Low-key with plenty of outdoor seating (indoor seating is limited and tight), this is not a bad choice for hikers, bikers, kayakers, or anyone else traveling back and forth on Highway 321 in Walland. The food is pretty good across the board, although the pulled pork was a little dry. The fish tacos, however, will not disappoint. The service is typically quick and friendly. Overall, the Snoring Bear Diner may not be a place you would drive out of the way to patronize, but it is a reliable choice for a road trip pit stop, and the boutique/antique store beside it offers even more room to stretch your legs and take a break from the road. A very small and boutique restaurant that was quite the surprise in flavor. You definitely get some nice views while you sit down, but be aware that there are only like four tables inside but they do have an outside seating area. In the winter that might not be ideal, but spring summer and fall. It will be great. It's a nice place to either eat right before going to the Smokies or right after you're done. Really down-home, southern people in the middle of nowhere. There's also an antique shop right next door that you can walk to walk off some food. Enjoy. read more

Tried this little place following a recommendation. It was OK, but nothing spectacular. The place is tiny - maybe seating for 20 inside plus a patio. We were there on a Sunday afternoon, and it was not crowded. Service was very good, but the food was just OK. I tried a chicken Philly and chips. The sandwich was pretty good. The chips were a little undercooked. The server brought more and those were good. My wife opted for a burger, which we were told were great. She was disappointed. I got the basic burger while my wife got the snoring bear burger with goat cheese and a Dijon blackberry drizzle and candied bacon. You also get a choice of a side -I got the rich and gooey Mac-n-cheese while my wife opted for the potatoes (really crispy hash browns)-both were good. This place is such a great and cute local diner! The place is very small (about 6 tables at most) but feels very inviting. I ordered the fish tacos which were very tasty! My mom ordered the snoring bear burger with a side of tater tots and received hash browns instead (which were still very good) but a little frustrating because there weren't many customers. Our server was very nice and the food was great! I highly recommend checking this place out and trying the peanut butter pie (it was delicious!) read more

Have only stopped in for coffee & cheesecake so far but YUM! Delicious local Vienna Coffee and the BEST cheesecake - seriously, their Cinnabun Cheesecake is amazing. Great little cozy find and, luckily, open year round unlike a lot of nearby spots which close for the Winter season. Friendly welcoming staff, too. read more

This restaurant is a small restaurant. It had limited indoor and outdoor seating. The waitress and staff were very courteous. Prices are reasonable. The cheeseburger, chicken salad and mashed potatoes and gravy were great. I'd recommend if you're traveling through to stop and give it a try. read more

After the roads were closed getting to our destination we discovered this spot via Yelp reviews. It's small, quaint, and like going to someone's maw-maws house for dinner. In other words - it's great and very welcoming. It's super small and not much to look at from the outside - but the atmosphere is charming; the owners are on-site and very gracious; and the food is everything you would expect it to be. This quaint tiny diner was an unexpected gem nestled in the Tennessee backcountry. We wanted a tasty and quick dinner after arriving in the area, but little did we expect a side of southern charm with our order. We were greeted with a smile and sat in a booth for two in a dinning room no bigger than a small school bus. It was cozy and festively decorated and the sounds of a country kitchen bounced into the dinning room. We ordered the chicken philly sandwich with Mac and cheese, and the snoring bear burger with sweet potato fries. Both the burger and the sandwich were incredible. Extremely flavorful and fresh (I could hear them cutting the chicken as I sat in the booth drooling). My only disappointment was the Mac and cheese. It looked and tasted like a microwave dinner, but the sweet potato fries tasted homemade and couldn't have been better. Definitely a drive out to it, but we wanted to try it and drive the 45 minutes to it. Tiny, tiny place and super cute. They do have a little outdoor area but we sat inside. One waitress for the whole place (that I could tell) she was good and really did hustle. The place was busy and they definitely have their regulars which is great. Wish we would've been told there were specials as we learned about them as we were finishing and man would've tried those. I had the fish tacos (you get 2) and Mac and cheese. Let's start with the tacos: ok needed way more of the spicy sauce and I asked for it, (took awhile as she was on her own) and they charged an extra $0.50 for a super tiny extra portion (I don't care about paying but if you are going to charge then give an amount that I wouldn't need to ask for yet more), once I had the extra sauce it made them better but they were still just ok for me. The Mac and Cheese, pretty good, nothing crazy but good flavor and texture- not over cooked. My husband had the open faced pot roast with a mushroom gravy and a side of coleslaw. He said the pot roast was good and a very good portion and favor was good, the mashed potatoes he said were like store mashed and just ok, coleslaw not his favorite either. (I couldn't try his as I'm allergic to mushroom and it was in the gravy). The deviled eggs - now these were great! They put a candied bacon on top which was to die for. I would do a whole order of those next time half order soooo good!!! Also to note drinks are by the can so it was a learning lesson for me lol. I like my Diet Coke and had to order like 4 haha. We saw this little boutique diner as we were pulling in to the antique mall next door. As we were leaving we decided to stop in and see what they had. We squeezed in to the tiny little place and were treated warmly. I ordered a philly cheese steak sandwich and let me tell you, it was amazing. The bread was fresh and soft and the flavors were great. I wasn't a fan of the bear tatters but they tasted ok. I would have preferred fries. My family was very satisfied with our meal and will be back. read more

After reading about this place on a local Facebook page, we decided to give it a try--and we're so glad we did! It truly is a hidden gem. My husband ordered the Snoring Bear Special (tilapia), and I had the Denver Boone (French toast sandwich). Some of the best spots aren't the biggest or fanciest, and this is one of them. It's small and a bit outdated, but the service was excellent and quick. We went for breakfast and will definitely return for that, but we're also eager to try their lunch and dinner options. It's just not a good place to eat at their menus. Sounds like it's gonna be pretty good food, but it is absolutely horrible. They say the macaroni and cheese is homemade. It absolutely is not. It's box macaroni, and the cheap kind to not even the kind with the with the liquid cheese in it it's the dry, powdered macaroni and cheese. Baked beans absolutely not homemade absolutely not homemade they're straight out of a can don't even think their bushes the burgers were absolutely horrible. They didn't the food won't make you sick, but we paid 40 bucks for a monkey bowl if you know what that is of yesterday's, powdered macaroni and cheese, monkey bowl of baked beans from a can and two burnt horrible burgers. Now they were busy, but the level this food was that a lot of these were preconceived decisions before the business walked through the door. Honestly, I don't see how the place stays business. I'm not that picky of a dude, but this place was absolutely ridiculous. By the way it took about 90 minutes to get the food.
