I love this place! I've been going here for Veterinary services for years and never had a bad experience. I believe I've met every staff member and each one of them are professional, courteous, and supper friendly. I have a 4 year old poodle named Lucas who they treat like their own. You can tell they are all dedicated to what they do. They're also very good at figuring out and fixing what's wrong with my pup. Anything that has been prescribed or recommended worked well and fast. My mom's pomeranian was not being as active as usual and barely eating so we brought them into Snowflake to get checked out. They were very helpful, informative, and determined that he had a digestive problem which wasnt allowing to relieve himself as he should which was cleared up with a few drops. The doctors are great, but the customer service is poor. Dr. Dileo is an expert professional and i trust her implicitly. Unfortunately, I've never been seen on time. In fact, I've never waited less than 30 minutes beyond my appointment time, and to wait 90 minutes on a Saturday is not unusual. If you ask, the answer always is that the staff is very busy. Hey, my time is valuable too, and I'm paying to be there. There's a lack of regard for us, their customers. Either they're chronically understaffed or they just don't care. I'm sorry to say because I prefer to support family businesses. read more

I have been very pleased with their boarding and grooming services. They are very nice and will even pick up and drop off if you live fairly close. This was very helpful to me when I had a family emergency, one less stressor that I has to deal with. read more

I don't think they deserve one star. I was referred to snowflake by Pecto in Stratford due to my dog's behavior during grooming. So I took my dog to their center. I have a small black 5lb Pomeranian. I told the groomer Jenny that I wanted him trimmed down and evened out. When I returned to pick him up he was completely shaved down, uneven, botched, poorly done and didn't smell as if he'd been bathed. Not to mention one week later I notice a rash on his lower back!! I am livid! An of course when I get there Jenny was gone for the day. I called, emailed, and called again about my disappointment. The following Monday I was finally able to talk to Jenny and Rebecca. Jenny was so disrespectful and beyond rude it was unbelievable!!! Rebecca was more understanding but only said they would only give me 50% refund. Not the full refund I requested. I was not only disappointed but now I'm upset with that fact that I was out of $20.00 for a service I was not satisfied with and my dog looked horrible!!! We recently brought our long-haired Maine Coon cat for a grooming and to update her shots. Well, we never heard back from them about her blood work results. The owner, Bob, said the paperwork got lost on his desk. When we picked her up and gave then nearly $400 and it wasn't until we got home and looked at her and noticed a dime-size cut on her back showing redness and half of her whiskers were cut off. Her coat was so choppy and uneven, we were just heartbroken! When we asked the owner "Bob" how this all could have happened while she was sedated, his answer was "...I don't know, bring her back and I'll cut off the other half of her whiskers." That was not the answer one would expect from a professional. Also,the doctor never returned our calls. Overall, the owner and staff were incompetent and unprofessional . We would NEVER, EVER return! read more

I have a dog who is 15 years old that became ill on Sat mar 4th. I called Highway Animal hosp in Ffld where he has been treated in the past and they actually told me to go somewhere else. We then called Snowflake and told us to come right down. I thought my dog had some kind of a stroke as he was leaning and falling to his left side. We were prepared to send this little guy off but the doctor who saw us immediately upon our arrival informed us that Rocky had experienced a specific medical condition that if all went well would go away in 2-3 weeks. and that he was in no pain and we should take him home keep him hydrated but don't worry if he does not eat too much(hes a little fat). They gave us peace of mind at a difficult time. 3 Days later Rocky seems to be progressing. Multiple follow up calls from the Doctor What more could we ask for Thank You read more

My dog was "skunked" at 11pm on a Saturday night. I did what I could until I could find a professional to bathe her on Sunday. Yeah...Sunday on a holiday weekend. I am very supportive of local businesses and prefer to give them my business before I spend $$ at places like PetCo and PetSmart (nothing against their grooming services because I haven't used them). I phoned Snowflake Sunday morning to find out they are only open to accommodate the folks picking up their kenneled pets. But I was very PLEASANTLY surprised when I heard, "Can you bring her in right now?" And I did. And I am happy, happy, happy with the results. The most remarkable thing is that I believe they refrained from overcharging & just gave me the regular rate for this service. I cannot say they would make this a regular practice but I will be singing their praises to everyone I can. read more

I brought my dog to Snowflake because I had notice some changes in her physical health as well as personality. All the doctor did was check my dogs breathing, gave her a rabies shot, said she had an "infection" with no specific of what kind of an infection, gave me antibiotics and told me to get her spayed whenever I was ready too. Two days go by and my dogs health was noticeably deteriorating so I called back to see if there was anything I can do and the person who answered the phone said my dog had a uterus infection (now so specific) and that she could "die from it". Of course being worried I needed to get her into emergency surgery and having listened to my gut I went elsewhere for it. Snowflake Pet Center didn't address the severity of my dog's condition, the technician did not know how to properly handle my dog (grabbing her by her neck aggressively and pulling her head to the floor is NOT how you handle a dog), and the worse part is the fact that the medication given to my dog was meant for skin infections. Tell me how that would've helped my dog when her infection was internal. All in all, if you don't want your dog to die, don't bring him/her here, bring them somewhere else!!! If I had a choice, I wouldn't have put a start at all. read more

We love Dr. Dielo and Staff!! She has done wonders for one of our rescues! We recommend Snowflake very highly. The facility isn't fancy but the care is top notch!! Their pricing is reasonable in comparison to some other vets and the ladies who answer the phones always go out of their way to accomodate. read more

