This is a late review for an experience a few months back. Decided to give it a try because who doesn't love some delicious barbeque. We ordered brisket and wings (see photos) and also brisket tacos. Our favorite part of the meal was the brisket tacos hands down. Everything about the combination of flavors, the avocado cream, and the meat was just... *chefs kiss* The brisket on it's own was a little dry but nothing the BBQ sauce on the side couldn't fix. The meat melted in your mouth and just fell apart in your hands. The wings were the only part of the meal we didn't absolutely enjoy. Personally I think the rub we chose wasn't to our liking because the chicken itself was fine we just didn't love the taste. I think next time we're going to stick to the tacos and try one of the burgers/sandwiches. read more

It's a small mom and pop shop with a great patio area great for dates or small group of friends. Smells great once you walk up to it and they are know for their sandwiches. Got two 6 piece wings and side Mac and cheese. Mac and cheese was different and was cheesy and good. The wings on the other hand where a little burnt and crisp for my taste. The sauce is pretty basic and nothing special. I will definitely have to try the sandwich next time. We've been looking for some really good BBQ here in Tucson and we may have found it! This is kind of a little hole-in-the-wall place, which often proves to have great food. Having never been here, we splurged and got the 4 meat combo meal with four sides. We knew we would be taking much of it home for another meal or two, but we wanted to try lots of items. For meat we ordered turkey, brisket, pulled pork, and tri tip. All of them were excellent, tender and tasty. We asked for the sauce on the side and they were happy to accommodate our request. Our sides were coleslaw (creamy and flavorful with fresh crisp cabbage), breaded okra (haven't had that in years and it was crispy, not a bit slimy like okra can be), onion rings (crispy and flavorful, but not very many of them), and potato salad (crunchy and tasty, pretty traditional). It also came with beverages. Our friends tried some of the sandwiches and agreed that this was some of the best BBQ they've found in town too. They had a small dining room, plus several tables on an outdoor patio. We didn't sit outside because the traffic on the street was noisy. With everything going on my wife and I are supporting the local Tucson establishments providing options for pick up. Do your part! Parking: Good parking around the restaurant! Facilities: Everything seemed to be on good shape. The inside doesn't provide many options for seating but it appeared they had some good outdoor covered seating as well. Service: They only had a couple folks running the shop. I'm sure they're limiting access for their staff right now. All things considered, they provided great service! Food: I'd say I'm a pretty tough critic when it comes to BBQ. I love it! We enjoyed the meat items... pulled pork sandwich and brisket fry basket. The sides, baked beans and cornbread, were just OK. Great BBQ and speedy service! Tried to go yesterday, but they were closed due to a family emergency... so we stopped by for lunch today, and the 4 in my party ordered and had food in front of us in well under 10 minutes. I ordered the 2 meat plate with pulled pork and brisket. All meats come sauced, and they were delicious! The pork was flavorful and the brisket was juicy! I had Mac n cheese and potato salad for sides. The Mac is thick and creamy, but the potato salad was definitely the stand out! Inside seating is limited. We sat on there patio which is shaded, and they turned on fans for us, which made it very pleasant. Overall, great spot to fix that BBQ craving! read more

