They failed to warm up the engine, yes, it has a cold air intake (stock), but their technicians are no experts, so, if you have an older car and some adjustments done, don't bother to waste money here. I failed my first smog and then came back to get it fixed, paid the 45 dollar assurance so I wouldn't have to go to dmv. The girl working the counter entered my address wrong. Unfortunately this caused me to have to go back and forth from the dmv three times in one day. While she was courteous and nice, she wouldn't give me my money back even though she was at fault. THE STAFF WILL TRY TO FIGHT YOU!!! I came in asking for a smog but I told them before they did the smog to verify if it was an obd1 or an obd2 and if they found it was an obd2 not to run the test because I knew it would fail. My truck had to be smogged a certain way and if they do it wrong it will fail so instead of listening to me they told me it was an obd1 but ran it as an obd2 so naturally it failed, even after I told them not to run the obd2 test. They came back and told me it failed and I questioned why they ran the test after I told them not to and he was demanding money from me. Guy lost his mind started cursing at me threatening to call the cops which I agreed with but then started threatening me, getting violent making racial comments at my black friend then tried to fight us both after many attempts to calm him down. He had to be physically dragged off 2 times by his coworker at which point his boss agreed that I would not be charged any money. After talking with the "big boss" Brian who tried to make it like it was my fault eventually told me he would have a talk with the guy...a fucking talk!?! This guy needs to be in a mental institution not at the front desk of a business.. read more

Brought my car in for a smog check. Some guy name Jacob told me that it would take almost 2 hours before they could test my car. There were 4 other cars out front, that's all. I watched the same car sit in the testing bay for 25 minutes not being tested while the other 4 cars never moved. When I asked why it was taking so long to test one car the tech (Jacob) told me to "go somewhere else and get out" which is EXACTLY what I'll be doing from now on. I have been getting my cars smogged there for the past 10 years. Today, I brought in my car that needed smog done that has a CARB legal intake on it. Jacob told me I can't have aftermarket parts on the car, after I showed him LEGAL DOCUMENTS stating it was alright he still denied to even test my vehicle and told me to "get outta here" I have never been met with this kind of service before and the same car with the same part passed 2 years ago. I needed to take my car to a star location, so I took my car here. I've owned this car for for about 8 years and took the vehicle here when I bought the car used to transfer the title. The car passed the computer test but failed the visual. I haven't changed anything since I bought the car, so I was a little confused why it failed. I was told there was an aftermarket intake system. I drove the car home and was able to find out the intake was stock within2 minutes of research. There was a stock black hose that had been switched out for a red hose. I repaced this hose and returned to get re smogged. The car passed, but this was a little bit of a pain. I had to make an extra drive from up the hill for no real reason. I live a few hours away and store the car here, so I didn't want to wait a couple months to return to town. I'm not sure if this location got in trouble and are extra cautious on the visual or if all star places are this way. I'm sure their just doing their job.....but why didn't they point this hose out when I purchased the car? The time I was there was pretty respectable during the test (20 mins). The price seems to be about $15-20 above other locations, this might be due to the "star" smog service. I would just caution you that your car will probably fail the visual if ANYTHING under the hood has been changed. read more

This place was terrible! I have an 2001 Tahoe so maybe it was shame on me for thinking this place could help. Lets just start with the receptions. Very rude. I was in there a total of 6 times in two weeks and every time was like it was my first time in there. I can pull the big story out but the bottom line is you should never use a place like this if you have an older car. I don't think they want you there in the first place. I ended up taking it to a shop and had to pay them to get the smog check because of a fuse. So this place was worthless to me! read more

