Typical slimy dealer. Was watching and bidding on a vehicle on ebay. With under 2 hrs to go, he cancels the auction and all bids. Ebay prohibits cancelling bids with less than 12 or 24 hrs to go. Current bid has a reserve but is about 1/3 under his Buy it now price. By cancelling he doesn't have to pay ebay fees. Did he sell it offline? Who knows, but if you have an auction running you shouldnt be able to just cancel it. A bid is a contract for both parties. Buyer beware-- do not bid or purchase from these guys. read more

Bought a car online. Everything was said to work, 4 barrel 350. After receiving the car discovered it was a 2 barrel, dome light didn't work, gas gage was faulty, and many other things were lied about. Said he didn't have a title after I had paid. Said he would get me one, years later I have not received it and cannot sell the car without one. read more

Buyers Beware I recently made an out of state purchase of a 1969 Cougar from Smoky Mountain Traders. I was given the impression that the vehicle had been restored. Now they are quick to point out that they aren't the ones that did the restore, so their answers to questions about the car are vague, which should have been my first flag. Strait off the delivery truck, the driver was quick to point out the rust bubbles under the paint that didn't show in the pictures. They claim that they didn't see them. The car failed emissions, so I had it sent to a shop just to find out that one cylinders was dead and two were only operating at 50%. The motor is going to need to be rebuilt. I asked a LOT of questions about this car before I purchased it. Does it have leaks? Do all the lights work and illuminate correctly? Are all the windows good? Has the front suspension been redone? Just to name a few. I was told there were no leaks. "The guys in the back went through and made sure all of the lights were working". All the windows were good and didn't have any issues. And that the suspension looked new and the car drove straight. The car leaks transmission fluid from three locations, it also leaks oil and power steering fluid. None of the toggles for the lights work at all. The rear window is foggy like it was a replacement from a junk yard and the windows on the passenger side were loaded with deep scratches. The suspension system is completely shot and will all need to be replaced. There are all kinds of other issue I didn't think to ask about that are not working like the temperature gage and heater/air vents. The headliner is falling in at the rear which couldn't be seen in the pictures. They just paint the motor and undercarriage to give the appearance that everything is well. From the pictures it is difficult to see that they just painted over all the oil, grease and grime. Look, shame on me for buying a used vehicle without looking at it first. I trusted that they were a reputable business and everything looked good, and that's on me. If you are able to go their location and crawl under that car, listen to it run and take for a test you may see the flaws or just happen to get a car done correctly. But, if you are an out of state it's buyer, you should beware. Just assume that everything they tell you about the car is a straight-up lie. read more

I don't write many reviews. But my experience with smoky mountain traders was so wonderful I felt I had to. I flew out there to meet with Devvin and he spent an hour and a half walking me through the entire lot of cars and pointing out different little things. When I got interested in a different car than I had gone there to look at he went to the trouble of pulling it out and moving other cars just so I could get a better look at it. The quality and diversity of cars is great. But the people were exceptional. After I bought the car apparently there were a few things that Devon wanted to have changed or fixed for me. I've never had anyone say that to me and it's the only good reason for delaying my shipment. Every car is different. And old cars always have their problems and issues so no car will ever be perfect. So you better trust and like the people you're buying them from. And I will absolutely do business with these people again. Keith, Devvin, Mitch and team thank you. read more

Want to share a story and put out a warning for those tempted to buy from a specific muscle car Dealership (SMT-smoky mtn traders). I purchased a 1972 chevelle from this dealership in Nov 2014. I was able to go and physically look at the car and drive it and ask questions. The car was in decent shape and ran ok but not the greatest but I didn't expect perfection due to the age. My complaint was they advertised the car as having a 4 speed Muncie both written into the advertisement as well as verbalizing it. On the way home, the brake light went out on me and evrytime I stepped on the brakes, the park lights and gauges would come on. I finally got the car home without any real problem and after driving it a total of 3 times just around time decided to get it tuned properly by a mechanic. After sitting in a mechanics shop for almost 3 months, I took the car back because the guy put other cars before mine. I then did some research and took it so a muscle car/hot rod resto shop who had great reviews and had been around a long time. They did some diagnosing to tell me the car could not be tuned related multiple fallacies of the motor and the only way to fully understand the motor was to go into it. I agreed to allow that to happen and glad I did to some degree. They found a motor of completely mismatched parts and a copious amount of shavings and metal in the oil pan and thru out the motor. On top of that was found a 3 speed manual truck transmission with a 4th over drive gear with a Muncie gear shift somehow welded to the tranny. Needless to say I am having to spend minimum of 15000 to get everything right. I called SMT several times and Daniel who basically placated me and said he would get back to me never did(his customer is terrible). After finally getting to talk to son and explaining this to him and asking him to make it right, the best he could do was give 500.00 back to replace the false advertisement of the non-Muncie. This isn't really acceptable but ask if they could make it right. They said no and said 500.00 was it. I have yet to see any thing from them. Please be aware of this company. I am not the only one to have run upon this. read more

We bought a 1969 white c10 from Smokey Mountain Traders and had to do so sight unseen as we are from Canada. There were many issues with the truck that were not disclosed to us which we had to have redone once we received it. They claimed the truck had a 383 in it but the engine never had any power despite the high gear and would power out going up hills which confused us as a 383 geared that high should have tons of power. After about 300 babied km the engine began fogging and oil was pouring out of the exhaust so we had no choice to pull the motor. We were angry that they sold us a vehicle with a worn out motor but the worst part came after. When we went to rebuild the motor we found out it was a worn out 327 smogger, it had roller rockers and a roller cam but it didn't have a cam button and as a result the distributor gear got messed up too. We now have to build a whole new motor. When we asked them to help us somehow, since they completely lied about the trucks specifications, they simply said we agreed to buy the truck as is and they were willing to do nothing. These guys lied about the truck in every way, it was a slapped together and they were asking top dollar for it. DO NOT make the same mistake we did, their vehicles look nice in pictures but they lie about the specs to sell the vehicles for top dollar. I could go on and on about the deceit what went on throughout this transaction but I simply do not have the time to write it all out. Beware... read more
