Went there today and should've just gone to Marianne's instead. We saw a customer with a dipped cone and asked to get the same kind and size. I thought the girl at the counter understood that.... what we got was a much smaller amount of the dipped ice cream. When I asked for the large size that we ordered, the guy behind the counter seemed like he understood and was going to fix the mistake on their part. The girl from before stopped him and wouldn't correct their mistake. She then came up to show me two cone sizes and say that is the difference between the small and large ?? I explained that we wanted the same amount as the previous customer as far as ice cream but either she wouldn't understand or simply couldn't understand what I was saying. (The customer behind me seemed to understand just fine and he even tried explaining to her that by not correcting the mistake, this business runs the risk of a bad review and word of mouth spreading.) He was right, I finally decided to join Yelp and review this place and let others know to please don't bother with this business, walk across the street to Marianne's, it's much better and friendlier. As a side note: a couple customers after me, that lady tried to understand why ordering sprinkles meant only a couple sprinkles instead of a decent amount. It's too bad this place doesn't care about their customer's satisfaction and would rather argue with them.... such a shame. read more

I was attracted to the 1960's OG vibe from the outside, but was very pleasantly surprised by the excellent quality of the burgers, chicken wings and onion rings. So, let me tell you about my experience at Sno-White... I walked in craving a burger, I was really excited that I had remembered this was right down the street from Cabrillo College since that's where I had come from. I bought the #1 Combo Meal: a jr. burger with fries and a medium soda. It was about $7.00. I have no complaints about the fries, and not really about the burger because I had ordered a child's size, but I ended up with a small size soda cup. I don't know if they give this to everyone who orders a medium soda or they just made a mistake, but I didn't think much of it, I was starving. The service was decent. The cashier was very nice to me, but before I ordered I had been standing in front of the register waiting for someone to help me for longer than I should have, since nobody else was in line. Next to me a girl found the owner and told him that she had ordered a milkshake and she still had not gotten it. I heard this a few more times throughout the time I was there. My boyfriend showed up about an hour later, I had taken my time eating because the Giants game was on and I couldn't miss the last inning! After my boyfriend was done eating we carpooled to Starbucks to study with another friend. My friend took me back to my car and I realized I had forgotten my keys in my boyfriends car. She drove me home as I waited for my boyfriend to come back from his errands to get me so we could grab my car. Now here's where it gets interesting... I initially had arrived at Sno-White to eat at about 2-2:30, I stayed until about 3:30. When I came back to get my car at 6:50 that evening, my car was GONE. I went inside and asked where my car had been, the cashier knew the towing companies number by heart, and told me to call the number. Apparently the owner thought my car had been parked in the lot too long, so he called the towing company and they took it away. My leisurely trip to Sno-White ended up being a $300 nightmare. An employee at the towing company said that the owner will sometimes call the towing company 3 times a day. I will never go back. I gave them my money and they took my car away. If you are looking some fancy organic hipster burger KEEP ON DRIVING and if you are looking for McD's prices keep on going too. I know this place looks like some hipster's ironic wet dream of drive-in but it isn't and thankfully the prices aren't set for hipsters either. Frankly most of the food is average but the best thing is they have 31 flavours of milkshakes including tiger's blood (cherry pineapple) and cupcake that did indeed taste like a cupcake. Some reviewers complain that it's expensive but I guess since I come from the land of 12 dollar burgers, the prices were fine by me. They let me substitute onion ringers from my fries. The counter people were all very friendly and quick and they did take credit cards. It's a fun place to stop on the way to Yosemite. read more

There was nothing better than getting a burger and a dual-flavored soft serve cone. This places is quizzical, as it seems to be one with lost potential, being it's close to the beach, freeway, and with some existing history. Was it bad? No. Was it great? No. (A better score would be 2.5 stars, but Yelp doesn't allow that.) This place has been here since 1957, and it has that feel. A half dozen tables inside, and a similar number outside, this place could use a little TLC & imagination. Its acceptable, the burger was hot, and it was served quickly. The fries were thin and great (!), kind of a better version of what Mickey D does... but the burger was just OK, and the service was perfunctory. There are also a number of fish & chicken options, which are nice (but I didn't try). My guess-timate is that this is the burger joynt for the beach (duh), with skaters & surfers well represented. They could do so much better if they played up the 1950s in a few small ways, and used a little elbow grease. One negative was the large exterior menu, painted above the windows, that is outdated (and prices are painted over). Why? There also appear to be a large light fixture, or two outside that aren't functional, as well as a bathroom light that didn't work. A little imagination on the 1950s theme... could they use old-fashioned red plastic (glass) holders, with the white cone (paper) cup, like the Apple Pan in West L.A.? How about one, or a few, little table-side music boxes? Or just one classic music box? And how about something no one has? An insane apple pie ala mode? (Gordon Ramsey, can you please send some suggestions?) They also serve tacos ($1.85), sandwiches ($3.00 - $6.00), and egg rolls (.95). But it seems like if they want to really hammer "it", the business, they need a killer burger, or chicken, or BOTH. Keep Driving! After reading the mixed reviews, my wife and I decided to try it anyway. How bad can they screw up a burger and hot dog? Well, when you compare it to In and Out Burger or Five Guys Burgers and Fries, this is truly poor quality food that is well overpriced. We had a junior burger, chili dog, two fries, strawberry shake and Pepsi, totaling $18.75. Now to the food - the burger was small (well it was a junior burger) but when sized against Wendy's dollar menu, Wendy's was larger and probably better. The chili dog was a small kid-sized hot dog with salty canned chili poured over the top, again not the best and cost $6.75. I expected for that price a bigger dog and better quality chili, maybe homemade. The bright note was many families were coming in for ice cream cones, these seemed reasonably priced and sized right. My strawberry shake was good, not fantastic, but good. My recommendation is to find a better spot for hamburgers and hot dogs and go to Sno-White Drive In for dessert. read more

