As someone who works in hospitality, I NEVER leave negative reviews for restaurants, because I know there's always a multitude of factors that can affect a service. However, this was quite literally the most pitiful plate of food I've ever had in my life. My geriatric grandmother could've made a better brisket out of a crock pot. The texture of the pulled pork was as if they had put it into a dehydrator for 8 hours before serving it. No amount of sauce could've saved it. The greens tasted like they were cooked in water they got from a puddle out back by the dumpster. Mac & cheese is just melted velveeta over dollar general elbow noodles. Recently visited Smoke Daddy this past Saturday for lunch. Food was decent and the service was good until I received a notification that my card was charged for nearly $300 (our original bill was roughly $80). Which... for a college student, this took a big hit to my account. Upon the mistake, I was only met with the waitress and a verbal apology. It wasn't until I pulled aside a manager on my own that I was able to speak to one. I simply asked for, at the very least, a void receipt confirming that the transaction was terminated. I was still only given a verbal apology until I asked another manager for some help. After much back and forth I did receive a $25 gift card back to the same restaurant. I still have yet to receive the money back. I was given a business card for who I believe is the GM with only an email and name. I have tried contacting and am waiting for a response. read more

Even if you microwave them the next day, they are still fire. The fries were dry and pretty average but the cornbread with the dollop of butter was delicious! My favorite sides so far have been the collard greens and beans! Smoked Meat Platter: 8/10 My boyfriend always orders the meat platter and gets burnt ends and brisket. We booked a table for a late lunch since they had a restaurant week special. However, after being seated at the table, our waitress told us they aren't doing it anymore as it's a brunch menu. However, on the Restaurant Week website, it clearly states lunch. They said we could wait until it was 3pm to do the dinner option. Came here for Sunday brunch last week. It was awesome! The atmosphere was laid back and inviting. Our server Ryan was great and upbeat. He explained how the brunch worked and checked on us often. We never had empty glass or plates. For $19 you can choose an entrée (from a list of about 5) and have unlimited "sides." The side included monkey bread, bacon, sausage, pancakes, hashbrown casserole, and fruit. If the sides don't quite tickle your fancy or you're just feeling super hungry, you can order an additional entrée. For an additional $16 you can have bottomless brunch drinks too! We started with drinks and monkey bread. I ordered a mimosa with pineapple juice and bae got a bloody mary, sans pork, which also comes with a Miller Highlife pony. The mimosa was an adult pour and the juice came on the side so I could choose how much I wanted. The perfect way to serve mimosas! Idk why any place would serve them any different? The monkey bread was luxurious with its flaky and buttery crust in a cast iron skillet. It was surprisingly not too sweet. For entrées, I got the pulled pork benedict and he got the brisket hash and a veggie omelette. The eggs on my benedict were jammy but not runny like I like so I skipped them. The pulled pork was good and I added their spicy BBQ sauce even though it came with a chipotle hollandaise. It said chipotle but my guess is they just used the adobo sauce that the peppers come in rather than any peppers because it was very meh. Everything else was great! I got my fill on the fluffy pancakes, yummy hashbrowns and tons of bacon. I did end up ordering some scrambled eggs later in the meal too. I love barbecue, specifically brisket! One of the best parts about living in Wicker Park now is that I can walk to Smoke Daddy. They have great offerings for dogs as well and are super dog friendly! My dog Pancake loved the pig ears she got here. I love their brisket, though my boyfriend and I found their Mac and cheese slightly too liquidy.
