For the past three years this place was closed when I visited Anna Maria Island and finally got to try it last week. I was a bit skeptical of a bbq place on the island, but a nice option if you don't want seafood. It is a great space and decent outdoor seating as well. They specialize in bbq sandwiches. Was it the best bbq sandwich I have had, no, but it was a good portion for the price. I got the fried Brussel Sprouts and Korean Beef Sandwich. The brussels were good, nothing special but were crispy and not over fried. The sandwich was filling and had a good flavor. I typically don't shy away from dousing my bbq with sauce, but this sandwich could have benefited (in my opinion) from less sauce. It has a tasty, tangy sweet flavor but it was rich and intense. I couldn't taste the meat fully due to all the sauce they loaded on. I would go back and try some of their other sandwiches and the service was nice and quick. read more

This place is awesome. It is not what you would expect out of a typical barbecue place, but that's what I love about it. I had the Korean Beef and my wife had the Islander. She had the chips with her meal and I had to try the poutine (made with brisket gravy!!) The flavors were incredible and it all worked together so well. I've passed this place thousands of times and I've never really thought about stopping in. I do admire the owners truck and the cow they use to smoke meats on out front. But I had some out of state friends that kept raving about this place so I finally decided to try it out. I was told to order the burger but being a pork fan I ordered the pork sandwich. Honestly it was a pile of grease making the bun soggy and just not tasty. Seriously it wasn't the juice it was oil. You could see it. I wasn't impressed. However, the loaded chips with the blue cheese crumbles had me dancing for joy. Needless to say my friends didn't like that I didn't have a good experience so I was forced to go back. I order the Cuban. Should be called a pickle ham sandwich with a dusting of pork and a soft bun. Again not happy. But my loaded chips made it worth the 2nd run. You'd think this was it nope I again got forced to come back. I order the special burger with goat cheese and something else. Not satisfied again. Finally the last time I'm forced to come back. Now up until this moment it was 1 star the chips was all I would have ratted. But this time I'm told if I don't order the burger I'd be in trouble. Finally something worth eating. Now is it a 5 no buts it's no 3 either. This is a good 3.7 through in the chips and you've got a 4.3 so my 4 star is tgat. Could the burger be better yes is it the worst no. Why the long review? Eat the burger don't do what I did and make a mistake. Everyone said eat the burger so eat the burger. Also hate that they have like 3 spots to park. read more

You literally can't go wrong with any item on the menu! We go here multiple times a week while we're here. My favorite sandwich is the Cajun chicken. It's packed with flavor, and is one of the best sandwiches on the menu! Sometimes they have a special of the day, and it's always very tasty. Recommend! The fries are nice and crispy. I always get them when I go. My best tip is to get the Frozen Sangria! It's both refreshing and pairs well with the food. Last week, we were out on the island in Bradenton Beach. We were craving a burger, so we had to check out Smoqehouse. This is a bbq spot that focuses on chef inspired sandwiches. We stopped in around 6 pm and it wasn't too busy. We were greeted quickly. I checked out the menu and the burger caught my eye. This is a double brisket burger with smoked cheddar, caramelized onions, and fry sauce. I love pickles on my burger so I added those as well. I placed my order and grabbed a seat. Our food came out quickly and it looked incredible. The patty had a nice char on it and they were generous with the sauce. The pickles seemed like they were made in house which was a nice touch. I took my first bite and fell in love. This burger had incredible flavor. Every bite was thoroughly enjoyed. Overall, we really enjoyed our visit to Smoqehouse. The food was top quality and the service was fast and friendly. We will be back soon to enjoy some of the other creative sandwiches they offer. read more

I'm not one to leave negative reviews but we're honestly, pretty disappointed with our experience. The guy who took our order was pretty unenthusiastic and borderline rude, wasn't welcoming at all. The brisket burger was good but did not even have the caramelized onions we didn't realize until after we finished it when we glanced back up at the menu. The pulled pork sandwich was pretty disappointing. We ordered two meals for $25 but we're not full at all, it was just 2 very small burgers. We had high hopes and was super excited for this place especially with the high reviews and all the delicious looking photos, but walked away unsatisfied. Definitely will not be returning. read more

