Fish and chips with half-wedge salad.

The people here are really nice. We got here at opening on a Sunday. There are several seating areas - lots of high top tables in the bar area. There is a covered and enclosed patio area that has regular tables and is pet friendly. On this warm day they had cooling devices running so it was very comfortable. They had slushy machines at the bar, so we ordered the Tiger Blood cocktail with rum. The other was mudslides. The drink was good but overly sweet so it was a challenge to finish. We shared an order of smoked wings with chili sauce on the side, and the fried pickles with peanut sauce. Both were really good. Also, if they aren't making their own ranch and blue cheese dressings, then they are using a high quality product. We then ordered the fried cod and fries with a half-wedge salad for an upcharge and split those. Very good and very filling. The server was very attentive. And I liked that the bar serves both the interior and the covered patio. They have an outdoor patio with a fire pit. Nice setup.

We are traveling from Mississippi to the west coast and stopped here on our way. We'd thought with there being only maybe 2 restaurants in the area that it would be homey and welcoming but it was far from that. Our southern charm was quickly dismissed and we felt like outsiders. It seemed everyone knew each other there which could have added to this but overall the service was not good. They forgot about us at our table and we never got our servers name. The tap root beer was the best thing there... the pizza had little flavor. I've had better frozen pizza. My husband got the bison burger and it was a little undercooked. He said it wasn't horrible but it wasn't enough to rate it better. For just the two of us, we paid nearly $60- it was just way overpriced for the quality and the service we got.

Our coffees, regular drip and a latte, were solid and I loved how the waitress checked multiple times if I needed a warm-up (which I of course took advantage of). The smokey hibiscus chilaquiles were delicious as was the orzo elote salad. They each had very unique combinations of flavors and filled us up so much that we didn't even need lunch. We took the brown butter monkey bread with us to go and even though it wasn't warm when we ate it, it was still very tasty. Prices were as expected and service was amazing. Highly recommend.

From the moment we were seated in a cozy corner booth, our server took care of us like we were her family. The pastries and butter board were phenomenal, served with homemade honey butter and jam. The homemade biscuits with poblano sausage gravy were everything you could hope for; rich, comforting, and absolutely delicious. The cowboy bowl smothered in sausage gravy was hearty and satisfying, with plenty left over to take home. To top it all off, our server brought out a fiery habanero hot sauce that added the perfect kick, and the Irish coffees truly hit the spot. We'll definitely be back!

Great little hometown Diner. When we first arrived to the outside--well, the name Rusty Lantern…read moreseemed appropriate--half expected to hear a gate creaking and slamming in the wind, and see a hitching rail for your horse. That made us a little nervous, but also so excited . Once inside that nervousness is quickly replaced by friendly people. You can immediately feel that it's a real local favorite. Everybody's eyes are on you when you enter, but that is definitely not to make you uncomfortable. They are smiling and welcoming. You're offered boisterous warm greetings, with that welcome home feel. With stools at the counter, some very big tables and chairs sitting off to the left for big parties to sit at, and booths for the typical size party, the seating was perfectly spaced and comfortable. It truly allowed for tables of regulars to intermingle. It was definitely rustic, folksy and the people were all friendly regulars like they were co-owners. The artwork on the wall was just so--cow hand and ranch family murals. I truly expected John Wayne any moment to come drawling in and tell me, "I think you need to sit down, partner." We chose a booth, sat down, and were greeted quickly by the most humble and sweet young lady who was our--No, THE server approaching us very quickly to take our drink order, and explain the small menu to us. Yes the menu was very basic. A rainbow of colorful chalk writing garnished in an invented style, a board displayed behind the counter, which consists of an evolving menu of fresh made dessert type foods that weren't on the menu --the menu lived. The small basic menu was one page--That was it. Having mostly the basics to choose from, I chose a nice sausage patty, and three scrambled eggs with cheese and onions. We were half expecting half effort food--boy were we wrong. I also couldn't help myself I had to order one of these fresh made goods displayed on that board. Knowing that it was a side to my already ordered dish, I asked my server. "How big is a slice of banana cream pie, is it a good side." Lol..." Yeah it's not that big" well I should have known by the Texas feel of the local little diner. When the cream pie came out I could have eaten it for both breakfast and lunch and been plenty full lol. It occupied my every thought, with fresh bananas and cream, a smothering of whipped cream over the top, and a perfect semi-sweet crumbly crust, I devoured it quickly! The fresh cracked eggs, not overly greasy from frying up on an overworked grill, and the flavorful sausage combined with what seemed to be hand grated potato hash browns, mixed with onions cheese and spices. This was a classic downhome cooked meal. It was easy to tell why the place was filling up with customers quickly. It didn't get too crowded, but the patrons definitely tripled by the time we were finished with our meal. The server was friendly and handled all of the orders expertly, and lol, her little boy brought the dishes out to the table for you. It started to feel more like eating at a B&B. And the food is amazing--you have to go here. That board that I was telling you about, more fresh made foods were being written on the board while we were eating --the menu lived. This was an amazing experience, with rustic artwork all over the walls, friendly people willing to scoot over so that we can take pictures. We will definitely be back here. When you're in Idaho Falls, or even if you live here, take a 3 minute trip up 20 to visit this wonderful diner. I promise you won't regret it. I was having a little bit of a hard time time coming up with this review because I definitely wanted to make this a John Wayne movie lol. Thank you for reading, I hope it wasn't too scattered and I was able to do this establishment justice.

