This place was a really nice find. We came here for trivia and got a few beers as well. The Shiner Summer Shandy was amazing. Also the pimento cheese balls will change your life.

Beef Dip with Giardiniera. Quite good. Crispy fries too!

Better than expected to be honest. I mean I knew I'd love a proper Guinness at any proper pub, but the food was way better than expected, the vibe of the place with the couches and fireplace, and the service was great too. Classic pub menu options, but all executed better than expected. Looks like such a standard bar from the outside but really expands on the inside, love the elevated tables like a proper pub and then the couches and fireplace make for a very homely meal on the other side. I had the french dip with giardiniera which was really good. The fries were super crisp and despite not being overly hungry, I cleaned my plate. My wife did the same with her meal. The wings were solid too to start. Our server was very attentive as well - he came over multiple times to make sure drinks were full, we had the food we needed, and given how quickly we put in food, he clearly made sure the kitchen got us our food quickly given how hungry some in our party were. Would definitely return!

Trivia night on Wednesdays! Our server did a fantastic job and gave great drink recommendations. Lone owl is a elegant and quirky place that has something for everyone - including delicious food. I was surprised at how good my shrimp tacos turned out! I recommend stopping by if you're in the neighborhood. The patio is very nice as well! -AT

Despite walking by this place for the past few years while living in Wicker Park, I have yet to step in until today. Boy have I been missing out. Their Smashburger was delicious, and their french fries were very tasty. Their rotating cocktail menu is a little pricey, but incredibly flavorful and clearly a lot of attention goes into it. The service was very kind, particularly because I brought two young rambunctious toddlers with me. It's kind of a cool vibe, it appears to be going for that English pub setting, plenty of TVs for sports, and they have a few board games you can play. I will definitely be coming back, as the chicken wings at the table next to me looked quite delectable...

The perfect pub to hang out with friends in Wicker, the music was such a throwback to the 2000s! Both the cocktails were boozy for the price, so worth it. Just wished the cauliflower was crispier and not soggy from the buffalo sauce, the chicken and veggies were the perfect mix. Our waitress was attentive and constantly checking on us. Will be coming back for sure

Great staff, awesome patio, cute inside seating in the heart of wicker park. Only ordered the fried pickles but they went craaaaazy. Super tasty, they didn't last long. Decent selection of beers on tap. Great quick stop after work!

I don't know how we've missed thus place! Cool ambiance, efficient and polite service and extremely fun and substantial menu! Peanut butter white Russian was the standout and Anna was just the sweetest. Solid burger too. Will be back for sure!

My friends and I just walked into this bar to enjoy a few drinks on a Sunday afternoon. This is atypical PNW pub with some amazing music though (Kudos to DJ Dave who was playing on Sunday afternoon) The Dj played some very good tech house music. Good music along with good drinks was icing on the cake. We ordered a Lychee Martini, Wasabi Martini, and Owl Komova. All the drinks were really good! Wasabi Martini was quite creative, it didn't have a smoky spicy taste as much, but wasn't sweet at all which was good! The service was good as well. Our server was grooving to the music and taking our order which I thought was pretty cool! They have a lot of seating space, an amazing bar, couches around a fireplace which was nice. This is a relatively newer place and they have exciting offers over the weekdays; look out for tips on my Yelp profile to learn more if you're interested. Overall, a decent place in Wicker Park. I cannot comment on food as we didn't try any! P.S. I earlier thought this place is an English pub as it smelled of fish and chips and there's a large telephone booth right outside at the entrance, although, after reading reviews I realized it's a PNW themed bar which honestly isn't that evident.

    Gochujang Brussels. Sauce on side

I don't dislike this place. Nice setup & atmosphere. Friendly and efficient service. The chicken sandwich was tasty and on a delicious bun. The accompanying waffle fries were excellent. However, I was sorely disappointed by the Brussels sprouts. They were not at all hot/warm and on the hard side. I took them home and cooked them some more to make them better. I had the sauce & bacon on the side, which I prefer. The sauce was a bit spicy for me but good Would return and maybe try the mussels.

Came here to cool off and grab a drink on a super hot day in Chicago. Let me say it is nice and cold in here my god. Such a save for us from the summer heat. We had really good service, sat on some very comfortable couches, with great drinks. Service was excellent our guy was super attentive and friendly.

Cute spot with a ton of delicious cocktails. I really liked the interior because of the varying types of seating for groups of different sizes. On Wednesdays, they have $2 off drafts and signature cocktails!

First time checkin it out since the rebrand. It was slow for a warm Saturday. There is cute seating up top but so hot! We moved on down to the main floor. Service was pretty slow here as well. I ordered the sticky fried chicken and the elder fashion, my friend choose the lobster corn dog and lychee martini. There was a menu change so the sticky fried chicken comes with noodles now instead of rice. I wish it was with rice instead of noodles. It was definitely a big dish. The elder fashion was super strong but I was able to swap it for a lychee martini. Overall cool place.