This spot is located next to our condo and the smell draws you in. We are from an area where masks are required everywhere so it's strange not knowing the exact rules. Signs indicate masks are required when entering an establishment so we were surprised to walk in and not see a single worker in a mask. If you don't care, great. If you do, this place isn't for you. Although we wore our masks, we proceeded to still order. The food was great. My daughter devoured the kid's cheeseburger before I realized she opened her box. The helpings are large. Amazing food in this local gem. Service was top notch, though not your typical service by wait staff. You walk in, order at the counter, pay, sit down and they'll call your name to come up and get your food. Absolutely everything we ordered was amazing. We were so hungry, I forgot to take pictures to share. I had the double brisket burger with fries and a frozen tropical sangria, and my wife had a salad and the Korean Beef. WOW! Smoquehouse is so delicious! We had to walk past the Smoquehouse everyday on our way to the beach and it smelled amazing when we walked by. We visited one day for lunch and it was amazing! Our food was served hot and the place was very busy with dine in and carry out orders. The only downfall of it being busy, is that we had to wait in line to get more to drink while we had food sitting on the table. I had the Islander sandwich and it was incredible. Great flavor with grilled pineapple, pepper jack cheese and teriyaki mayo, which is totally not something I would normally order, but it looked amazing and the reviews made me do it! I am so glad I stepped out of my comfort zone to try something new! The sandwhich was served with fries and cole slaw, too! My husband and my daughter both enjoyed their sandwiches! We have been coming to AMI for many years and love trying new spots. This one did not disappoint! It's chill and has good food. My friend and I were looking for a place to grab a quick bite after the beach. We stumbled upon Smoquehouse on yelp and decided to give it a try. I'm so glad we did. The space is small and doesn't have a lot of parking. We were the only ones there, but I witnessed several people coming in for to go orders. We both got the Wednesday special which was their brisket burger, fries and drink. My friend upgraded her fries to poutine and I added on their potato salad. The burgers are all cooked medium well. I prefer medium rare-medium, but this burger was oh so good. The patty was juicy and they slather on their smoq'n sauce which is delicious. This sauce also comes on the side to dip your fries in. Their "famous" potato salad was good and I would order again. It's nothing over the top though. My friend said the poutine was the closest she's had to Canadian poutine. I particularly don't care for poutine and yes I've had it in Canada, so I'll take her word for it. There were two people working and they both were alternating between cooking and taking orders. The only negative thing I witnessed was their frozen drink machine. They had a frozen sangria special, but the machine looked very dirty so that was a pass. Compared to most restaurants around here this is probably one of the better spots. In general though it was okay. Didn't blow my socks off but it was decent. We got the brisket burger, pulled pork sandwich, and a kids chicken slider. They said it was a ground brisket burger. Just tasted like any old cheese burger. Didn't really get a bbq vibe/flavor from it. For sure didn't get a brisket flavor from it. So I'd just call it a burger... The pulled pork sandwich tasted okay. Had more of the bbq flavor. Didn't have much actual bbq sauce on it so I asked for extra after I got it. But even though it didn't have bbq sauce, it was extremely wet. The bottom bun was soaked with something and dripping like crazy. Not sure what. Never had a pulled pork sandwich do that before even with slaw. But it tasted okay. The best part of all of it was probably the side of spicy Mac and cheese I got. That was pretty dang good. Staff was nice. The cook seemed depressed to be there though. All in all it was an okay spot. I don't think I'd crave that spot and go there again, but wouldn't be completely bummed if I had to eat there again either. read more

Cajun (special), is basically the same thing as the brisket but with their homemade Cajun sauce. Thought this one would be better than brisket original but it just didn't hit the same lol. Fried Brussels are such a great value for 3 bucks but my batch was over salted which kinda annoyed me but still tasted great. I'd give those 1 star. - Otherwise walked in, one couple in front of me, ordered w/i 5 mins and had my food in less than 10 mins. Stopped at this spot with the wife and kid for a quick bite while we were in town over the weekend. Was super close to where we were staying so it made it very convenient. We decided to split a meal since we weren't too hungry and ended up ordering the Double Brisket Burger w/ an order of Loaded Hand Cut Chips w/ Bleu Cheese & Garlic Thyme Aioli. After taking my first bite I almost ordered my own burger it was that delicious and flavorful. The cheddar, caramelized onions, smoqn sauce, soft bun and brisket patty were cooked to perfection. The hand cut chips were nice and crispy and the aioli and bleu cheese just set it off. I would definitely recommend this bbq spot if you are in the area or looking for some delicious food you will not be let down.