The dark rye was toasted, and the sandwich was loaded with a large amount of sauerkraut. The service was very friendly and efficient, with even an apology that a group of 20 came in after us which was fairly loud and raucous. My spouse said it was usually nice and quiet as this was my first visit. I don't see BLT on the menu much anymore, so that's what I'll probably get next time.

This was probably the best meal we had while visiting Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks…read more We had a day to explore the area and Grok (of all things/places) recommended visiting Victor and Driggs for the day. Kids had chicken tenders and the steak and fries. Both kids enjoyed their meal. The chicken tenders were huge and kid got 3 of them. The steak was about 5oz, which was a decent size for the kid. It came pre-cut, so the kiddo didn't have to handle a huge steak knife to cut it--which was nice. Both came with a generous serving of golden French fries. Fresh cut or frozen, these fries were good! Either a second ramekin of ketchup or a larger one is definitely needed for the amount of fries served. I had the burger. It wasn't fancy--just cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onions--but it was a thick patty with fluffy bun with lots of flavor. It also came with a ton of golden fries. My mom had the BLT that didn't skimp on the pork belly. I wish the stores sold thick cut bacon like that. She said it was delicious. Hubby had the lobster roll. The kids brought the purple potato chips were the neatest thing (they were good, too). The lobster roll was perfectly dressed--not too much and not too skimpy--and tasted surprisingly fresh. This place is a little more upscale than some of the other places we've eaten at this week. We were welcomed as we were--shorts and tees. Other guests were dressed casually, not overly fancy. The adjacent museum was a cool place to visit, too. It housed 3 restored Navy planes that were neat to see. Since we're headed home tomorrow, we won't be back, but if we were staying longer, we'd make the ~hour long drive just to eat there again!

However, our food experience was also mixed. We shared a soup du jour (potato bacon broth based) which was awesome. Parmesan fries app came as a generous portion and were pretty good as was our elderberry mocktail. The big disappoint was the tandoori chicken which the waitress recommended but we found to be very dry. It was described on the menu as having a yogurt marinate, which was already mixed into the dish, but we couldn't really taste it. The tabouli/rice that came with it was also dry and didn't have much taste. The waitress was nice and tried to get more sauce but when she couldn't, she brought olive oil and vinegar which was ok but at that point I would have just liked something different as it was pretty mediocre. Forage is a nice restaurant with some nice options but you should expect to spend a fair amount. I would expect the fine dining experience quality to match the price, but we had enough good food here that I would come back to try something different.
