Sweet bread is placed on trays for you.

Excellent service and the tamales and sweet bread are the best in the area. Recommend the tamales, they are perfect size and the masa is light and fluffy. Sweet bread is delicious and goes great with coffee in the morning.

    "Pork" tamale. All dough.

Been here several times. Pan Dulce is always on point. Tamales, that's a different story. They used to be really good. I don't know if they changed the recipe but they're dry, barely any meat and lack the flavor they used to have. The service was ok this time. Inside is spacious, good variety of bread.

Spikes is easily one of my favorite spots! Their bread is always made fresh and has just the right touch of sweetness to satisfy any craving. I don't have a single favorite, but their conchas are some of the best I've ever had. On top of that, the staff is incredibly kind and respectful, and the place is always clean and well-kept. Amazing bread and great vibes all around!

Been wanting to come here for years after hearing so many people talk about this panadería! It's huge inside and there so many different kinds of pan dulce to choose from. The place is clean and tidy. They also have tamales and other Mexican food to go. I grabbed about a dozen different kinds of pan dulce, and the taste lived up to the hype, sooo delicious!!! Next time I go I'll have to get some tamales...I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area! Highly recommend!

We love this bakery for pan dulce but wanted to try their cakes as well! Our first time was buying a chocolate frosting with white cake and strawberries inside and it was DELICIOUS! Seriously one of the best cakes we've ever had. So when another bday came up it was a no brainer to order again. I showed them a picture of a dodgers jersey cake we liked and they replicated it perfectly! Everyone loves this cake as well! This is now our go to cake shop!

Best place for pan dulce. It does not disappoint. Tends to be super busy during the holidays with people ordering tamales ahead. They tend to not take orders over the phone. They have you go in to place it. Can't go wrong with a concha. Fresh bread daily.

$4.16 charge, didn't get my full order. When I called they told me this was my mistake.

Avoid visiting this place during holidays as they lack sufficient staff to serve customers, despite some employees trying their best. The lady cashiers provide poor customer service and exhibit racist behavior. They create rules on the spot, which leads to confusion. I was willing to wait but saw a cashier sell bread to an older lady, and when I questioned it, they argued uselessly. Once again, I'm disappointed because this busy business seems disorganized and is quite expensive.

One of my co-workers recommended Spike's Cake Shop for their delightful conchas. Thank you my friend. What's a concha you ask? Well, it's basically a simple Mexican sweet bread with sugar on top. Sugar comes in different colors... white, chocolate, and pink. My work was having a Hispanic themed potluck. I wanted to bring some conchas so here I am. My first time visiting. It's located in a small plaza. Parking may be limited. I didn't know the flow, but there is a flow after you walk in LOL. I walked up to a gentleman who was an employee here and asked him where are the conchas. There were a few people who were in front of me and they were already in line. I didn't know there was a line. They were gracious to allow me to go ahead of them. Thank you all! Here's the flow... after you walk in, get in the ordering line that is in front of the pastries that are behind door windows. A staff member will assist you in getting what you want to order. They'll get the pastries, put them on a tray, and after all is requested, they'll place the tray on the counter. Then you need to go to the paying line. There's one line for credit card and one line for cash only. Once you're up at the counter, you'll have to tell them which tray is yours. They'll start ringing up your order. I ended up with 2 dozens of conchas... 8 white, 8 chocolate, and 8 pink. I like a variety. Honestly, I thought they would taste a little bit different based on the color, but they all tasted exactly the same. They just have a colorful sugary top appeal to them. However, the gentleman said the white ones are their best seller. Each concha is $0.90. If you want a box for your pastries, they charge $2.00 + tax per box. Otherwise, they will put them in a white paper bag. I didn't know until after they boxed them. It's all good... they are more presentable in a box for potlucks or parties. Otherwise, paper bag is fine. Staff was okay. Service was decent. They get very busy in the morning so do expect some wait time. They do have a lot of different pastries. I'll have to come back and try the others.

Maybe one of the best places to get some real pan mexicano they have a large selection of delicious bread definitely one of those spots you want to check out if you're happen to be in the city of Pomona. Just know that the service here is a bit slow so you're most likely going to have to wait in line but it's worth the wait. The location is clean and big. Everybody's really helpful.I if you're a first timer, don't hesitate to ask somebody at the counter, what line you need to be in and how the process works. They gladly be of service to help you out.

Had a few chunks of pork with fat mixed into it. I didn't order tacos

One of the best pan dulce/sweet breads you'll try!! Freshly made and reasonably priced. They also have hot food such as burritos.

Great hole in the wall bakery, the break is very fresh. My favorite are the concha's, they're the best I've ever had.

Are they open tomorrow Christmas Day?

    Do they take ebt?

    Nope!

Are they related to Spike's Teriyaki?

    I don't believe so.

Do they put lard in their tamales and pan dulce?

    Yes.

What kind of tamales? Masa versus filling ratio?

Personally I love their tamales, I've had the chicken and pork. Both are really tasty. Pretty large in size and their masa to meat ratio is pretty damn near perfect in my opinion. My favorite is the chicken though. The green chile they use is fresh… Read more

My go to order is white cake with strawberries and whip cream with almonds on the outside!!! Highly recommend trying this place. Don't let the location scare you it's well worth it!!

I was super excited to find this bakery on Yelp as I grew up on old school Chinese cakes from LA…read moreChinatown / SGV and my family prefers them to Non-Asian cakes (i.e. Costco/supermarket/Porto's, non-asian bakeries). I called in a few days ago to order an 8" strawberry cake for my husband's birthday and requested no almonds on the side since my kids are allergic. I went to pick it up today and found the bakery in an Asian shopping plaza next to the Asian market. They had a few buns in the shelf as you walk in, so I picked up a coconut bun to try (only $1.50! Yay!). The interior is bare bones, with a few dusty fake cakes for display. The bakery shelves are covered up since they don't seem to sell anything besides cakes and a few buns. We ate the cake tonight but I was silently crying tears inside. While the sponge cake itself was nostalgically good, I noticed that there were barely any strawberries in the cake. It's summer and full on strawberry season, so to see that they were so skimpy on the strawberries was a major disappointment. This has got to be the saddest Asian strawberry cake I've ever had. In. My.life. All of our slices of cake had a sliver of strawberry hiding in a massive amount of cream (I guess to make the cake look bigger and taller). I ordered a strawberry cake, not a cream cake with a strawberry garnish. I added an extra star for the cake quality, but am not a fan of the excessive cream-to-cake ratio or the lack of strawberries in the filling. There are better Asian cakes available on the other end of the 10, so I won't be back. Cash only. Also, fyi, this bakery is in a neighborhood where I saw 5 scantily clad prostitutes walking the streets (at 2:00 in the afternoon) and about 6 homeless people were hanging out in the plaza a few feet away from the bakery.
