I went here for a Crown Royal event so my review is based upon the food they served us there. We had the top floor. First, you walk in and you smell bbq right off the bat. It smelled great! So welcoming! The bottom floor was to the public and I thought it was nice, too. They had live music! It got loud so if are by the stairs upstairs, you will definitely hear the music. They are singing true to the blues part of their tag. I'm big on street art and murals so I loved that the corridors leading to the bathrooms were painted. They laid out a nice spread of cornbeard, Wrightwood salad, small buns for sandwiches, pulled chicken, brisket, pulled pork, baked beans, mac and cheese, and s'mores. I think I found my favorite salad of the summer, too! I went back to get more salad. I have only had s'mores once before this event and I grabbed 1 - loved it then grabbed 2 more on my second plate. They were very tasty. Overall, I'd definitely recommend going here. I'd go again if I was seeing a game at Wrigley or close by! read more

I went here for the VIP private Crown Royal Texas Mesquite launch party. Barbeque, blues, drinks and more! This location is right across the street from Wrigley Field. No, you will not be able to watch a Cubs game from here, but they have a lot of big screen TV's where you can watch a variety of sports. I'm sure they feature the Cubs games while they are playing. We were here on a Wednesday night and the first floor was half full! Not bad for a week night. They are really crowded on weekends and during Cub home games. Our event was on the second floor, with a full bar, lots of tables, and a great rooftop/balcony space that overlooks Clark street. Two levels of great barbecue, music and drinks! We had a wonderful buffet of salad, cornbread, rolls, smoked meats: chicken, brisket, and pork, macaroni and cheese, barbecue beans and smores for dessert. Everything was delicious with a great smoky flavor. All of the meats were tender and moist. They have 3 choices of hot sauce on the tables, but, I felt that the meat was so good, that they didn't need any sauce at all. I definitely will return here for the food, music and drinks! read more

Mediocre at best and I wouldn't come here again unless pressed. There are a lot of places to eat in Wrigley and this just isn't it. They just aren't prepared for an average Saturday night in Chicago. They're out of chicken wings and running low on ribs at 8:15pm. Lol. You dont get to call yourself "Smoke Daddy" and you're out of wings and Cajun catfish on Saturday at 8pm. Shocked that there was a game at Wrigley were we? Further the restaurant was short staffed and the hostess was on her personal phone and made us wait until she finished chatting on her call before seating us. I had to go to the bar to start our order because we were waiting a long time for someone to come by to give us water. Now here's the kicker - it was NOT crowded. I was initially introduced to Smoke Daddy via their food truck that sat on Southport Ave for the majority of the Summer. I always saw the chalk art on the sidewalks and the truck but I recently decided to check them out and I wish I had visited sooner. Smoke Daddy offers so many meat options to choose from which makes it hard to decide when you first visit. I was happy that they offer a platter that allows you to choose two meats and two sides. I have visited Smoke Daddy a few times since my first visit and I have been able to try all of the meats offered with the platter. They offer pulled pork, brisket, pulled chicken, and burnt ends as options for the platter. I always get the platter because it is a bang for your buck and it gives me the opportunity mix up my meats. I still haven't mixed up my meats from the brisket and burnt ends but if I wanted to, I could. I highly recommend the brisket, it is so juicy and has a nice fat to meat ratio. I normally pair it with the burnt ends because they are delicious and not too charred unlike a lot of places that sale burnt ends. I have also tried the pulled chicken and pulled pork which are both delicious so you can't go wrong with either of the options. My sides typically consists of the mac-n-cheese and cornbread. The meat tends to be consistent but the sides are hit or miss. On my most recent visit the mac-n-cheese was giving boxed mac-n-cheese vibes but the cornbread was good and the previous visit it was the opposite problem. Honestly, you are really going for the meat so a mediocre side here and there isn't the worst. read more

I didn't have super high expectations for BBQ in Chicago but I am so glad we decided to eat here before watching a Cubs game next door at Wrigley Field. The brisket sandwich was great and among the best I've had (I've had BBQ in Austin and KC). The drink options were also pretty good. Copilot got the cornbread and I stole a bite, it was excellent. Stole a bite of my sister's baked beans also excellent. I got the ribs/burnt ends and pork combo. All good IMHO, ribs weren't falling off the bone so I had to get after them with both hands but were tasty. Got the crusty portion of pulled pork and they and the burnt ends were delightful. Tried a dab of each of their table sauces and hot sauce, wasn't personally a fan of any of those. Won't even deduct a star for the cities stupid mask and vax rules. Went here for brunch two weeks ago. We arrived just as they were opening on Saturday morning. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The bartender, I think his name was Brian, tended to my husband, and I as we waited for the rest of our party. He brought us over water and coffee immediately. We went for the family sale, all you can eat brunch. For $19 you get to choose an egg entrée prepared the way you'd like. That is accompanied by a platter of pancakes, sausage, bacon, fruit, salad, and hashbrowns... OMG, the hashbrowns! These were not just ordinary hashbrowns. They were packed with seasoning, herbs, cheese, and so tasty! The great thing about the bottomless breakfast is they will bring you over more of anything you'd like. For an additional $27 you can get bottomless drinks. These included mimosas, brunch, punch, and a spritzer. I had the punch which was southern comfort with orange/pineapple juice. Delicious!! The atmosphere is more like a sports bar, TV's all around. The Cubs were away the weekend we were there, so things are quiet. I'm sure when they're home you could get a route of your crowd inside. Either way on to the good stuff Burnt Ends Sandwich: Thought this was spot on, normally burnt ends are either too fatty or too burnt that it over powers the taste. But this sandwich was the right amount of both, just enough fat so you can taste the meat and just feel a little guilty for eating something so GOOD! And enough crisp that you know it's burnt ends. Only critique would be the sauces, wish they had some better sauces. Don't get me wrong they got a lot to choose from but the sauce IMO were just okay.