I cannot recommend this place to anyone who has ANY modifications on their vehicle, even if they are legal and/or have CARB stickers. Smog 'N Go took it upon itself to fail my car because they did not like a hose that came with a fully CARB Exempt mod. Then they failed the car again because the CARB Exempt sticker said 2002-2003, and my vehicle was 2003, but counted as a 2004 model, exact same vehicle. Another car of mine they passed without comment, but two years later at the next smog, they failed it though it was totally unchanged (and passed smog by a mile). While waiting, the counter person began arguing with another customer whose car they had failed until the customer left in disgust. This place has cost me several work days. It seems like they get joy out of harassing customers and decide what people may or may not drive. I should add that in each case, the cars passed the smog test which, I was under the impression, is what these smog places are there to check. read more

I always come to Smog 'N Go because it's so close to work that I can just stop in during my lunch. I'm rating it a 4 star because I've never had a bad experience here though it is a little bit pricey, ending up over $50 even with a $10 discount. But both my cars come here for smog and they've both passed with flying colors so it's hard to complain. The guys working here seem to be pretty on top of things. The office/waiting area feels kinda dingy but it really doesn't matter since you won't be there more than 15 or so minutes. read more

I was in and out with the paperwork already uploaded to DMV for my registration renewal inside of 25 minutes. I couldnt have asked for a better stop. I have had numerous Smog checks done at Smog "N Go and I must say I am impressed with every facet of the experience. They are very efficient, honest, an pleasant to do business with. My latest Smog check was done on a Roadtrek RV Van. I was hoping not to have to pay the nearly $100 charge which is usually due to necessary equipment removal in order to perform the check on most RV's. Since my RV was actually a full size Van, I didn't see the need for any extra work. Sure enough, Smog 'N Go Technician Robert Naylor agreed and I ended up paying the standard vehicle price which was the fair thing to do. Additionally, to make matters even better, I had a $10 off coupon which I had forgot at home. To my surprise, during check out, the lovely lady, Bamby, who completed my paperwork gave me the discount for the coupon. I highly recommend the Folsom Smog 'N Go, JOB WELL DONE! Update May 2017: "All good things must come to an end". I went to have two of my vehicles smogged. The first was a passenger vehicle which was smog checked without any issues. The second was the same aforementioned Van. Same Tech, same receptionist. I was told the cost would be $100. In the presence of the receptionist I asked the Tech why the cost increase since the previous two checks were at the standard fee of around $59. He stated, and I quote, "I don't care about that". At that point, It really wasn't so much about the money as it was about the disrespectful demeanor of the Tech. A cordial explanation would have sufficed. I said thank you and took my Van down the road whereby the extra cost was explained to me as being the cost related to all RV's, big or small, for removing the interior engine cover for proper inspection. The shop told me if I removed the cover myself the cost would be their standard fee of $54. I removed the cover myself and the shop completed the smog check. read more

This will now be my go-to smog place. I used to frequent another place in town, but decided to give Smog 'N Go a try after I found myself dreading my yearly visit to the other place. Not that going to get your car smogged is ever fun, but it at least shouldn't be a huge pain in the butt and/or time suck to get it done. I stopped in here during the late afternoon on a Tuesday (I think) and I was in and out in under 30 minutes, if not less. I walked in, signed in, an employee got my keys, and got my car into the service bay in under 5 minutes. 20-25 minutes later my car was done and waiting for me outside. In addition to that, the staff were professional and friendly. I actually *almost* enjoyed getting the smog done. Such a nice change of pace. This is a good place to go if you're in a time crunch....or even if you're not. read more

Just a heads up, this smog station is meticulous when it comes to visual inspection. My truck passed all the electronic inspection except the rubber hose for the pvc. They saw the hose with a radiator hose label on it so they failed it. If I have taken the label off they would not even know it. Then we had our car check with them and failed again due to visual inspection again. This time white bluish smoke coming out of the tailpipe. We brought it over to a smog check and repair station to have it fixed and they cannot see any smoke at all. So just be careful if your car or truck is more than 10 years old, they will be pernickety. You've been warned. "Smog N Fail" read more

Brought a Porsche 911 here to get smogged and they said only the dealer can remove the cover to get to the engine. So I called the dealer and they said that wasn't true at all and said any smog shop can do it. I ended up going to another one that had no problem performing the smog.
