I driven by this Smog & Go numerous times, everything seems orderly and very clean. Shop is very spacious and employees are friendly. This was my first bi-annual CA smog test for my 2018 Karma Revero (PHEV). I was lookng for a place that was quick and clean. I can say this is it. The only request I had was to not latch the hood when they were done as I feel better when I do this myself. My instructions were followed, everyone was very nice, and the passing smog check was completed in 15 minutes or less. You may be able to save a $10 or so somewhere else, but you end of in place that sometimes can be sketchy. None of that here, I would gladly pay a little more for fast and friendly service. I hadn't received the renewal notification in the mail, so I called up Smog 'n Go and asked if i could bring in an old notification from a past year with me. It has the VIN number and maybe that or other info could be gleaned. "No problem" said the guy on the phone, and so, I drove in. There was no difficulty. In fact, it was in the late morning, so it was not very busy, at all. There was an open bay when I pulled up. When you read the incredibly helpful Yelp reviews and the majority of people are telling you that it takes them about 10 minutes, please believe them. LOL. I went in on a Monday morning and was out of there within 10 minutes. You basically get your registration ready for them, pull the car up, walk into the office to fill out paperwork, and by the time you are done doing all of that, you car has already been smogged. Took my car here for smog check. Pros: quick and easy. Cons: First, the Asian guy at the front desk quickly told me to initial and sign without explaining anything to me. Second, he entered the incorrect model of my car onto the invoice. Lastly, he charged me $69.75 on the receipt but the invoice shows $59.75 ($10 less due to the online coupon). He didn't even notify me. I had already went in to my car when I looked at the receipt/invoice and noticed that the price did not match. I had to go back inside. They've been my go for several cars and trucks. From an old 98 toyota Camry to my f250 super duty they have always got me in and out! This last time I came with the f250, fully loaded with crap and my dump trailer and skid steer during a storm. They let me unhook my trailer and pushed me through. Love it! Done with this place, and my car passed, so I'm not mad about failing a test. The overall attitude is always garbage. If they're not directly calling for you, they act like you're invisible. There's one guy who is always unpleasant, and I don't think he's ever spoken to a customer. In the past, another staffer explained he's not much for people, so he stays outside. Ya think that might be a problem? Apparently he also has no respect for customer vehicles. Came in here with our SUV a few months ago, and I see him slamming doors, pulling himself out of the car using the door frame, and even using his feet to kick the door open. Wasn't pleased, but figured it was a one-off. Maybe he was having a bad day. We all have them. Came in with another car, saw him, and pulled into a different lane. Guess it doesn't matter, because he worked on this car as well as the other car out there. Asked another staffer if that guy was "the one guy" who runs the test. Dude just laughed and didn't answer my question. Said I've seen him using his shoes to open my door (again), and asked if he could not do that. This other guy just ignored me completely and walked out the door. This car isn't in great shape, but I still expect anyone working with it to treat it with respect. This dude's trying to pull up the hood without pressing the latch, so it's torquing on one side while he's fiddling. Hood gets opened, then the guy's leaning his elbows on the fender. This is the first time to "smog" my vehicle. I was a little nervous after reading reviews of all different smog shops of how disappointed everyone was and so on. I decided to check out this place out since it's near the house. They had decent reviews, $10 discount coupons on Yelp and their website. When you arrive here, there's a sign directing you to pull around to the back. When you pull around, there's another sign instructing to leave the car running and park it. A gentleman quickly greeted me and helped me out. He pulled the car into the bay area for another technician to perform their magic test! The first gentleman took my DMV paperwork to enter the information. I waited in their clean lobby area. It was very quick and painless!! These guys were excellent! My wife's car originally didn't pass but they give one free retake. What ended up happening is we took our car to Nissan of Elk Grove to get a part and we're sold the wrong part. Still, they were super nice and told us everything we needed to ask for from Nissan. After a bad experience with Nissan of Elk Grove, we finally got the right part and went back to get my wife's car smog checked. I love how they're open early hours, and the staff here is great at customer service. I usually stop by at 8am and always get in and out quickly. 1st, if you have an older vehicle, avoid this place like the plague! I think they actually enjoy failing people. 1st test, passed emissions lower then national average! But the hear riser tube had a crack which was tapped a d it was working FINE! The kid working there failed it being picky. He also failed us for a grommet that seals the filler tube to the gas tank. Mind you no smell of gas was present! Yes, the grommet was old and had some cracks, but after having replaced it, the mechanic I went to showed me it, and wasn't even close to being cracked all the way thru! So even though my truck passed emissions with excellent results, this kid failed me on 2 parts that hadn't failed yet regarding function! So, I go back day I got parts fixed, and this new guy, an old man, failed my truck because there was a small vacuum leak at the base of carb. Wasn't leaking gas, just AIR! AND REMEMBER, THIS VERY GASKET PASSED THE YOUNG KIDS VISUAL TEST. If you have a newer vehicle, this place is probably ok. But for anyone with a older working vehicle, avoid this horror show of a place! 1 star for nice setup, 0 stars for employees. read more
