    My experience with Premier Car Care Center and owner Rich Jano Sr. was one of the most…read moredisappointing and stressful customer service experiences I have encountered. On February 26, 2026, I paid a $500 deposit by debit card to hold a low-mileage transmission for my 1998 Chevy S-10 4x4. During our discussions, I was never told by Rich that the deposit was non-refundable, nor was I asked to sign any agreement acknowledging that I would forfeit the deposit if I could not proceed with the repair. Shortly after placing the deposit, my circumstances changed dramatically. My father was hospitalized with serious medical conditions, and I had to make arrangements to travel out of state to help care for him and assist my family. At the same time, my truck was already undergoing other repairs that needed to be completed before any transmission replacement could take place. When I informed Rich of my situation, I was surprised to learn that he wanted an additional $500 to continue holding the transmission, which was not part of our original agreement...despite the fact that I had already paid a $500 deposit. This additional $500 requirement had never been discussed with me by Rich when the original deposit was taken. I explained that I could not proceed with the transmission installation at that time because of my father's medical emergency and the uncertainty surrounding how long I would be away. Rather than work with me toward a reasonable solution, Rich refused to refund any portion of my deposit. His weak position was that the transmission had already been purchased and that it could not simply be returned "like an Amazon item." However, no transmission installation was ever performed, no labor was provided, and no work was done on my vehicle by Premier Car Care Center. What also troubled me was that no documentation was I ever provided to me by Rich to show what actual costs, if any, were incurred for ordering the transmission, that would justify retaining my entire $500 deposit. I was told that the transmission had already been purchased and that it could not simply be returned "like an Amazon item," but I was never provided with any invoices, shipping charges, restocking fees, or other records showing why the full deposit had to be retained. Because the transmission was reportedly sourced from within Southern California and no installation work was ever performed, I attempted to work toward a reasonable compromise, including requesting a partial refund and sent a final email, asking if we could settle the matter amicably. Those efforts were unsuccessful, and my final email seeking a resolution received no response from Rich and completely ignored. I also filed a dispute with my bank, but was surprisingly ultimately unable to recover the funds, even with all of my evidence of no work performed. A complaint was also filed with the BBB. What disappointed me most was not just the loss of the $500 deposit, but the complete lack of empathy, compassion, flexibility and willingness to work with a customer dealing with a serious family medical crisis. At a time when I was worried about whether my father was going to recover or not, I felt that my circumstances were completely and coldly disregarded by Rich...as he never made any comment of concern regarding my father's health, only wanting more money from me. Based on my terrible experience, I cannot recommend Premier Car Care Center and their shady business practices...stay away! Customers should make sure they fully understand every deposit policy in writing before providing any payment...so my horrible experience with Rich and his not so "Premier Car Care" Center does not happen to you.
