This was my second time here but first time for dinner. I ordered the smokehouse chicken with a side salad for my appetizer. The salad took at least 15 min. My Onion rings were cold, the lettuce was brown and wilted, server constantly ran his fingers thru his hair while walking between tables which is unsanitary. I just got back from this place. My coworker and I got there around 5pm, it wasn't very busy yet. Awesome! I may be wrong, but I think our waitress' name was Bam Bam, and she was amazing. She knew her trade and was very thorough and professional. I had the brisket. Moist, hot and really flavorful. My buddy had the BBQ wings and some kind of MASSIVE appetizer. Definitely one of my favorites here in Columbus, their BBQ chicken is out of this world, great flavor and always cooked to perfection, I usually get steamed broccoli with it and have never had a bad meal here! The only reason I left off one star is the kitchen/wait staff has real problems when there's any kind of rush/busy period, wait times from ordering to getting your food can be an hour or almost that, so we just try to come when it's not usually like that. If the management would schedule/hire more staff for lunch/dinner rush it would help out with the problem so much. read more

First off the food here is great, five star worthy food no doubt. I had a barbecue burger and fries and my mom had a chicken and waffles. The food arrived perfect temperature, great flavor really impressive. The reason for my three stars was the wait, at no fault to our waiter it took over 30min for our food to get to us, kinda crazy wait time. Apparently this is something that happens all the time between 12-2pm so that's something to keep in mind if you visit. So when you go to this Smokey Bones you can expect great food, friendly service but possibly long wait times to get that food. read more

I don't know if the good cooks are present during the day or what... But I've been to this place 3 times during the evening and my food is always terrible. They also take too long to bring out your food. The last time I came to this place, my food was sitting under the warmer and the manager, waitresses, etc. kept walking past it. After a previous bad experience, we decided to give Smokey Bones another try and we will NOT BE BACK!!! Kids grilled cheese was the highlight of our lunch. Loaded cheese fries were fine. The Mag BBQ Nacho.....bad, bad, bad, bad!! The chicken was bad. My husband is a chef/kitchen manager and knew immediately the chicken was bad....it tasted odd and it smelled like ammonia...like old crab would smell. Alerted our server and she immediately offered to remove it from the bill, almost like it is a regular occurrence. She stated that the manager would come Speak with us and remove it from the bill. It was removed, but we never saw the manager. Also noticed on the receipt where they had the nachos taken off the bill it was noted that it was a "FOH Service Issue", which means front of house, instead of kitchen. We called it to our servers attention as we didn't want her blamed for the issue. We used to love eating at Smokey Bones we came to Columbus, but there is something inherently wrong. Horrible experience. First the wait time was long. We weree told one time, then had to wait longer. While waiting for an additional table, I was standing talking to the hostess at the hostess station. A waitress walks up and says to the hostess "look at that lady looking ignorant dancing " and points. My husband had the pulled pork and said it was good I had pulled pork and beef brisket everything was good except the beef brisket was not. There was alot of fat still on the beef. I'd like to think she was having a bad day and is usually better, as other servers around us seemed much more lively and attentive. This gal though, wanted to go home. My first ever visit here was met with an interesting surprise. I have never seen a hostess ever clear a table or make sure it is clean. Our waitress seemed hurried as she said she was trying to catch up. I told her to relax and not to hurry since we were in no rush to order. The waitress was working hard and desired the exceptional tip I left. The food was great though we got our appetizer maybe a few moments before our actual food arrived. Smokey Bones has been our go to for the past two years. After this night, we will never return. We arrived with a couple waiting to be seated. We were second on the list, we both waited for 10-15 minutes. After the 15 minutes of waiting both couples noticed 5 tables open. A family came in, waited for 5 minutes and was seated before us with no explanation. Here's the problem... the two couples were black and the family was white. I spoke with the manager, who couldn't control his servers delivering food with their mask below their chins, thanked me for voicing my concerns and sent me on the way. Let me start off by saying the staff is the gonna be the downfall of this once great restaurant. I witnessed a hostess texting and sitting down on her phone while I came into the restaurant and I waited to be greeting until she was done. After heading to the bar to sit the bar tendering watched me from across the bar sit down and did not make any effort to come service me. I was given the wrong drink when I was one of the three customers sitting at the empty bar. I had ordered a speciality cocktail from the menu and was given an awful completely wrong drink. Not once did the bar tender check if I was ok instead she walked away put headphones in and sat down behind the bar on a milk crate. Finally she made a walk by to drop off my check but never asked how my drink was or even if I wanted another drink she definitely earned a $0 tip from me. However through dealing with the immature staff I have to say the food was decent definitely didn't appear to be appealing in anyway but turned out to taste alright but do have to say $13 dollars for just Mac is a little over the top wished the dish was a little more creative. read more

The food was good, I loved the ribs, but the cleanliness wasn't so good, I had to ask to get the chairs cleaned, its like they just wipe the table and splashed it all on the chairs. When this place first opened I though "uh oh another chain bbq place" but the food is really good and very different for a change of pace. Its not like the local BBQ around here but doesn't try to be. It may be northern , western, eastern what ever, but it is tasty and quality meat. The sauces are very different but match well with the style of cooking of the meat. The menu has been tweaked since first opening to accommodate local taste I think. There are TV's all over the place and you control what TV you hear at your table (great idea) Service is fine but because of the location they tend to get crowded. Well this is one of the lowest reviews I have given. I truly hate to only give two stars but overall that's the best I could do. I will say those were for service because the food really sucked. I have been a fan of their smoked wings for years. I came on a Tuesday evening when it was slow. Most of the place was empty. I got a wing and baby back combo for the first and last time ever. The wings tasted dry and very over cooked. I think they were cooked this past weekend. The baby backs were cooked Friday and lubed up with sauce when I placed my order. I wondered why they were so confused when I asked for no sauce on my wings. They were hoping to hide those too. I blame the chief for not checking plates before they are served. Because I sat at the bar service was good. Based off this dining experience and other reviews they may need a change in management and kitchen staff. Wait staff is having to apologize to much for the kitchen. Can't understand how the food could be so bad with so many people standing around the kitchen area. BLUF Dine at your own risk!!! read more

Went here on a Friday night, wasn't to busy so I sat at the bar. First they were out of 50% of the beer I drink. Mostly out of all their IPAs . Then I ordered nachos and chicken chili. I think I had maybe a spoon full of chili on the chips. The service was pretty slow for having three bartenders. Last I ordered the smokehouse burger, but she ordered me a smokehouse chicken sandwich. So I was stuck eating shit I didn't want. I'll never go back. The food isn't even that good. NEVER GOING BACK!! Had one of the worst dining experiences ever at this place! Server Ignored Us Most of the time, walked by grunting, and rarely spoke words to us!! Food took 40 minutes to receive!! All of the food was cold!! The order was incorrect! I had a loaded baked potato that felt like it came out of the refrigerator. When I told the server it was cold she picked it up off my plate with her bare hands, carried to the kitchen, microwaved it, and brought the same potato back! My son ordered brisket and got bbq chicken breast. The meals were supposed to come with bread but served without it. The plates were huge, but the food portions were extremely small, cold, dry, & nasty!! This place is ok. It's a chain and I highly doubt that barbecue is done by a master barbecue master on site. Expect chain style, factory production food. That's the best I'll describe it.
