I would like to start out by saying it was Easter, so I will cut them slack on seating/reservations as I've previously worked in food service. We had a group of 14. Respectfully, I called ahead to see if they could seat us/what the wait would be. They let me know over the phone they could seat the 14 of us back to back but not at the same table. When we arrived, the host asked how many, I told her 14. I mentioned I had just called. She told us she could seat us together and tables would be on opposite sides of the restaurant. I restated I just called and was told we could be seated back to back. She rudely said "I didn't say that we are full with reservations". I responded "Um ok" Another person in our party spoke up and mentioned she had called ahead over a week ago and they told her they did not do reservations, only walk-ins. The host walked us to the tables and threw the menus down on the table, we mentioned we had 14, she then said "is it 18 now?" We asked were she wanted us to sit as she had only given us enough menus/seats for 10, she rudely pointed to two booth and a booth across an aisle way. We had multiple individuals in our party who could not fit into a booth comfortably, which was obvious. We choose to leave after requesting a table and being told that wasn't an option as they weren't available (with a half empty restaurant). We will not be back. read more

Where do I start? We sat near the bathroom that smelled like a whorehouse at low tide. I don't think it's been cleaned since the Clinton administration we ordered an appetizer which came out just before our food came. It worked out well because it was so dry. we were better off eating sawdust. Our entrées were overcooked, our server it was her first day. Not sure if it was her first day on this planet, though because she was dumb as a box of rocks if I was the manager, I would fire her. I ordered the brisket burger I've had better food at the ball game, I didn't know brisket came in a can. My son ordered the chicken. I didn't realize the Halloween stores were still open to sell rubber chickens but I guess that's where they got it. I got the bill when I got the bill after two beers, I thought I just bought a house, I didn't realize I needed a mortgage. I will never eat or recommend this glorified outhouse again don't waste your money go to a soup kitchen you'll get better food and service. When this place goes into bankruptcy, I will throw a party. read more

Disappointing and overpriced...the food looks better than it tastes. This use to be a spot I very much enjoyed going to a couple of years ago. After a few awful experiences with overdone dried out chicken, this is the first I've been back in over a year. I will say the customer service has much improved but the food was just ok. I had gone with a group of friends and everyone had similar comments. The fried pickles had more breading then there was pickle. The chicken Cesar salad was good but the chicken was dry. My buddy had the waffle brunch; the waffle was underdone, the burger was medium instead of medium rare, and the meal had no flavor according to him. I had the 8 count Memphis dry rub wings with sweet potato fries. The wings were actually cooked well but didn't really have any smokiness or flavor. If it wasn't for the sauces then it would have been pretty bland. The sweet potato fries were good and even better dipped in ranch. After eating, my stomach began to not feel well and I became nauseous. There are many other local options that I personal would choose over here. I really do hope the restaurant can find better consistency with producing food that not only looks amazing but has the taste to back it up. As said before, it use to be a go to place for me but just seems overpriced for the quality I'm receiving. I may give it a go again in the future with the hopes there has been improvement. read more

We were a large party, and Kaelin gave great service. Food was good, but she was outstanding.

