Friday afternoon for lunch at 12:15pm. The restaurant was not busy, with no other guests in the dining room, and two parties outside. One other party arrived during our time spent in the dining room. We were greeted warmly and seated. Our friendly waitress came by and took our order for drinks, and when she brought the drinks back, we were ready to order. I ordered a beef brisket sandwich along with a cucumber onion salad for $11.99. I also ordered a Sprite for $2.99 My friend ordered the pulled pork barbecue sandwich with macaroni and cheese as a side for $11.99. He also ordered a Coca-cola for $2.99 After about a 7 to 10 minute wait, our lunch arrived. My beef brisket was well smoked and juicy. Closer inspection revealed the smoke rings. Chris's famous barbecue sauce, accompanied the sandwich, plus also a little bit in a little cup on the side. This was served on a brioche? Type bun, which was soft and tasty, lightly toasted . This sandwich was on point, it hit all the buttons. The cucumber onion salad was a well chosen side, vinegar, yet sweet, and fresh cucumbers. Spot on, I would order this again and again. My friend loved his pulled pork sandwich with the famous Chris's barbecue sauce, also served on a brioche? type bun. As a pulled pork fan, he told me this was as good as it gets for the sandwich. He also loved the mac & cheese side. The total bill was $29 and change, and a 20% tip was left. So the total out the door it was $36. At 11:99 per sandwich and a side, this was a great deal! I don't think I'm disappointed in was the fact that there weren't too many guests patronizing this wonderful restaurant. Come on Southington step it up! This place is a hidden gem.

My wife and I have come to fall more and more in love with Smokin' With Chris as time goes by. You don't need to travel to Kentucky for this Bourbon style pit BBQ cuisine but if you close your eyes, you'll think you have. The pork belly burnt ends with collard greens and cornbread has become my favorite. The flavors of each item is stellar but together in one bite? Explosive in the best ways. Strong family vibes and friendly staff give you a real sense of south/western hospitality. I've personally been there a half dozen times and the consistency of their amazing choices never disappoints. The prices are VERY reasonable as many great options (like my favorite) can be scored for under $20 a plate. We also didn't wait long for a seat and our food came out quick and obviously fresh and made to order. Load up the family and bring a big appetite! This is a great place to make yourself at home and "sit a spell."

Been looking for some good BBQ in CT and this place was great! Serving sizes pretty large, service was friendly / quick. Parking does tend to fill up on a busy Saturday night , though there is a alot of it ! Tried both the house Mac which has a nice mild spicy kick to it , BBQ sauce was good and corn bread tasted nice and fresh. Restaurant was nice and cool.

i was really stoked to come here since it's been on my list for a minute! we ordered the brisket queso dip and i liked the chunks of brisket, flavor, and the chips were very nice and crispy! for my main, i ordered the meat lovers specials and opted for the sloppy spare ribs, pulled pork, brisket, mac and cheese, and cornbread. the best part of this entire meal was the sloppy spare ribs, even though they could've been more tender, the flavor and taste was amazing! unfortunately, the bbq sauce on the pulled pork was overly tangy and overpowering. i also wasn't a big fan of the brisket, it was watery and lacked vibrancy. the mac and cheese and cornbread were delicious though! this dish also comes with slider rolls and they were sadly midly tough/hard. would come back here for those sloppy spare ribs!

Very helpful waitstaff that offer suggestions to get the full effect of the menu. Did the meet lovers with brisket/pork and ribs with beans and collards. Also tossed in some chili. Great little place that has plenty of locals. Great beer selection as well with local brews.

A friend of mine wanted to have some BBQ and suggested we come here for dinner. There was plenty of parking around the restaurant. We walked into the restaurant and opted to sit outside. It was a nice day for it too. Outside there was a bunch of seating and there was a large smoker where you can smell the delicious meat. I ordered the Yabba Dabba Doo, which was a smoked beef rib. I had it with a jalapeño corn bread and collard greens. The waitress was personable and stated I won't be disappointed by this entree. She was not wrong. The smoke rib was delicious and very tender. I love the Smokey taste of the bbq sauce. My friend was jealous he didn't ordered it. It looks like we have to come back again so he can get a chance to order this dish! Can't wait to try their other dishes.

Shrimp with goat cheese and bacon barbecued the sides were grits, and broccoli slaw. Amazing!

We have been going to this quaint, rustic, smoke house restaurant for years. The service is always efficient and friendly. The food has never disappointed. On our last visit I got my favorite food item that was on special for that week. Once again it was so yummy. I recommend trying them soon!

Ambience: it's was as expected. A cute bbq joint with paper tablecloths. Felt like I was in BBQ country. The food was very good! I had the chili to start- it was very smoky and rich. I would recommended if you wanted something small for personal/individual. Next up was the pulled pork sandwich- tender, lacked a little flavorful. I expected a little more spice but paired with the BBQ sauce, it was yummy! The sauce was smoky and tangy which gave the sandwich the flavor it needed. The sides stole the show- the broccoli salad was a fresh accompaniment. Needed it with all the heavy foods. The Mac and cheese was ooey gooey- and perfectly what I want from a homemade dish. Worth every calorie