There were scattered games, such as Jenga and Connect 4. We ordered the Blue Cactus and Old Fashion. The Blue Cactus was sweet, and if you weren't careful, it'd be easy to quickly drink. The Old Fashion wasn't anything special, just your typical old fashioned. On to axe throwing, the space where you axe throw was well lit, and we appreciated the guy who worked there, coming by to show us how to axe throw since it was our first time! There are chalkboards to keep track of your score. Just remember that the drinks can't be kept in the area where you axe throw, which I wish was better communicated to us. Overall, the Groupon was a great deal. We had some issues scheduling a time, so I had to email a contact there to have a time reserved. We were pretty surprised to see how few people were there on a Friday night, so it was pretty easy to play the different games scattered in the main room. There were also a few cute places for photo-ops.

This hotel was located within the loop near the river, shops, bars and restaurants. The hotel rooms are basic and small. We were fortunate to get an upgraded room with two queen beds and an amazing view out the window of the city. The window was large and clean. The beds were comfy with ample pillows. Four pillows were provided. The hotel set up is a bit awkward. Room is best for one person as lacks storage for large luggage. Plus there is not a defined bathroom. The shower is within the bedroom. Fortunately the shower was frosted but you walk right into the bedroom so you must be comfortable with those you stay with. Plus the room does really have a deck and chair to work. The desk is a fold down from the wall. The chair for the deck is located on the wall and not really suitable for long term working on sitting as does not have a back to it. The best thing above this hotel are the staff. The front desk staff are super friendly and accommodating and aim to please. The bartender was super friendly and attentive as well. Lastly parking is not available right at the hotel. You have to walk two blocks. Plus parking cost 59 dollars and that's the discounted rate. Also not really a suitable place to drop luggage off. If you pull up to the front door, you are blocking traffic. Base on price of 400 dollars the night we stayed, I would say it's not worth the stay. Maybe it's worth 200 or less for Chicago.

It was no wonder when we arrived that there was a line out the door. We waited around 45 minutes, and the bouncer was a really nice fellow who kept track of the numbers and people at the door. Upon entering, we were immersed in a dimly lit retro-style lounge. It was quite loud inside and packed as we walked to our seats. The server was great at taking our orders and offering suggestions. I opted for the French 75, which featured sparkling wine and mixed gin, brandies, and citrus. The drink was delicious, but STRONG. I don't know what they put in the cocktails in America, but I am always finished after one drink. Needless to say, we were all struggling to finish our own drinks. My favourite touch was the coasters, I ended up keeping all of them so that I can reuse them at my galentines event next year. The 'bisous' with the kiss on the other side is a perfect touch! Imagine my shock when we didn't even make it past the bouncer because he was so rude, AS OTHER RECENT REVIEWS HAVE MENTIONED AS WELL! We had dinner nearby and walked to Bisous after, and saw there was a line of 5 or 6 people outside. We expected this as we knew Bisous is a first come, first serve bar. We were curious what the wait time would look like, so we approached the front door to ask a host or employee inside (we assumed there'd be a desk with an employee working it who could give us a wait time). We had no problem waiting, just wanted to see how long they estimated it would be! Before we could even fully open the door, the bouncer swung the door open from the other side and hit me with the door. I stumbled back a few steps and he looked at us and said, and I quote, "What do you want?". I laughed at first because I thought he was joking and putting on a tough guy act. He was not. We quickly explained we just wanted to see what the wait time was, and he said "don't you see there's a line outside?" We said yes, and explained we just wanted to know a rough estimated wait time. He just blankly stared at us while ushering us out. Both my boyfriend and I have worked in customer-service roles for a very, very long time. This encounter was not only extremely rude and unprofessional, but he also hit me hard enough with the door to send me stumbling back, and then said nothing about it and continued to address us in a tone that was nothing less than annoyed and irritated. We didn't end up going inside because that encounter left such a bad taste in our mouths. I don't believe in spending my money at establishments that don't treat their customers with the bare minimum respect they deserve! Bummed we didn't get to experience it, as I'm sure it was lovely inside and I can only hope the rest of the employees were much more kind and accommodating, or at least able to answer a simple question. Fire your "bouncer" (??) and hire someone with some basic customer service and communication skills!!

