Loose bathroom tiles, subfloor deteriorated below
    Shane O.

This is our first trip to Snow Bear Lodge. My wife, myself and our 2 kids rented a two bed unit. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The bathroom tiles are loose, damaged and the wood subfloor below the tiles is deteriorated from moisture. There is also what appears to be mold on the wall outside of the shower. The toilet is extremely loose at the floor which I'd be surprised if it wasn't leaking into the unit below. The sink is clogged and drains very slowly. The window screen is torn, bathroom exhaust fan sounds like it's tearing the roof off. I am property inspector for a living so I see this stuff all the time. This place is run down and in desperate need of repair. Update: The office was quick to reply and happily gave us another room.

    Broken sign

Found what I thought was a great deal on booking.com based on average reviews. It was not. I laughed upon arrival as it was a ghost town with a broken sign. Even after over 20 calls they refused to answer the phone. I was stuck there at this DUSTY ran down facility. Shit stained towels, dust, dirty feet from dirty floors, jacuzzi had a scent, wierd substance on curtains, bed sucked.. never again

    Room 12 sink handle broken.

Really sad to say this place isn't what it used to be. The first room we checked into (12) had a broken sink faucet handle couldn't turn on the hot water and leaky shower nozzle. The front desk person switched our room (15) which at first was great until the jacuzzi tub kept shutting off and turning itself on even though the timer just kept ticking. Was excited to share this hidden find with my husband since I had such a great stay last year, but this time it's just a huge disappointment. Paying way more than what it's worth ($174.97) because it's the weekend, and to find it's only one big amenity not working, the reason I came back, really sucks. The front desk gal offered to have someone take a look at the tub timer, but she said they probably couldn't fix it without the right parts and tools. Forgot to mention our room code was given out to another guest who entered our room at midnight while we were in bed. NIGHTMARE! REFUND!!! RUN FROM THIS PLACE AS FAST AS YOU CAN.

great price. great location. It is on the main street but the noise wasn't bad at all. cute place, been around for over 40 years so it is a bit dated but that doesn't bother me as long as the beds are clean and comfortable. every room had a mini fridge and microwave. they have a small pool which was heated. cute gardens all around the lot. very "homey" feel, they have a small area with tables and chairs and ping pong table and tether ball. I believe there are only 17 rooms but we got a two queen with spa tub for a great price. You are able to walk to the village and the lake was only minutes away. only stayed for a night but check in is at 1pm so that was great. the only down side was that the room doesn't have a/c but the cross breeze was great. thank you for the stay, we will be back.

My boyfriend and I had a reservation at motel 6 but we ended up canceling that reservation when we found this resort hotel. It is very clean, has a microwave and mini fridge and the lady at the front is super nice! Only 75 a night same price as motel 6 and knights inn! We have stayed at 4 different hotels here in big bear this is by far the best one... Oh and they are not listed on booking and Priceline.

    The queen pull out sofa?

I would give o stars if possible. When I arrived, back in November; the property was empty, no guests, no office, no one on site. . My reservation for an 'apartment' was nothing as advertised and at the end of their 'driveway'... the unit was clean but nothing like what I reserved, & on a busy road with no security. The property is run down to the point of abandonment. I requested a refund the same day which they, and booking.com honored...but it has taken 3 months to reverse the charges. The rooms, and units are worth $25-$100 a night. Don't be fooled. No management or staff on site either.