There was a sense of Deja Vu when we drove into their parking lot, because at a bare minimum, TD Homers, Bickford's, and I think Howard Johnsons were here once upon a time. As far as casual dining modestly priced. "family" restaurants go; Ellie's Farmhouse was about as good as it gets. The interior is spacious and I liked the way the booths and seating in general were well spaced so you weren't on top of another party. The dining room has a country feel to it, with wide wood plank flooring. Service was stellar and we have to give a shout-out to our wonderful server Dawn. She was everything you want in a server -personable, funny, entertaining, informative, and just plain excellent. Our lunch started off with an unusual complimentary dish. Have you ever had apple slices sprinkled with cinnamon as a free starter before? I bet your answer was "no". Their menu offers breakfast and lunch from 8:00 - 2:00 during the week and until 3:00 on the weekend. I asked Dawn why Ellie's isn't open for dinner, and she said it was the owner's decision so he could spend more time with his family every day! We both went into the breakfast menu for lunch and my wife chose a Western Omelet with onions, peppers, ham, cheddar cheese, Served with one slice of toast and your choice of home fries, hashbrowns, or tots for $14.50. I went for their Breakfast Burrito with scrambled eggs, shredded potatoes, peppers, onions, black beans, pepper jack cheese, fresh guacamole with chipotle aioli and sour cream on the side for $12. It was offered with the same choice of home fries, hashbrowns, or tots. Added protein will cost you $2. I didn't add any protein, but I did ask for hot sauce and Dawn let me know their hot sauce is house made and has a $1 surcharge. My reasonably priced $3 iced coffee was strong and flavorful and very good. Both portions were enormous so half of each came home with us. My burrito was delicious, and that hot sauce was pretty much at the upper limit of my tolerance threshold. We were both very impressed with every aspect of our lunch at Ellie's.

As I walked through the front doors, I noticed kegs alongside on the floor. This was kind of a turn off, kind of reminds me of a dive bar. So my mentality kicked in that we were going into a dive bar serving food. I kinda get the sketchy feeling. Once we were seated, and menus placed, we were served iced water A few minutes later, the server came back and took our order. My friend ordered a cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, and some string french fries. I ordered the 1/2 smoked chicken, which came with two sides. I chose the rattlesnake beans and the creamy macaroni and cheese. Also include included was cornbread I originally wanted the street corn, as a side, but it was not available. Our lunches came quick, and my friend only ate half the french fries and cheeseburger, as she wasn't really turned on by them. The smoked chicken was fairly dry, with a very interesting smoked flavor to it that I can't put my finger on. I eat about 1/3 of it. Left the rest on the plate. The creamy macaroni and cheese was out of bounds top-notch. I could've eaten this all day. The rattlesnake rice and beans were just OK. The rice was cooked pretty good, and was seasoned well. The beans had a weird taste. Now thinking of this side dish, I was hoping for raw onions to be on top, but they were nowhere to be found. It'll be nice if there was chopped raw onions to go with this. The cornbread was delicious. I ate about half of it. It was a generous slice. While the server was fairly attentive, as she only checked in to fill the water glasses and ask how lunch was. She didn't ask us if we wanted a desert or coffee. Being old folks this would've been a great up for us, but it didn't happen. I had to ask for the check. I'm not sure if I would come back. I think this might be a one and done. The vibe just didn't hit it for me. Restrooms were clean. The restaurant was clean; the silverware clean. I don't know. It just was like a funky type layout and those beer kegs kinda sent the wrong tone to me as a guest. Lunch for the two of us was $40 and change and I left a $10 tip. We didn't have any cocktails or mock tails, we didn't have coffee or dessert either. From what I understand, the owner was near the exit when we left, not even a smile or a thank you for coming in...

Crispy on the outside, packed with well-seasoned chicken inside. Good spice, not overpowering. Came with a salsa and a ketchup-mayo style sauce, both worked, but the salsa had a little more life to it. Before that, warm ciabatta hit the table with a house-made dipping sauce. Oil-based with garlic, blue cheese, and a few other layers going on. The blue cheese gave it a subtle kick without taking over. Nice way to start. Now to the burger, the Luger Burger. I'm assuming it's a nod to the classic steakhouse, but didn't get full confirmation. The sauce is made in-house: slightly sweet, a little acidic (I picked up balsamic), smooth texture. It's a good sauce, it just needed a bigger voice on this burger. The burger itself is large. And I mean large. Menu said thick-cut bacon... that wasn't the case. Not a dealbreaker, but noticeable. Now I'm going to get a little critical, because this is where it matters. The burger needed more salt. There's a lot of beef here, and it can absolutely handle it. Even something as simple as salting the tomato would've helped bring things together. If the bacon had actually been thick-cut, that alone might've bridged the gap. This was a very beef-forward burger, to the point where the supporting flavors barely showed up. The patty felt a bit too tightly packed, which gave it a denser bite and let the beef dominate the whole experience. A looser grind or lighter hand forming it would've made it more tender and allowed everything else to come through. It also needed more acid. The Luger sauce was applied lightly, so either lean into it more or bring in something else, a pickle, a sharper onion, something to cut through the richness and balance it out. The bun was soft, nicely toasted, and held up well, which isn't easy with a burger this size. Fries were hand-cut, properly salted, and exactly what you want. No complaints there. Overall, this is a great spot. Clean, comfortable, nicely decorated. Staff was excellent. Food was good, with flashes of being really good. With a few small tweaks, mainly balance and execution on the burger, this could easily jump to the next level.