What attracted me to drop into the place was one of those retro signs like the ones you would see on Route 66. Not exactly a "drive-in" but you wonder if maybe back in the 50's could it have been? I am sure it was part of the attraction before getting yourself to go to see the "Cement Ship" on the way into Seacliff Beach. The food was so-so. My onion rings were ok, and so was my burger. There isn't much of a condiment bar to speak of and you're on your own if you need very much. Cheap eats and after you are getting to gnaw on your burger before or after leaving the beach, its pretty standard. Don't expect to come here to get a feel of yester-year, the waitresses hops wearing paper hats and roller skates are long gone. Wow, this place brings back memories of high school. Ditching class just to for a burger, fries and a shake.So worth it. This is my favorite fast food burger place. It still has the essence of that old diner food, before fast food was really around. You get the fix in' of a burger joint with a little less of that clogged artery feeling. The place is small and never crowded. Service is normal and staff is friendly. It's more expensive than In and Out but better quality. Come on people do you really want to be eating cheap meat? Don't bother with Sno-White. I've been here 3 times. First of all, the service is never really friendly. I have never gotten a smile, "How are you?", or a "Thank you" for purchasing their mediocre and overpriced food. First time I got a burger for my 7 year old cousin. I asked for a cheeseburger with only the bun, patty, and cheese. When we got home, to our dismay, they had included the works on the burger. No big deal, I scraped it off and didn't take it personally. The second time I came to Sno-White I was just looking for a quick sandwich, as I had to get back to Cabrillo soon to make it to my next class in time. I walked in and was 1 of 2 people in the entire place. The first thing I noticed was that the tables were dirty. I had made my decision to shell out $3.00 for a grilled cheese sandwich, but nobody was around. I waited for 4-5 minutes just for someone to show up. I had to lean over the counter and ask if I could place an order, because it didn't look like anyone was coming around soon. When I got my grilled cheese, it wasn't anything special. I could make myself a better one in half the time. It was just 2 small slices of bread with 1 slice of american cheese in the middle, lukewarm, and cut into triangle halves. I wish I had gone to the Safeway right down the street for a sandwich instead. Today was the third and final time I will be going to Sno-White. I ordered 3 vanilla milkshakes, 3 burgers, and a regular order of fries ($2.65 by itself - it's the same size as the small fries at McDonalds). The total was $37 and change. But the food was for myself and my younger cousins, so I cringed and paid. When ordering, I specified that two of the burgers should only have the bun, patty, and cheese on it (I even asked nicely). I saw the lady who took my order write it down. When we got home, we again found that both burgers that were supposed to be plain, had the works on them. This is the spot to go to if your going to Seacliff beach. The location is right dead smack on the corner right before you enter to park at this amazing beach. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger and I loved it. I would compare it to a very good homemade cheeseburger. I grew up down the street from Snow White's, and this was always the place to go when us kids wanted to grab something to eat. We'd bike down and get three large fries, dump them in a huge pile on the table (on top of napkins of course) and chow down. There is a lot of truth to this statement because no doubt it is expensive ($20 for two people to order a burger, drinks and fries) but at least McD's is fast! I had to wait 15 minutes for my order. Not cool. And while the Sno-White fries were quite good, the portions and overall quality of food does not justify the cost. Two more pet peeves. One, what's with the individual tiny catsup packets? I asked for some catsup for our fries and the dude gives me like 20 tiny packets which aside from being totally environmentally unfriendly are a real hassle to open one-by-one! Secondly, why not upgrade the signage outside for Sno-White. The sign is a complete eyesore and does not look like it has changed in 20 years. Went here after spending a day at Sea Cliff beach. I didn't expect much from here but we received was below my already low expectations. Bacon burger was not very good, the chocolate shake was really really poor and the fries were meh. I'd choose another burger joint before going to this one. There are the ubiquitous McD's or BKs all over the place. Then you have Sno White... The soft serve is among the best i've had as are the shakes. The service was prompt and friendly (I think I must have dealt with the owner's son). I felt very welcome into the establishment. After seeing multiple customers walk in, they were greeted with the same friendly banter. The burgers are good and the serving sizes are a tad above what you'd get at the big two i just mentioned above. The flavor of the Superburger is superior to any Whopper or Bigmac. The fries are scrumptious. The only two things that keep this place from getting 5 stars is prices are a bit high and that place needs a bit of work. If the owners had lunch at the creamery in Palo Alto or the Pontiac grill in Santa Cruz and applied the same concept, the place would be jumpin! read more

I like this place. The food is surprisingly good, far better than a Foster's Freeze, which is a comparable type place. The staff is always nice. I do wish the site was kept up better.