It's a BBQ joint but the burgers were the bomb! Cooked to order, they come with one side. I got fries, my husband got onion rings. The burgers come on a brioche bun with American cheese, caramelized onions, lettuce, mustard, and tomato. Then on the side, dill pickle slices, pickled red onions, and jalapeños. YUM!! This is a Tucson must! Came into town and while visiting the nail salon in the same plaza I asked for any good lunch recommendations and they said to visit Smokey mo. Man everything was delish. Best tritip I've had in a while. My kids loved the Mac and cheese and corn bread as well. I think they must have heard my daughter talking about how good it was the young lady at the counter gave her an extra piece. I drove out of my way back to this location for good eating barbecue in Tucson, Az. This is my second visit here. I met the front man Brandon Johnson (Manager). We had a pleasant conversation. I looked over the chalkboard menu as it's pretty busy with information. My opinion it's still the best barbecue in Tucson. The prices have increased some and you still get a lot of food. The explanation was reasonable due to the increase in meat prices and passed on to the customers. Sandwich $10. I had the Tri-tip Sandwich with the sides of potato salad and cheese macaroni.  It's was the combination order.  The menus is not deceiving, but the large print is for the sandwich price only and in smaller print subdued is the additional charge for the sides if you order the combination and drink is included and refills. You can easily over look that. So expect to pay about $13 + on order for the combo meal. Your attention is driven to the sandwich price only so. So my suggestion is write in brighter chalk to have your attention drawn the the additional charge order the combo meal as well. They do give a veterans discount, but you have to ask for it. I was wearing a military cover proud for my prior service, but it was not a hint for him to ask me. So the discount wasn't given and I did not expect it and I didn't ask. I was made aware of it as another customer order was over heard asked for it and he wasn't wearing a cover. Little details. But, next time... you bet. I am happy he give the veterans and active duty a small break in appreciation. Quality as I expected very good and I was not disappointed. Two orders of the combinations and it was for take out. They provided the set up and napkins in the bag. You still have a lot of choices available. Barbecue Brisket, Pulled Pork, Pork Ribs, Chicken and Turkey and assorted sides. So there's good choices for you barbecue aficionados as I called it. Yes, it's good as it gets. 5 stars from me on my second visit. read more

I love the brisket at Smokey Mo! So good, the ribs are also a favorite of mine. I always get the Combo Meal with 4 meats, 4 sides, and 2 drinks. It's a great deal for two people; I get to try a little bit of everything and I almost always have leftovers. Smokey Mo makes the best side sauces, particularly the white one which has horseradish in it. I'd honestly buy a bottle of it if I could! The atmosphere here is one of the best, especially for a BBQ joint (not throwing shade to BBQ places, but hear me out). It's ALWAYS clean, spotless even, and with a white tiled/white walled look any speck of sauce would show, so they really keep the place clean. The tunes are good and it's not overwhelmingly loud! The atmosphere is actually relaxing but with a fun vibe. I don't recall seeing any TVs, so at the very least I wasn't bombarded with commercials, news, or sports. I think these qualities set it apart from other places I've been to. Plus, the design is very contemporary and good looking. The only reason why I gave it four out of five stars is because my collard greens were so salty it made my eyes water. But I've had them before and it wasn't like that. I've been here once shortly after it opened, and it was pretty good. But it's been a while... Tonight, we came here for a quick to-go dinner. The manager was friendly and welcoming, an accommodated our request to add a brioche bun to our 2 meat/ 2 side combo. I chose the hot links (mmm) and my partner got the pulled pork. They asked if we wanted sauce on the meats (we did) which was nice. We chose the potato salad and coleslaw for sides. I'm not a fan of coleslaw so, no comment, but the potato salad is solid. I like how it has big chunks of potato in it and smoked paprika on top. Oh, and it only took them about 3 mins to get our food together once we ordered. We did takeout around 6:30pm on a Saturday night. We were bummed they were out of ribs. The brisket was my favorite- just the right amount of fat to keep it juicy but not too fatty. The sauce was good, with a bit of sweetness that I like. The pulled pork was good also. Juicy and tender. Sides were a mixed bag. Mac and cheese was my favorite. The beans were decent. The greens were good, not too mushy but slightly more vinegary than I like. The potato salad has much more mustard than we prefer. Cornbread was very dry. We wanted to order peach cobbler, but they were out. All in all, I'd come back again for brisket and I'd like to try the ribs and cobbler. Legit BBQ! Party of 4 so we tried everything. Both my son and I got the Brisket it was so good...nice and smoky with just the right amount of fat. I got the hot links as well which had great flavor.