I use Snowflake for my vet care, boarding and grooming. As far as vet care I do get frustrated when there is more than one vet involved in my pet's care because each vet can have a differing opinion which can be confusing. That being said, every vet I have encountered at Snowflake is great. We especially like Nicole and wish we could see her every time. The receptionists at Snowflake are amazing, they have squeezed me in in an pinch. They have even called me to follow up and see how my dog was feeling after he had a trip to Shoreline, which made me feel like they really care about him. Every time I board my dog at Snowflake they also do a good job and the cost is not bad. He definitely comes home smelling like a kennel, but that's where he was, so I just give him a bath. My dog also gets groomed by Snowflake and they do a good job. Everywhere else I have gone for a groom I pay at least $70 for a 15 pound dog and he comes home with a very fancy puppycut haircut where he looks like a showdog. Although he looks nice I pay far less at Snowflake for a very basic haircut, which is all I really need him to get. Overall, I will continue to use Snowflake. I like how no matter what my dog is there for they know him and everything is all in one place. They are 30 minutes from my home and I pass many other vets on my way there but I think the services that I get there are worth the extra drive. read more

Hands down the worst experience ever for dog boarding. Our normal kennel was full so we took our happy, socialized, loves-everyone Wheaten Terrier to Snowflake for two days. I didn't like that we had to pay for her to get extra attention, especially since most kennels love animals enough where they just do it for free. When I returned to pick her up, I expected to see a happy, delightfully tired and played-out pup like I normally do after a boarding experience. Quite the opposite. She was shaking, covered in urine, and cowering in her kennel. She ran over to me as fast as possible and clearly was traumatized. None of the staff (who were incredibly rude) were able to tell me what had happened. Do yourself and your dog a favor, don't go here, go to Who's Your Doggie instead! That's our normal daycare, if you're boarding you even have the option of the dog being able to snuggle with a staff member at night! read more

If it were possible to leave no star I would..I adopted a kitten from a local shelter and he was sent directly to Snowflake for an exam, vaccinations and neutering. I picked him up from Snowflake first thing in the morning, before the vet was in. The staff told me he had giardia and gave me medication, though I wasn't provided clear direction on next steps or able to have my questions answered. I left my cell # and asked that the vet call when she had time since I have other pets at home and didn't want to risk getting them all sick, in the meantime I'd keep the kitten in the bathroom & away from the others. Five days later, when I still hadn't been contacted, I called and asked again to speak with the vet since the kitten was close to finishing his medication. Again, I was given follow up instructions from the receptionist that contradicted what they told me when I picked him up - I still couldn't get the actual vet to talk to me. I made an appt with the vet my other pets go to because I didn't even trust Snowflake at this point. In my regular vet's testing they found another type of parasite that Snowflake never diagnosed and now the poor kitten has to start a whole new medication and be kept separate for another two weeks - it will be an entire month that this poor kitten has had to live alone in my bathroom by the time everything is cleared up!! I'm so thankful that my extremely thorough vet at the Animal Clinic of Milford detected this second parasite and that my other three pets won't also be sick! Lesson learned - stay away from Snowflake or your pets will suffer needlessly.. read more

Pup had a UTI. Since we were new to CT we took her to Snowflake where they charged me $125 for amoxicillin. 2 weeks after she finished the meds it came back. Took her back. X-rays were clear, but they wanted to run blood tests to check her kidney levels. I asked for some stronger meds, as maybe the original infection hadn't cleared. I was told that wasn't possible. Waited 2 days and called as I hadn't heard from them. They couldn't find her results, so they called back a few hours later. Told me kidney levels were high, so she should have x-rays. I said she already did and they didn't show any crystals. They didn't have record of said x-rays. Then they said they wanted to do an ultrasound. Again I asked for meds but was refused an Rx. Ended up going back to NY where we used to live the next weekend and visited our old vet. They took a sterile sample of urine, gave us a stronger Rx for less than $40, and when they heard the aforementioned saga, suggested we find a new vet in CT. (They charge $25 for the same amount of amox.) Ridiculous. Vet techs were very professional and kind, but the professionalism of the front end staff and veterinarians left much to be desired. read more

TERRIBLE service at the grooming center! Please do yourself and your dog/pet a favor and DO NOT take them to Snowflake Pet Center--Period. Not for grooming, not for anything. My lab went there today to get groomed (we have only brought her there once before and though they forgot to clip her nails, they didn't do a bad job, so we gave them another try. This time not only did they clip her nails but they actually nicked the skin on top of her paw! We didn't notice at first but then we took her home and saw she had bled all over the car. We assumed the groomer had cut her nails too short (as this happens sometimes when YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING) so we were annoyed, but not concerned. Then when she didn't stop bleeding, we took a closer look and saw that it was her actual paw that had been cut. So we called the pet center and got a receptionist, explained the situation and she told me she would talk to the groomer and her manager and have them call us right back. So instead of them calling us back, she called and said that after speaking with her manager, they claimed that there was no blood in the kennel where our dog was held after her grooming session and therefore they couldn't be sure it was their fault. But if we were concerned they would make us an appointment ON MONDAY (because it's totally fine for our dog to just bleed all weekend) and then they added, "but we would have to charge you for that." ARE YOU SERIOUS??? Complete BS! NEVER bringing either of my dogs there again! What a bunch of shysters with poor ethics! read more
