Yay! I finally tried a Mangonada. For the longest time, I wondered WHAT the hell people kept eating and posting on IG! I had no idea what it was, until someone created a hashtag for it! But even then, you could only find it in the east bay. Soooooooo, I let that thought go. Then one day ... I saw people posting about it again! I knew I had to give it a try. Husband and I ran into a place at Great Mall, but the line was so long. I turned to my husband and said it must be just a hype. Finally, one HUNGRY AND TIRED afternoon, I decided to look on Yelp for something quick and sweet. I originally looked up ice cream, but came across Snacks! Looked through the photos and decided I could NOT not try it. Drove by right after work and could not believe my eyes. No lines, no wait, elote in a cup?!?!?! and Mangonadas that looked way too damn good. I bought two Mangonadas, and one elote in a cup. Best decision ever. The Mangonadas were soooooooooo deliciously fresh. The Mangoes were sweet and juicy. At first I couldn't understand what the stick was for?!? but later realized it was good if you licked it. LOL. The elote in the cup was freaking delicious. I thought that all the toppings would just stay on the top, but NOPE. It was alllll over. Every layer of that cup. It was elote heaven. SO GOOD. Now I'm here sitting in my office, thinking about Mangonadas and Elotes at 11am. I might just have to make a quick stop again after work. read more

Got the bionicos (fresh cut fruit topped with granola, raisins, shredded coconut and a sauce made of condensed milk, sour cream and honey) and the mangoneada (fresh mango, mango icee, chamoy sauce and tajin spice). Mangoneada gets a little too sour for me at the end so I'd ask for less sauce next time. read more

This place is great. The mangoneada is so delicious. I've never had a bad piece of mango. The service is really nice too.

Loved the mangoneadas. The mangos are ripe which goes a long way for me! My husband got the homemade milk strawberry ice pop which was equally delicious. They have an awesome setup of chairs with butts painted on the back. Definitely had a good time with that. Will be coming back when we are in San Mateo! read more

Came here on a Sunday afternoon. NO LINE. I was shocked and a little hesitant to go in, I expected a long line. We ordered a scoop of chocolate ice cream, elote, and a mangoneada. We got our order a few minutes after ordering and EVERYTHING was SO GOOD!!!! That's when everyone started racing in, there was the long line I expected. Mexican ice cream and Mexican "snacks" like you would get in the neighborhoods with the man pushing the little cart but here it's a store! Good quality and pretty consistent service. Must try the mangonadas and the bionicos! So good. This place gets pretty busy too. Parking outside is tough sometimes but worth the drive around the block a few times :) read more

Everything on the menu looks delish! I had the Tostilocos which is corn chips, jicama, cucumber, peanuts, chamoy and Valentina. Only reason I'm giving two stars is because the two young girls had really bad customer service. They both had bad attitudes and worked really slow . The girl who was taking orders wouldn't wash her hands after dealing with money, she then would go make the the orders without gloves which means she had her filthy hands all over your food! read more

I think that this is a hidden gem in San Mateo. They have the freshest fruit of any place I have been. There is not one thing on their menu that isn't delicious and fresh. They also have reasonable prices and are a LOCAL, FAMILY business so who doesn't want to support that. The owner is so inviting and kind as is all of the staff there. Their tortas are the best Torta I have ever had at any restaurant or taqueria. Their popsicles are also so good you will want to buy them by the dozen. So if you're looking for amazing food, amazing service and to support local San Mateo family businesses go to Snacks. I cannot say enough good things about this place. It's my go to place in San Mateo and when guests are in town. Thanks for the outstanding food. I have driven all the way from Redwood City just to grab some food from them and that says a lot with the Bay Area traffic. read more

Legit mangonedas! The best mangoneda hands down. Heaps of real mango with mango ice cream that they make there. Can't stop thinking of their mangonedas man. The elote in a cup was interesting though. I dont think i would get it again. I'll stick to the sweet stuff. read more

I was coincidentally parked right outside this place while getting Mexican food. This was exactly the type of place I've been looking for since moving from San Diego. I have been craving so many things they were serving, especially tostilocos. I decided to go with a mangoneda however because I had never seen it before. I will be back for the tostilocos and several other things that piqued my interest. I want to try the palettas and fruit salads and juices next. So happy there's a place like this in town! So yummy! I had never had Mexican desserts before and this was delicious! The wonderful man behind the counter gave us free samples when he found out it was our first time. The strawberries with cream (YUM) was fantastic and if I hadn't been in a more adventurous mood I surely would've gotten that. I got the mango drink and it was so yummy! It comes with a straw wrapped in chewy, sour/spicy stuff. And it's more a dessert and less a drink - I used a spoon to eat most of it. But it is fruity and delicious and totally one-of-a-kind. Ordered the bionico -- and took heed of previous reviewers and requested less "sauce". Boy it was HUGE! Stopped by here after dinner, since the get go, you could tell this place is very busy. Tthe lady at the register was really nice, I got the fresca creme, and my friend the mangonadas. It was about a 20 min wait for our orders, but it was fine sitting in those comfy booty-licious chairs. The fresca with the granola, raisins, coconut, strawberry, and creme was delicious. Mangonadas were on equal footing, i liked the sweetness of the mango and the icy gelato. I would love to come back and try their other items. This was my first time trying Mexican fruity desserts but after reading all the reviews on Yelp, we decided to give it a try. The owner was very sweet and friendly. He walked us through the menu and explained his specialties. I'm not a fan of mango so I got the meloneadas with cantaloupe. Delicious!!! The mango ice was refreshing and mixed with the chamoy and chili was AMAZING. Not too spicy-just enough bite. My daughter had strawberry ice cream which was creamy and full of strawberry chunks. We also tried a sample of strawberries with cream (fresa con crema) which was yummy. The owner said he makes the cream himself with his own secret recipe. More like 3.5. This place has very interesting traditional Mexican desserts and snacks. It took my friend and I a bit to figure out what we wanted because the menu is primarily in Spanish but thanks to a fellow customer who spoke Spanish, we were able to decide on a dessert. We tried the Mangoñada and Fresas Con Creme. The Fresas con Creme was very simple but tasty and the Mangoñada was interesting. I understand that this is a traditional dessert but for my taste, there was way too much paprika. The place itself is nice and clean and has very funny chairs that are definitely worth taking a picture with. read more

This place is ok and the reason I am giving this place 2 stars is because of the quantity they are serving per ice cream and their customer service.First of all they charged me 4$ for two vanilla ice creams, but they only served me one scoop per ice cream really!!!!! Just one scoop let me tell you that I've been to other ice cream places and they double or even triple my scoop for the same price. I'd rather drive to Redwood city or Hayward and visit United they don't served you one scoop per cone, but they will double it. I do have to acknowledge that their vanilla ice cream is awesome, it tastes like Starbucks vanilla bean frappuchino , but unfortunately their quantity and customer service is terrible. If you come here make sure to ask them how many scoops are you getting served, because their amounts are just ridiculous I should have taken a picture of my ice cream and posted here for you guys.
