Visiting south Dallas today and came across this gem. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the sweetest lady. We had already looked at the menu so we knew what we wanted. The lady noticed I did not order and I let her know I didn't eat meat. Her response was well let me let you taste our sides that do not have meat! All the sides are great btw. Tried this place after it being recommended. I tell you it did not disappoint! Man, it's clean and the staff is very professional and friendly. I had the rib plate with okra and potato salad. The ribs were off the bone tender and the okra was hot and fresh. The potato salad didn't miss either. I will definitely return to try additional items. The food could use help! HELP! Help!! No, really!!! HELP!!! The turkey is sliced bologna y'all. WHY! . That's not even real food. I wouldn't give that to my dogs. Much less eat it myself. Yeah this is gonna be a mean one! The brisket was dry, the ribs barely had any flavor to them very fatty. The green beans were OK nothing to write home about. The service was slower than molasses, pouring out a tree. Took them 38 minutes, we were the first ones in line, for four plates. The ambience had two televisions playing in the background. They did have a photo op, which was nice and a fake bull with a Mexican hat. I probably will never come to this place again and I usually always give restaurants a second chance because maybe they were off but unfortunately Lunch is only an hour and if I can't sit down and eat my food in half an hour and drive 10 or 15 minutes to and fro then it's really not worth it. If the food is not good and it was expensive too $16 for a turkey sandwich that isn't even real turkey come on people we could do better than that. Two meat plate with two sides, two slices of bread for $28.42 with tax. Take away their soul, food card and barbecue card. Oh, I forgot to mention that MR. Man assembling your plate had an attitude as I stood at the counter waiting for my order. Four of us ate here on Saturday afternoon. None of us have been there before, but we looked at their menu on yelp ahead of time and it looked pretty good so off we went. We ordered one chopped brisket sandwich, one sliced brisket plate with fried cabbage and macaroni and cheese, and one catfish basket with french fries. Sliced brisket = 4 stars Chopped brisket = 4 stars Catfish = 5 stars Sides = 5 stars Sliced brisket was really tender and juicy. The bark had a good flavor. The chopped sandwich had a good amount of barbecue sauce, not too much and not too little, and overall very good. Both the fried cabbage and the macaroni and cheese are a little bit spicy, which we liked, but if you do not like spice, you might want to be aware of that. The sides were delicious as were the french fries that came with the catfish basket. The catfish was really the star of the show. It was hot, freshly prepared, and delicious. They also had some good looking desserts, but we were so full that We weren't able to try any. The inside is comfortable with tables and a few booths. We were on our way to see the Los Lobos show (fantastic!) at the Longhorn Ballroom in Dallas when we saw Smokin' and Rollin' BBQ Restaurant right across the street. We decided to give it a try. We ordered the catfish basket because it was on special. The catfish was very good and crispy and flaky and not oily or greasy. It came with fries, and they were also exceptionally good, hot, and crispy. There were a few dill pickle chips and a whole jalapeño pepper and of course tartar sauce was included. I recommend this place highly if you are in the neighborhood, or even if you are not in the area, it is worth the trip. A special shout out for the super clean and modern bathrooms! We live in NW Dallas and saw a TT that they weren't getting foot traffic. We drove down and while Google maps tried her best to keep us away, we finally found it. Nice and clean and friendly staff. The highlights were the Mac and cheese, sausage, Texas twinkies and my husband loved the fried cabbage (I don't like cooked cabbage). I drive by here everyday was craving a baked potato and wanted to try something different. I have my favorite barbecue place. Decided to give this one a try. I ordered a baked potato. I also ordered a 2 meat plate came Mac and cheese and potato salad 2 slices of bread and container of barbecue sauce my choice of meats was chicken ribs. Second plate was link brisket bread barbecue potato salad and Mac and cheese. The service was great I give it a for excellent. The ambience is clean and lots of table to bring the whole family. Very western. And bathroom super clean the whole place was squeaky clean. The gentleman in the back kept it clean after every customer they would wipe down everything. Cashier was very friendly and did not forget my name when I had to come back to grab some jalapeño. I would of liked it if they had options on sauce like mild or hot sauce. I have been to places where they give pickles and jalapeño with baked potato this place does not offer that on the side with this. Now we get to the food if you like smoked tender and meat falls of from bone this is your place the potato salad was good the Mac and cheese was good too. My favorite was the links and the ribs. My son really liked the baked potato. I was not a fan of their baked potato. Don't get me wrong is good but I like my potato with hot spice barbecue sauce. Maybe that's why I did not like it. But my son does not eat spicy food and he said it was delicious. My next trip I will try the fish basket. Overall all good was good. I recommend this nice clean friendly place. read more
