was great, but once they started work I guess it was my fault for not double-checking the actual price before they started right away. About mid-way of starting, one of the guys provided me paper work to sign off on and wanted to highlight the charges: $60 for smog inspection (this was manually filled in) $20 for some new computer system that they just upgraded to (this was manually filled in) $8.25 for the regular smog certificate fee (which goes to the DMV) -$10.00 for the coupon I printed online from one of the reviews on yelp total of $78.25. When asked about the breakdown, it was clear to me that they charged me high. The dude was cool, but he said a lot of things, which weren't quite relevant and almost had me question that this smog check might go through... I'm sure it will and if anything I have my documentation to prove this. But as he spoke further I got the sense that they would only give you additional discount if you as a customer can potentially give them repeat service. He also mentioned that sometimes, even though you get a notice that requires you to have a smog check, he mentioned that it might not be true and to double-check on that since it's possible that you might not need within the typical 2 yr period. I don't know, I'm not a car-head, but basically I walked away feeling like I didn't need to have a smog check and I probably was an opportunity to make a sale for them this week. I have 3 other cars under my household, and this location is within my neighborhood, but honestly, I recommend you go somewhere else due to this price. Or if you do need to go to this place for whatever reason, I suggest you ask first the price before they take your car in. Friendly people overall, but unfortunately, the rating is due to the price especially seeing other reviews for this place where they got charged only $40 with a coupon. read more

Avoid this shop!!! The smog technician will so nit-pick to fail your smog check, which the vehicle has passed on other station for a few times. They only failed me on the virtual check even though they give you the free retest, but it is NOT worth the trouble to get them satisfied. I called before arriving to see if their was a wait. The person on the phone said to come in and they will take care of me. Man was he right! Great and fast service from arriving there to getting my smog check all done less than 15 minutes. They were friendly and had great customer service. My daughter was sleeping in the car and they allowed her and I to stay in the car while they did the smog check. The price is a plus too, very reasonable and cheaper than other places. When I was there this was pretty much a one man shop. He did everything quick, processing paperwork and the smog check. I was in and out in about 15 minutes. However, he wasn't clear on the price at all! The wall says 60 bucks but wasn't clear if that included the certificate fee of 8.25. I'm like fine. Then he slapped on another 20 dollar electronic transmittal fee! Bill would've 88.25 if I didn't have a 10 dollar coupon! None of this was communicated to me prior to the work. Wouldn't recommend. Do not go to this store, as they are dishonest. Your car will be tested in less than 5 mins, and they will twist your various hoses and make cracks for you to repair. The most non tolerable thing is that they do NOT follow covid-19 procedures. they sit in your car, bare hands, and drive it to the station, and they talk to you really loud and close, and you can feel their bad breath. Gave it a second try after a lot of other places wanted to charge me upwards of 250 to do a smog check on my 1997 van. I found Discount Smog Center when searching for a nearby Star Certified shop as required by the DMV this year. Reviews were all over the place but I requested a quote through Yelp and Rob replied within minutes with a very competitive price. I dropped by after work. When I first saw the building/property I wasn't 100% sure if it was the right place because the weeds were overgrown and some of the banners weren't fully attached. The waiting room was tidy with a TV playing in case you're not lucky enough to hit them during a slow period. The shop area itself is pretty sparse. I didn't have an appointment so luckily the shop was empty and the tech was able to test my car immediately. It was probably 20 minutes max (if that) between the time I drove in and the time I left. Pretty happy with how fast it was. Quick and professional service is what I got all for a good price compared to other places I looked at. NOTE: My car is lowered so getting in and out of the driveway "hump" caused my car to scrape badly. Proceed with caution although for most cars it should be fine. read more