From the moment we walked into Sierra Blue Hotel & Swim Club, we knew we picked the right place. The aesthetic is incredible -- vintage charm from the original Thundercloud Lodge blended perfectly with modern, rustic chic design. Thoughtful artwork, cozy textures, and designer-inspired rooms make it feel stylish yet warm. It's a full-service hotel right in the heart of the Village -- one short block to the lake, shops, and restaurants (and right across from the bowling alley). Easy parking and EV charging available, which is a huge bonus. Janet, Maddie, and Louie greeted us and were absolutely amazing. Genuine, welcoming, and thoughtful. They even gifted us complimentary mugs and were so kind to our son, giving him a patch for his jacket or hat. That kind of hospitality stands out. And the freshly baked s'mores cookies? Unreal. Warm, gooey, perfectly toasted marshmallow and melted chocolate. Honestly better than DoubleTree cookies -- and yes, even better than the famous Disney park cookies. They're that good. Spotless room, beautiful Village views, pet-friendly, incredible service, and an unbeatable location. Five stars without hesitation. We'll absolutely be back -- especially for those cookies.

We chose a room with a kitchenette, and even for our short stay, it was a great convenience. Service is a little hit or miss. When we arrived our room was a bit stuffy so we tried to use the thermostat, which kept indicating a low battery. We called the front desk and the man who answered hesitantly said they'd tell maintenence. On our way out for dinner, we stopped by the front desk to remind them of our request and it was the same person who answered the phone. He was surprised and scrambled to find a sticky note to write it down. After all of that, we come back to the room to a note that it's been "fixed." The A/C and heat are controlled on the unit by the window itself, not the thermostat. So why not say that the two times we asked about it? The entrance and exit are towards the road behind the main street through down, which has restaurants, a 7-11, and other places you can easily walk to -- if they had an exit facing the main road. We had to walk around the building, climb over the railing and then make our way to the sidewalk.

However, I was disappointed that the bathroom in Room 363 already had some maintenance issues. The toilet was loose and wobbled every time we used it, and the shower handle was also loose and moved around when adjusting the water temperature. For a newer property, I expected these basic fixtures to be in better condition. The complimentary breakfast was a simple American-style breakfast with a few hot items, which was convenient but nothing particularly special. Overall, the hotel has great potential because it's clean and well maintained in general, but the maintenance issues in our room definitely affected our experience. Hopefully, management will address these problems soon, as this could easily be a 4 star stay with better attention to detail.

We stayed here for one night over the 4th of July weekend and overall had a good experience…read more Check-in was quick, and the front desk staff was genuinely welcoming and friendly. They made us feel right at home, which was a great way to start our stay. We booked a room with two queen beds, a fireplace, and a balcony. The lobby is nice, and the hotel has a spacious breakfast area along with an on-site restaurant. Our room was on the first floor, though, and the balcony overlooked someone's backyard, so we didn't really get to enjoy sitting outside. That was probably the biggest disappointment. The room itself was comfortable enough. The beds were decent, and it looked like some of the decor had been updated. The bathroom, however, could definitely use some work. There were patched areas on the walls, cracked baseboards, and it felt a little worn. The hallways could also use a refresh. The game room was a nice surprise. It had a pool table, ping pong, foosball, a few board games, and vending machines. There's also a small outdoor pool and jacuzzi, which looked like a nice place to relax. Breakfast was included and had a good variety of options, which we appreciated, especially on a busy holiday weekend. Overall, while parts of the hotel felt a little dated and even a bit creepy in places because of the older chateau style, we still enjoyed our stay. For the price we paid during one of the busiest weekends of the year, it was a good value. A few updates would make a big difference, but the excellent customer service and included breakfast definitely left a positive impression.

It's certainly strange- you take an elevator up, stairs down, more stairs down, some up, and you finally find your second floor room. It similar to the Winchester House in San Jose. But, we found that kinda quirky and filed that in the positive. The staff was friendly. The room was clean, sizeable, and everything was in working order. We didn't eat breakfast, although it is provided, but we did have dinner at Tiffany's. Dinner was great, with live entertainment. The hot tub is small, five person max, but the pool was nice, with several chairs around to relax. There is an outdoor bocci ball court. Inside is a game room with a pool table, foosball, air hockey, ping pong, checkers, and connect four. All free. Parking is free. Overall, nice place. There is plenty of lodging in Big Bear, but if you get an opportunity, I would try this place.