My sister missed a step on their staircase because the bar is very dimly lit. The manager witnessed this misstep and immediately asked her to leave, claiming she was "over served." She had yet to purchase a drink at this bar because she spent the first 30+ minutes waiting in line for the women's restroom. 2. The women's restroom line was extremely long, and several women were aggressively using the men's restroom instead. One of my guy friends was in a stall and had women banging on the door and yelling that he was taking too long. 3. I saw a woman walk in with a full backpack hidden under her coat. When security asked what was in it, she said "chips," and they allowed her in without inspecting the bag. That felt concerning from a safety standpoint. 4. The manager, Calvin, was very dismissive and cold when I tried to have a conversation with him about the events surrounding my sister's dismissal. He continued to insist she was over served and suggested she wait outside in the "nice weather." It was 30° and snowing. Figuring this conversation was going no where, I began chatting with one of the hostesses. I was asking for her recommendations where my group should go next in the area. During this convo I used an adjective that rhymes with duck and the manager, who was listening in, told me I had to leave because he claimed I was "swearing at his staff." No one was swearing at anybody? 5. Added this one last minute, after reading the owner's response to a previous review from another member of my group. I question the validity of his reply to save face. I personally went down to the women's restroom moments before I left, and waited in line with two female staff members who did not mention any closure. Additionally, we were told that The Pearl Club was closed to the public and reserved exclusively for our event. We were on one of the morning trolleys and there were two afternoon trolleys that were scheduled for 4pm and 6pm. Why would the bathrooms be closed to prepare for the public around 3/30pm when there was still multiple trolleys scheduled for the afternoon? It's unfortunate because the space itself is cute and intimate, and the hostesses and wait staff we interacted with were kind. However, the management response and overall experience make it unlikely I would return. I understand bars get busy during St. Patrick's Day weekend, but basic safety, communication, and professionalism should still apply.

The vibe is speakeasy-ish; the entrance is off the street in an alleyway but the interior is very nice, low light, and would be fun for a date night! The staff were attentive and very friendly. My friend got some shots, which were surprisingly good given they were kind of sweet, and I ordered the "mystic lamp" cocktail ($16) which was VERY memorable to me as someone that loves floral drinks -- it was very floral, slightly fruity, and had a lovely chunk of lychee it came with which was delicious! The drink was decent sized too; I've been charged a lot more for much less drink at other speakeasies (those of which I don't plan to visit again any time soon haha). In my opinion, this spot has the perfect combo of great drinks, nice ambiance, cool speakeasy-vibes, but also cheerfulness given the tiki-theme inside. I was excited for the experience having heard how busy it gets, blah blah. These positive reviewers need to seek out other tiki bars. After you negotiate the alley entrance and go down dangerously dark stairs, you are met with crazy boring decor. I kept thinking there had to be more right? The whole point of a tiki bar is to strike a mood, but hanging a very few polynesian masks on the wall, putting up a grass facade over the bar and dressing the servers in vaguely polynesian outfits is sad. I've seen private tiki bars at people's homes that are more exciting. Add to this a comparably boring music selection played far too loud over boomy lo-fi speakers and you'll wonder what's going on here. So what about the food and drink? Well, I could get that service at just about any bar in the world, so big deal. Maybe it would be better if you sat at the bar and chatted up the bartender. One could also go taste their rum selections and other cocktails in the Bamboo Room, but I hate that kind of elitist nonsense. That's never been what tiki bars were about. The drinks we sampled were okay at best. Even the namesake 3 Dots and A Dash cocktail was lackluster and used cheap cherries for the dots instead of classic Luxardos. (If you know, you know) The appetizers were okay, but way overpriced. 5 tiny spring rolls for $18. Come on guys, enough already. I'd rather go to the bar at the Polynesian Hotel at Disney than return here. This place is a hard pass.

The Berkshire Room is one of my favorite speakeasies in Chicago. While they offer a fantastic…read morecocktail menu and a full bar, I almost always order The Dealer's Choice. You simply choose your preferred spirit, flavor profile, and glassware, then let the mixologist create something just for you. It's one of my favorite cocktail experiences in the city, and they've never steered me wrong. What I especially appreciate is how knowledgeable the bartenders are. They're always happy to offer recommendations if you're unsure what to order, but they're equally excited to create something completely unique if you're feeling adventurous. Watching them craft each drink is part of the experience. I've even hosted a birthday gathering here in their private side room, where we enjoyed charcuterie boards alongside our cocktails. If you're just stopping in for drinks, though, I'd recommend grabbing dinner beforehand, as the food offerings are fairly limited. More often than not though, you'll find me sitting right at the bar. I love watching the bartenders showcase their craft and chatting with them about the incredible selection of spirits they have on hand. It's a great spot for anyone who genuinely appreciates well-made cocktails and the artistry behind them. I'm also a member of their loyalty program, which is well worth joining. It can be used at The Berkshire Room as well as several other excellent restaurants, making it an easy way to earn rewards while exploring some great dining spots around the city. Whether you're a cocktail enthusiast or simply looking for a sophisticated place to unwind, The Berkshire Room consistently delivers. I'll definitely be back for another Dealer's Choice soon! #YelpEliteSquad

Tucked away in the Acme hotel, the vibe is loungey with plenty of different types of seating. We came around midnight on a Friday and it was packed but we managed to find a cozy corner. For drinks, I've always enjoyed their "Dealer's Choice", which is a fun novelty. However, on my latest visit I decided to try the Frijolito ($18), which was basically a spin on an espresso martini but with mezcal. Wow! Perfectly balanced, unique, and delicious. For food, they offer some "bites" but I've not tried them. Our server was fine, nothing special. I can't remember ever having bad service here.