It is my understanding that this location ( Florence, Kentucky) was closed for some time due to "staffing issues". There were other issues as well, because they exist in the product they put out. The term "put out" is not an expression of endearment. It is an indication that there are serious problems that still exist, and either a much more concentrated effort must be made to remedy these problems or this location will need to CLOSE permanently. Just to show that I am not making things up in this post, My wife and I ordered rib tips ( better k own as "crispy beef jerky covered in barbecue sauce...) and a 24 piece chicken wing order ( fried or baked dry, containing garlic and parmesan...WITH an over abundance of salt flavoring...). Nine "pieces" of rib tips for $12. The whole order was $55.... The dinner was near inedible. This place needs a lot of help in the kitchen. This is why I stated that they aren't done resolving staffing issues. The kitchen needs help, lots of it. The other issue is: I almost walked out without paying. The hostess handed me my order and I had to tell HER that I had not paid for my order. Has Smokey Bones had problems with payment methods and the handling of such? Hmmmmmm. Too much salt, Overcooked wings and pork, If others have had trouble with the food, they are not going to go back The date of service was 8/21/2022. The last four numbers of the receipt # is 0017. I feel bad for those working there and are making an effort to make customers experiences the best possible. But it's just not working. It doesn't show in the "finished product". Food is very expensive plus they add on for side items that should already come with your meal. The 1/2 bbq chicken it wasn't done all the way. Had to ask for cheese on a side salad at a 1.00 something extra charge for a small to go cup. Cousins food had a piece of wire in her bacon. They did take that off but our bill was still 75.00 for 3 adults and 2 kids. Butter and sour cream doesn't come with a baked potato you have to ask for that. So the first time we went to this place .. ordered the grilled cheese brisket sandwich was amazing and delicious.. this was back in April ... just went and ordered the same thing The cheese wasn't melted and I got the biggest piece of lard added to my sandwich.. ewwww.. my bread was toasted like in a toaster with no butter and then possibly tossed on the grill for a second... Stopped in for lunch. It was a bit quiet, but as usual it was amazing. Bobie was fantastic, and even better, they have banana pudding now! One of my favorites as a kid!. Smoked wings were fantastic as usual. Spoke to the manager Torres, he was pleasant and informative. Had us try the new rib tips and they were amazing!. We haven't been by much with the things going on but we will be back soon for sure!!! read more

My buddy and I went here for a burger and some drinks. For $12 I expected a pretty decent burger but the meal in its entirety was - meh. As my friend put it, it didn't take us to Flavor Town. The burger had nearly no flavor. For a BBQ place this is unacceptable. The drinks were fine, I had a couple draft but the peach tea drink was entirely too sweet but perhaps I should have known that. Never again will we go to Smokey Bones. There was 10 of us in our group but that shouldn't take 2 1/2hours to get our meal. Salads usually come out first, not here. We all had our food and they said the salads would be another hour. They came in ten minutes or so, think communication is a problem here. The food quality is not good at all, could hardly find the meat on the ribs, some of the food was not hot. It was not good will not go again!!! read more

Ordered a $5 pulled pork sandwich from the happy hour menu plus a side salad I paid extra for. Server didn't bother to tell me I had to pay full price because I wasn't sitting at the bar area, although it also said "dine-in only." Charged me full price $12.99 for a small sandwich-only. Why include the Happy Hour menu to Dine-In customer tables when they can't even order from it? The apathy for a 'new' server was astounding. Won't be coming back. read more

It was very good! Let me start by saying our server was fantastic and made the experience great. We ordered fried pickles for an app- delicious. I got bbq chicken and hubs got the ribs. Both fantastic. Love the extra sauces on the table. My one issue was the greeter- had to finish a convo with a coworker and ignored us for 2 minutes. It was just rude. She could have ruined the whole experience but the server and food changed our mind! Thank you! read more

I want to give this place 2.5 stars, but since I can't, I'm rounding down. The food is ok, not great. The sauces are ok, not great. The smoked meat is ok, not great. And the service was ok, but not great. See, the thing with good BBQ places is they have to have great smoked meat. Good flavor, spices and not dried out. It has to have great sauces. And the sides have to work well with the meat. (I also prefer to have a really good glass of iced tea). Overall, I wasn't impressed with smokey bones. Every thing was okay, but not great. I am going to make this short and sweet! We are here on Thanksgiving day, visiting from out of town! Very few restaurants are open today there are crowds at all of them. Understandable there would be somewhat of a wait. But, what we have experienced is completely completely completely unacceptable. Only about 1/3 of this restaurant has people seated in it. Management has determined that their carryout customers are more important than their customers in the dining room. The section we are in is filled with people who have been sitting here for at least an hour, and have not gotten their food. Again this is extremely poor management. They should have not taken to go orders or DoorDash orders and focus exclusively on the customers in the house. If they're short on staff in the kitchen or the weight staff, that's one thing but to ignore your customers in-house over carrier. Customers is completely inexcusable. The poor weight staff here has to continually apologize to everybody. I feel so sorry for them. I personally would like to slap. The manager upside the head with a piece of food. I haven't seen miss management like this in at least three weeks... Last time we saw anything this pathetic was at a culvers in Fort Wayne, who was doing the same thing. Giving priority to the drive-through over the people who were actually sitting in the restaurant. Being short staffed is no excuse for ignoring the people in your store. Took a few minutes before we were served, BUT when Matt got to us he apologized for the wait & did a GREAT job. Orders were correct, got to us quick, kept drinks full, & followed up a couple times. Polite & friendly. New manager also checked in. Ribs were tender & didn't need sauce to compensate for anything. Sides were good. Restaurant was very clean. Nothing to complain about here. We went for dinner tonight and wow this place needs a major overhaul on management and from some higher ups. Only 3 FOH people including the manager. We were going to get food, but it took 20 minutes to even get our drinks. I ordered the December special cocktail thinking like it'd be no issue making it and yeah I was wrong. It was a waitress making it since the bartender quit apparently and she had me basically helping her and she gave me top shelf tequila in it even though it didn't call for that type all because she couldn't find it. ‍ My husband got a Jack and Coke and she asked how much Jack he wanted in it and he said whatever it's supposed to have and she poured almost the full glass with Jack. We were considering food until we realized everyone around us was struggling to get their food and bills paid out and really anything. There was only like 5 parties there if that. read more

I haven't been to go to a Smokey Bones in a long time. It was not bad. We came around 3:30pm and it was really dead. But it was ok, the waitress was polite she was attentive without feeling like she was hovering over us. The food was good I had the turkey avocado burger and my husband and I split one of the milkshakes. If you like bourbon (a lot) get the bourbon blackberry lemonade it was a little heavy on the bourbon. My husband had the margarita and he enjoyed it. I recommend this place. read more

Smokey Bones hosted us for our sons wedding rehearsal dinner this evening and we could not have had a better experience. The GM Jim worked with us long distance to coordinate our party of 21 which included a variety of appetizers, salads, entrees and dessert And they executed flawlessly. The culinary manager Billy was constantly present to ensure the food quality was perfect, which it was. Our server SauSha was exceptionally, especially with our infant grandchild, really helping to keep him happy and quiet. Great place and will definitely return. read more

We have been to Smokey Bones numerous times and I thought it was time for a review. We went last Wednesday evening since it was our anniversary (we had just returned from a trip over the new year) and thought why cook when we know we always get a good meal and service here. That night was no exception. It was early (around 5 pm) and there was plenty of tables but decided to sit at the bar instead. The bartender, Sam, greeted us warmly and was on the entire visit. We started with a couple of beers and then ordered dinner. I created my own combo of smoked sausage and smoked wings and my wife ordered the hand pulled pork. The meal was served fairly quickly and as usual everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The sausage has just a little bit of spice and the casing had a real good snap. The wife loved her pulled pork and sampled the different bbq sauces. I normally get the steamed broccoli as a side and the wife decided to try it too. Now she knows why I get it. It is always cooked just done so it is not soggy or hard. The seasoning is spot on and you get a decent helping of it. I also got the bbq baked beans which have a nice smokey flavor too. Sam asked for our Bones club card at the end of the meal and I was surprised to find I had $10 in credit from previous purchases. I mentioned that I had a coupon that I forgot to being in for our anniversary in the club but she assured me if I brought it in next time they would still honor it. We will be back. A+ on the food and A+ for Sam on the service. read more

Ordered wings and they didn't even glaze them. For how expensive it is, I would expect for my wings to be hand tossed and have plenty of glaze.
